I'm a guy with short hair. I like the sides buzzed with a 2 and blended up. The top cut short enough that it doesn't outgrow the sides, but long enough to actually style a bit. Easy enough right? Wrong. I can't tell you how many hair stylists either take too much off, don't blend well, or just manage to screw something up. Thank god for Bonnie at Pro Image. I needed a cut on short notice. I am new to the area so I didn't know where to go. I wanted to keep it cheap, but not at my hair's expense. I read tons of reviews on Yelp and decided on Pro Image Salon. Ok, so I literally just got back from this place 10 minutes ago. I have to say, I wish we had half-stars. It felt like a three-and-a-half experience. I have to say, it was a great haircut, and the price is certainly right on for the San Jose area, and getting what you pay for. Salon prices are ridiculous these days. But I got a cut and shampoo for $15. And it looks great. I have to say though, I was a little bit annoyed at how much she tried to sell me on other treatments or products. (facial, pedicure, hair gel). It got old after a while. Still, though, like I say....a great haircut. And while I probably won't be back unless my father-in-law is out of town again, it's a great value for personal attention in the SJ area. read more

I was thoroughly impressed after having had several haircuts elsewhere that were slightly less than satisfying. I think I've found a keeper :) Great price too! Only cost me $12 and about 15 minutes. I've been going here for probably 15 years. The price has gone up only twice in that time, and it's now just $20 for a men's haircut. I think that's still a bargain in this day and age. The stylists are friendly and fun. I have a pretty simple haircut but they do a great job with it and they never try to upsell me. My parents also get their hair cut here and have been doing that for several years, too. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a great place for a cut. read more

I was looking for a place that could do a great extra long A-line bob. Well I hit the jackpot! Was able to get an appointment on a Saturday which is first off a good snag. Also the lady was very patient with me and took time to understand exactly what I wanted done. I am a huge stickler when it comes to my hair i haven't received a haircut in 2 years due to moving here from Texas and missing my hair stylist their. So I gave in and decided i needed to give someone else a chance. She did a great job, she took her time. Also she even styled it for me without asking. This place should have a negative rating. I went to this place twice. DO NOT GO!! The first was eyebrow waxing and mani/pedi. The waxing was fine the mani/pedi was terrible. They go through the motions of doing what you would expect but when you look at your nails in the end they are uneven, cuticles are still there, hang nails are still there and that dirt and grim under your nails still there. I ended up going to another salon to get it corrected. The second time I went I thought I would give it another try just in case it was on off day. Eyebrow and leg waxing followed up with a mani/pedi. Well, I never got that far. Leg waxing - in general there is some discomfort but get a good gal and you will suffer little. At Pro Image you might as well call it torture. No pulling skin tight - just mindless ripping. I got half leg wax and still had to come home and clean it up. THEY SPILLED WAX ON MY PANTS! I noticed while I was getting ready to sit down for the mani/pedi. No big deal I thought this must happen all the time and they have a magical solution to remove it. THEY POURED OIL ON MY LINEN PANTS. They rubbed it real good and I asked "oh what is that?" Cuticle Oil. Now understand, this are my very fancy Banana Republic Weekend pants so you know I already spent way to much on them. I told them they ruined my pants and they said "No, It's just OIL." IDIOTS! I said forget the mani/pedi. I was still willing to pay for the leg wax and asked how much I owe. They would not tell me how much so I said - fine you do not want my money. And i walked out! I spoke WAY too soon! Bonnie is a complete shark! She does nice hair, but she quoted me one price ($20) for a wash and blowout, and the 3rd time I went in, she raised it by $5 without notice. I just had a friend call for a quote, and she said $20. That's SO dishonest and scummy. I called to get a quote on a haircut, and she said $20, but charged me $45! Apparently wash and blowout are not included - what?! Since when is a wash and blowout not included in a haircut? Again, very dishonest and misleading. She also puts a full court press on to sell other services while you're captive in her chair. It's insanely uncomfortable! The facials are very basic and not worth the price, and the nail work is very sloppy. Bonnie acts friendly, but I now see that it's completely phony, and the other girls are very unfriendly. I'll not be going back to this extraordinarily dishonest salon, and I strongly recommend finding some place new, preferably with a posted price list. read more

This has been my eyebrow spot for the past three or four months. The place is cute, clean, full of friendly staff and genuinely kind. I only get my eyebrows done once every four to six weeks, and they always remember who I am. I love the warm greetings and great conversations. I appreciate that they really listen to what I want. I like my eyebrows cleaned up to compliment my natural shape, not something artificial. I would recommend the women who does my eyebrows but I can't remember her name (I am the worst with names). If you stop by, I am pretty sure that she is the only one who does eyebrows there. I am hoping to get a mani-pedi sometime within the next two weeks. I will update my review after :-) Even if my mani-pedi doesn't go well, I will always comeback to get my brows done. read more

TL;DR: Bonnie gave me a lopsided, too-short, crappy cut that was NOT what was clearly asked for. She is really nice though, and $15 for a hair cut is cheap. Haircut =1.5 stars, Salon Experience = 4.5 stars. I have to quantify my 3-star review: if I could give 2 ratings, one for the experience and one for the haircut, the average between them would be 3 stars. Bonnie did not "get me." Don't get me wrong, she is very sweet, and funny and made me feel comfortable; she also spent at least a few minutes consulting with me about my haircut based on my hair, wants etc. For that I would have given 4-5 stars. What I got: Bonnie's haircut. I don't mean, I got a haircut by Bonnie, I mean that the cut I got looked EXACTLY like her actual hair. Cute, I guess, if you wanna look like you have a giant round melon head, and live in 1999, but NOT ME. So, instead of having hair that I can pull even half up to work out, I have a SUPER SHORT cut, and not even a good one. Imagine if you cut someone's hair to about 3-4 inches long all over the crown, and then the parts over the ears were left to make a dramatic a-line bob. There is an obvious line/ridge where the crown layers stop and then the hair from the sides comes down. Think about how Mrs. Brady's hair had that long-and-short look, that's what the sides of my head look like. Not pretty. read more

I had a terrible experience. I had read some of the yelp reviews and thought of saving some money and given it a try. My appointment was with Bonnie the owner and she was not pleasant at all. In a very rude angry voice she asked what I wanted. I had told her I wanted 3 inches cut in back and some long layers. She began by spraying the bottom of my hair and was spraying my entire face! Without even combing or brush Hing my hair first she started chopping away on the right side of my hair. She did not even pick up a comb. I stopped her when she was going to start cutting my left side of my hair. When I stopped her and asked what she was doing she said nothing to me. She just stood there with her hand on her hip! She said she did not cut much. I could not believe what I was seeing!!! I pulled off the cape and walked right out. She never said anything! Needless to say I got to the car in tears and called my regular hair dresser and she was kind enough to come into her salon and cut and fix my hair. You really do get what you pay for. Don't try and save money by going to this armature. She should probably stick to doing nails and leave the scissors alone!! read more

So I have been looking for a place to get a simple and basic cut for a reasonable price and here it is! My previous hair cut was a total mess with extra layers and too much texture and I wanted someone that can just fix it up and give it a clean look and Bonnie did a great job! I also got a deep conditioning treatment, very minimalistic and for $10 it's a steal! That way you get to condition your hair more often instead of doing it once in a long time for $100 bucks! They are quick and easy to make an appointment unlike the other salons, not much show put up on the inside, just do the job right, that's all I needed. I have not tried the mani/pedi service for which they have poor reviews but at $25, I think it's too much to expect too much! read more

I left feeling like I wanted to cry. I went in wanting a mani pedi. I thought one of the girls were going to do my nails but the guy sits in front of me. He is clipping them and I say I like them short. So he gets the pointed clippers and launches in on my big toe. He seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. He hacks at my nails like he doesn't have any skill. I begin to get stressed out after 3 toes and decide he can't continue. I ask if someone else can do it. Idk if he usually does nails but I question his ability. It goes from a positive relaxing experience to I have to leave now. I go from a mani pedi to just finish toes so I can leave. For the price, 5 stars. I paid $15 for a textured A-line bob. I usually go to a place in the city and pay just under $100 for an amazing stylist who has Bumble and Bumble training. However, I just wasn't able to find the time to head up there and I desperately needed to get my hair cut. Someone in my building had a nice haircut and said she had gotten it at the place across the street, so I thought I'd give it a try. I did oscillate between booking at Pro Image vs. 5 Color Cowboy. Do I go for the fancy salon experience with mixed reviews about haircuts or do I try the really inexpensive place? Having had a disaster haircut in the South Bay before and having had to shell out $75 for it, I decided that I didn't want to repeat the experience. I resigned myself to a crappy haircut, but figured I'd rather pay $15 for it than $75. Bonnie was the stylist at Pro Image and I was pleasantly surprised to leave with a nice haircut. It wasn't Bumble and Bumble, but she did a decent job. When you factor in the price, it was an excellent cut. With tip, what a deal for $20! read more

This may be a great place to get a guy's haircut, but I would not recommend a women's cut. They did not thoroughly wet my hair before the cut, just used a sprtizer bottle. Came to Pro Image to get my haircut instead of my regular salon since this is walking distance from my location. I called ahead and was able to get an appointment within 20 minutes of my call. Not only was I extremely impressed with my haircut, but Kim was extremely friendly and professional. The prices are also competitive and I would even say much cheaper than most salons in the area, including my regular one. I've gone to a few other nail salons in the area and I've always been disappointed in the quality of work for such a high price. I came to pro image on a whim, hoping to finally get a great manicure and gel set, and I got that plus more! Tsy and Bonnie were soooo nice and Tsy did a wonderful job on my nails. The thing that sets Pro Image apart from other salons is the great price and SUPER friendly service. I love chatting with their employees. I also saw a bunch of people from the neighborhood walk in for haircuts, pedicures, etc. so it seems to be a neighborhood hot spot. While I only trust my hair cut and coloring to an African American salon, I'll definitely be back for all of my mani/pedis. read more

Very disappointed with my visit with the salon. I've been going here for the last five years and had always had Kim the girl who used to be the one closes to the door, sad to say that she no longer works there. This new girl cut my hair very choppy. I ask her to not curl the ends, you know that annoying thing where they curl the ends after the hair cut with the cylinder brush. Ask her not to and that's what she started to do, then I said it's fine just leave it straight and then Bonnie comes and says that she's just drying it. Okay fine you can dry it, but guess what she curled the ends which I honestly hate so much. And I asked to make sure that my hair was cut in the V shape and it's so hard to tell since the ends are curled. It's not a defined V shape and it looks like the end of a messed up paint brush. Sad to see this place no longer cares for what the customer has to say especially when we're the one paying. read more

This salon has two areas, one for nails and things, the other is the hair salon. Don't know much about the other side so I will only review the hair salon. Its just by the Indian Movie Theatre so quite easy to spot when your driving by on The Alameda. Parking is quite easy, either in front or on the street just after the salon. Its quite basic inside but the service and prices are great. I've tried other places that were rated high here on Yelp but always found that they were either too expensive or were difficult to get a haircut when I wanted one. i was in need of a quick trim and Pro Image had decent ratings on Yelp so I gave them a shot. I have long hair (almost waist length) and it only cost me $15+ 5 tip. The girl did an amazing job and i got a ton of compliments within hours. it's a small operation with only two people working but I called ahead to make an appt so there wasn't too long of a wait. There weren't any bells and whistles like other salons (no beverage offered, scalp massage, shampoo...nothing) but who needs that when it's so cheap and efficient? I washed my hair this morning and air dried it so when i got there she just went to town right away. A+ in my book. read more
