For those who follow my reviews, I need an occasional ManiPedi and haircut. I had no idea Pro Image Salon on the Alameda, San Jose, even existed. I had eaten lunch and was taking a walk when I saw a sign showing a special. I walked in, was immediately welcomed by Bonnie and was very impressed with how clean the shop was and how welcomeing the staff was. As always, I was a bit nervous going to a salon, but Bonnie assured me many men drop by. Had a manicure and pedicure and came back the next day for a haircut and facial. What can I say except: "A perfect experience". The pricing is competitive with other shops but when they run a special, it is a great special! The facial, which I have never had before, was a very relaxing experience and I highly recommend it! If you are looking for a full service salon, look no further. I went for a haircut and root touch up. After washing my hair, Bonnie must have noticed that the color wasn't done properly and there were a lot of grey hair still visible. Instead of owning her mistake, she started cutting my hair at the root. And instead of telling me, she turned my chair to the side so I won't be able to see it. I felt that something was off and questioned her about what was going on and still she lied about it saying she was trying to add volume. And then she charged me the whole amount!! This is the WORST salon ever and is run by the most DISHONEST person. She of course lost a customer forever! SUCH A SHAME! read more

Honestly, I was skeptical about having someone cut my hair at a place I had never been before and I was so happy with my cut! Tahn gave me exactly what I wanted! I mean to the T :) I was super happy and now have a place I can trust going to that is very reasonably price! I asked for only 1/4 a trim, some short layers, and tapered ends. After, I said I wanted her information to come back to her and she said assured me that any staff member is capable and amazing at their job. Pro image is also attached to a nail salon on the other side and it is clean, the staff is friendly, they take card or cash. Came here Tuesday afternoon because my daughter wanted to get her nails done last minute for her birthday. We stumbled upon this nail salon and luckily they accepted walk ins!! Bonnie is a keeper! I've visited many salons and finally found the one. I love the way Bonnie cuts my hair and the conversations we have. I've been to the salon about three times. She accepts walk-ins, but it might be a good idea to make an appointment. Even though I've been there a few times, she remembers our previous conversations which is nice. She's pretty hilarious and gives great advice. Bonnie definitely spends a good amount of time on your hair and makes sure that you leave satisfied. I hope she stays in SJ forever. read more

Walked in for a normal Mani/Pedi and walked out barefoot because they didn't have any of these plastic slippers and with half of my previous gel still stuck on my nails. I've been back twice since my first hair cut here and I feel that an update is definitely needed. The second time I came back, I really wanted a different do. I was tired of my same hair style and wanted something different. Bonnie was the only one available that day and she was real busy. I had to wait a while, but it was fine since I didn't make an appointment or anything. When it was my turn, I told her I was looking for something different, but she told me with the type of hair I have, the do I have now is what would be best. So I got that same hair style again, just a bit shorter. My most recent visit to Pro Image, Bonnie was there, but she had a long queue so I went with another one of the ladies who cut hair (did not get her name). She also gave me the same exact hair cut, but I didn't notice it until I got home, but one side of my hair was longer than the other. It wasn't a big deal since I feel it was kinda my own fault for not noticing that my hair cut was a bit lopsided, so I just trimmed off the extra at home (and got hair all over my bathroom AH!) I feel like I can't complain, for $15 it's not a bad hair cut if you like the one style that they can do. And if I ever do want to go back to that hair style, I will be back, but keeping a closer eye on how it looks at the end! Also I should mention, there's no parking lot for the salon. There's a few spots out front, otherwise you kinda have to find some street parking in the residential area. read more

Quick, inexpensive haircuts. This is the type of salon I tend to frequent. I go for a very low maintenance haircut to match my very low maintenance hairstyle. My haircut took about 20-25 minutes. It was cut well, but I like to get my hair thinned and I think they could've done a bit more. However, they did a good job at preserving the length when I asked them to just trim the split ends. Parking is a bit of a pain, but there is a residential side street next to the place. read more

It is my second time going here to get an haircut with Bonnie, the owner. I had no problem scheduling an appointment last minute and they were able to accommodate me after just 20 mins. This time I feel particularly grateful because I didn't have much time and in just an hour Bonnie was able to wash, give me a very nice precise haircut and blow dry and style my hair. By reading the yelp reviews I figured this place would be pretty good. My haircut was "ok" the color i got was good but the end of everything was a nightmare. When it was time to pay Bonnie swiped my card once and the transaction "failed". She said the machine has been giving her problems for awhile now..Bonnie then swipes my card again and the same response. I think go on my handy dandy phone to use my bank app and check to see if anything is pending...and sure enough there were 2 holds!! And im not talking about 30 bucks on hold...im talking hundreds!!! So i then get pretty upset and tell her whats going on and she apologizes for this...so its already 7pm on a friday night waiting around while she calls the merchant for she rents the machine from. The rep having to walk her step by step to do a "refund" on the machine took some time...which eventually got situated but now have to wait a few days depending on my back to release the funds back.. I have very difficult hair to work with and have blown/wasted $70+ dollars on haircuts at salons because I figured more money equals better service and expertise, but every time I try something upscale, I never leave feeling like it was worth it. I NEVER like my hair right after a cut. My first visit to Pro Image resulted in what was probably the first time in my life that I left a hair salon loving what my hair looked like in that moment. The woman who cut my hair gave me just the right amount of layers to give my hair texture and she is the first person to ever blow my hair dry correctly! A lot of people furiously wave the dryer back and forth or quickly yank a brush through my hair with the dryer literally directly on the brush or worse... use their HAND to ruffle my hair while blowing. Usually without fail my hair will turn puffy and I look like I'm 10 years older with an ugly blowout. This woman was extremely careful with the dryer and even used it to make lovely, subtle curves at the tips of my hair. I was elated with how it turned out and was an even happier when my bill was $15! Extremely fast AND quality service at a great price. They're friendly too--always the cherry on top. Definitely not upscale, and they don't pretend to be. I just went back yesterday and will be there time and time again . read more

So i've come here about 2 or 3 times and I usually had a really great experience. A trim only cost 15$, which you can't really beat for the price. I don't know which lady I had but she was really nice and did a really great job. Based on my experience with her alone I would have easily given this place 4 stars. HOWEVER I came here today and some other lady cut it today ( I think her name was Bonnie) she was very stern and not social/welcoming at all. She told me to sit down and 2 minutes into my haircut she took a phone call and was on the phone for a good 5 minutes, and she would come back to me and comb my hair and almost started cutting it while on the phone... which made me really nervous. Then she finally got off the phone and came back to me without saying anything which seemed kind of rude, she could have at least apologize for the interruption. Then she started cutting away, she layered and started to texturize my hair because I asked her to thin my hair out. Everything seemed fine until she snipped a small chunk of my top layer REALLY short (shorter than my bangs...). And i saw it out of the corner of my eye and frankly I wasn't initially mad, mistakes happen I understand I'm not one to get mad over hair. BUUUT then she had the audacity to pick up the chunk and ask me if i tried to cut my own hair! First of all even I know not to cut someone's hair that badly, but secondly I SAW HER DO IT in plain sight. Then she brushed it off saying maybe I had hair breakage from dying my hair (when has dying hair ever caused a huge chunk just to fall of???) I looked at the chunk later thinking maybe it was that way all along... but there was a single split end in sight it was a clean fresh cut. So there you have it, you get what you pay for. Regret giving this place a 2nd chance. My first bad experience happen when I wanted to get my nails done on NYE day. I had called and they said they had availability to see me right away. I walked down there ( I'm one block away). After I told her what I wanted she kept trying to push more services and when I didn't respond to her request she said she really didn't have time but to come back in 30 minutes. That wouldn't work as I was on lunch. I left and when I returned to my office, I decide to call for a later time after work so I called and again she told me she was available right away. I don't think she knew she was talking to me! It only takes five minutes to walk to my office so not sure how she become available so quickly. I avoided that place until today. Being that it's so close I decide to go back for a mani. My manicure is very basic, I like clear polish; I go to have my fingers look clean etc. Of course she tries to sells me on gel, pedi and eyebrow wax. I politely decline. The charge was $10 and I gave 20% tip which is normal. I guess that wasn't enough because she walked away without putting the clear polish. When I asked that polish be put on she came back, did one coat and went to another customer. I had to ask another lady to tell her I want two coats, not just one. Overall, lacks tack, very obvious you shouldn't go there for just a manicure. Honestly, they should just remove that from their services if they do not want to provide. read more

I was slightly surprised to see all the great reviews after my experience the other day at Pro Image. I came in here with a friend to get pedis. We had to wait a bit but it wasn't too long. My friend got her pedi first while I waited for the second chair to open up. While my friend was getting her pedi the woman working on her kept insisting we get manicures as well. I said no several times because I recently had gels done. She kept pressuring me to do a manicure and telling my current gels were too out grown. If I want a service I'll ask for it. I don't like being pressured into spending more money. The pedi itself wasn't bad but it was nothing special. I feel like there was certain things she really rushed through. When I was paying another woman working at the salon told me I should get a facial next time. Not sure what she was trying to say by that but it felt offensive like she was trying to say I really needed it. If I wanted a facial I would ask for one. I really wanted to like the salon because it's close to my boyfriends house but I think I'll be sticking with my ladies at J&J Nails in Milpitas. read more

Walked in on a Tuesday just before noon and it was empty. 5 minutes after I sat down, there were 3 people waiting but I think that's as busy as it gets so walk-ins are definitely welcome. I've been going here for more than 3 years at the behest of my younger brother and his wife when i was staying with them in San Jose (or, as we like to call it, ManJose). Bonnie and her staff do an amazing job and it's always a blast just to be there. I always get what Bonnie calls "The Works," which means i get my head shaved, extraneous body hair removed from my shoulders, back, etc., a facial and hot stone back massage, and a mani/pedi. Mind you, I had never had a facial of this sort or a mani/pedi prior to this, but my brother encouraged me and now I"m hooked! And the prices are amazing too! I made an appointment even though it wasn't really necessary because I came at a good time. I was seated immediately and we got to work. I didn't catch the name of the lady that cut my hair but she was very nice and inviting. I let her know what kind of haircut I wanted and she even advised me on what I should do. She complimented my hair and gave me the best advise on how to cut it. I thought that was helpful because out of all the salons I've been to, she's the first to actually give me any advise on what would make my hair look best. My experience was really good except for feeling a little pressured on getting something else done. She kept pushing me for highlights, waxing, and something else. There was no language barrier because I could speak Vietnamese and her English was pretty good too. The haircut was $15 and I tipped for $4. You can't really beat the price here. I usually go to Supercuts for a $15 haircut, but they don't really spend as much time on you there. This lady worked with me until I was satisfied. I asked her to cut my layers a second time and she did it happily. I'll definitely come back! I left with my hair feeling healthier, smoother, and more beautiful! read more

First of all, as soon as I walked in I could see everything was messy and dirty. They only have two seats where you can get your pedicure done, which is inconvenient. The lady who did my mani and pedi didn't even go into depth. Felt like she just removed the nail polish, cut my nails and added a new color. When she started my pedi she started asking about my personal life. Some people enjoy that, but I personally do not. She told me I was too young to be married, and other remarks which I don't appreciate because # 1 it is none of her business and # 2 I never asked her for her opinion. I asked for a gel manicure. French. And she was in a rush because she wanted to go cut some guy's hair. Because of her rushing, she did a bad job. She left some of the white tips smeared and it looks ugly. I had long hair, haven't had a cut in at least over two years, so I was a little terrified that it might not come out the way I wanted. It's pretty hard to find a place that will give good haircuts and not charge you an arm and a leg nowadays. Especially since I'm not very high maintenance when it comes to my hair --- just a simple trim and layers will do therefore I don't want to pay $50 to get a haircut. This place is therefore perfect for me! For $15, I can get a good haircut and not feel like I've wasted tons of money. There's usually not a wait and the hair stylist is usually pretty friendly. I went to this salon for two reasons - it's close to my home, and other reviews on Yelp convinced me it was worth a shot. Kim did my eyebrows, facial (with a back massage! ) and cut my hair. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my haircut. she gave me exactly what I wanted. ( I tend get stylists that give me their interpretation of what I want.) T. did my set of nails. I got a set that required 3 different types of powder, and she was done in about 45 mins. They look great! I didn't ask what the prices were for the services, cause I had decided to splurge and treat myself to a day of pampering. I don't know about you all, but for me, it's hard to find a good haircut, and when I find a place, I expect a consistent haircut. I have been coming to to Pro Image for a good 6 years, I get a great consistent haircut, at a good price. I always stop by, no appointment, and unless it's @ 11-1 on Saturday, I am always seated pretty soon. I might even get a bit of a eyebrow wax from time to time :) gotta keep well kempt! I have very low expectations for any Asian salons because everywhere you go they all cut the same, cut way too much, give you layers, but charge you very little. So $15 for a haircut...CAN'T COMPLAIN. However thw workers are quite pushy and are hella good at getting you to spend more money lol. So I ended up getting a mani+white tips, pedi, and some random foot massage. I ended up spending $50 and tipped $10. She asked me if I wanted to touch-up my roots but I was being strong and said no. The haircut wasn't exactly how I imagined it in my head so my fault for not bringing in a picture. My friend asked for an A-line and it was nothing close to an A-line. It was a straight up bob lol. I really wanted to like the place because it has so many great reviews but I would be lying if I said I liked it. My hair is pretty much half bob and half A-line but I'm tryna work with it. She didn't really give me what I wanted, I felt like she gave me what SHE wanted. It was only $15 so I ain't complaining. At least my ends are dead. The bob side of my hair is so straight and unnatural, it looks like it was cut by a 5 year old. It's been a few weeks now and I was hoping it would grow out and look natural but it still looks freshly cut. There are sooooo many haircut places in San Jose that are just as cheap, I probably won't come back to this one based on my previous experience. I didn't have time to go to my usual guy in San Francisco, but really needed to get rid of the split ends. I decided to stop by this place. I had to wait about 10 minutes because the stylist was cutting another persons hair. While waiting I looked into a few of the hair style magazines. I decided I liked one of the styles on the model that had the sides layered (I have long stick straight hair). The stylist trimmed my bangs, the back of my hair, and layered the sides. All this for $15! My only regret is that I don't know the stylists name, so I'll have to stop by again just to get it. She did a wonderful job. read more
