I have been taking my 2013 BMW 328i to Philip Song's Pro Auto Service Center for a number of years and highly recommend doing business with Philip! He has a highly experienced crew and is very knowledgeable and professional. His fees are very reasonable and he will do what he can to save you $$$$. Case in point he gave me an estimate today to repair some damage to my drivers side door. I had an estimate from another shop in San Rafael that I will not identify.?Their estimate was $2,200. Phillips estimate was $100. I could not help feeling both relief that I could have my car repaired without filing a claim and anger at the same time at the other supposedly reputable car repair shop. Bring your car to Pro Auto Service Center. You'll be glad you did! read more

I highly recommend Phil and Pro Auto. For their service, the quality of their work and they are fair and honest They are my go to now for 15 years. read more

One more time!!! I have using Pro Auto Service Center for many years now! And MOSTLY important?!? Honest owner mechanics! Was told by other car shop repair that I needed to replace my Tundra 2005 transmission and it would cost me around $2.5k! Philip got it done for less than $700 bucks! Thank you guys! Appreciate the greet work! read more

Phillip is very reliable and responsive to my concerns, and offered reasonable prices for my oil leak of my Subaru Outback. I really appreciated his thoroughness and expertise. He and his partner Jake really know how to take an engine apart and put it it all back together again. read more

Went to this place and thought it was a good, honest and worthy mechanic shop as I started going there but then I started realizing Everytime I go there they mention I have something that needs to be fixed like my loose strut axle when at first there was no symptoms. Then they mention that I have oil leakage at my manifold upper intake. I talked to my uncle who is also a mechanic asked if I had any symptoms from the leak and I told him no because I felt, heard and saw none. I decided to look at the upper intake manifold myself and found out there was no leakage at all. They wanted to charge me $500 for replacing the gasket. My uncle said, they're trying to suck you dry of money. I'm now going to my uncle's house to get my car checked and going elsewhere to get oil change. If you go, go at your own risk but you read my experience. Good luck. read more

These guys are super efficient, friendly, very affordable, and really helpful! I just took my 1988 van to them to check out my AC and I had them fix it because their accurate quote was too affordable to pass up. They had to order the parts to be delivered for my specific vehicle and they got the parts super fast and totally updated my AC system in just an hour or two! Definitely going to be going back to these studs whenever my van needs more maintenance or upgrades. Seriously recommend taking your vehicle to these guys for any work you may need or just give them a call and get an affordable quote. read more

I was stuck in San Rafael one evening for some car problem and saw Pro Auto. They were about to close for the evening, but the owner was nice enough to stay and help me resolved it. Even though I live in San Francisco, I've been coming to Pro Auto for a few years for oil changes and regular car maintenance. The staff and owner is friendly, efficient, and reliable. read more

I went in last Friday with a slow leak in one of my tires. I was anxious as I was heading out to Tahoe in a few hours. They found a nail and patched it promptly! It could hardly have been easier. Affordable, friendly and helpful. read more

So I went into this place blind and ignorant. This is a happy ending though, as I was very pleasantly surprised. I brought in my Audi A4 for a smog and because it needed some work and it wouldn't start and I needed to smog it. They did the work, no problem. What is more, because I was not able to pick up the car right away (and I told him to take his time because I was in the middle of a move and had no place to put my car) he held onto it for a while and didn't charge me extra storage fees or any of that nonsense. The work was done, it seemed fair, he didn't nickel and dime me and I think this is the beginning of a good relationship. Labor $96 p/hr and oil changes are cheap $29 . read more

I called them 10:30 on a Friday and made an appointment to take my car in for an oil change at 11:30. They told me it would take 45 minutes so I went and got some lunch and came back 44 minutes later and they had just finished it out. Philip the manager was nice and polite, he just has an honest look to him. They also charged me $8 less than I had been quoted at the Penzzoil 10 minute oil change place. ($72 v. $80 for synthetic oil). I'll be coming back! read more

Just went to this place for the first time for an oil change. I was in and out in 30 min which was great. What was even better was that is cost $35! I usually go to the dealership which costs double. This will be my new go-to spot for sure, for not only oil changes, but for repairs as well. read more

Honestly, I used to be an avid reviewer but not for some time have I felt compelled to write one. Pro Auto is amazing. John is a magician. I took my Honda in because the trunk latch had failed and I was in desperate need to get what was inside. He worked his magic and had me in and out inside of an hour. I was shocked my how reasonable and low the price was. Take your car here and you'll be pleasantly surprised!! read more

Great and quick service for an oil change. Friendly staff, nice waiting room, and best of all AMAZING prices.

I'm from South Texas and Pro Auto Service Center has the lowest price for oil change, just like back home. They've shown quick and friendly service every time I go. Everything in the Bay Area is extremely expensive, I call it permanent price gauging, but Pro Auto Service Center offer normal price for oil change. read more

They are awesome! Whenever my car is broken they take my car and diagnose it before they give me the final judgement lol.. Philip is awesome.. They do my car quick too! And for fair price! I only trust them when it comes to fixing my car! Other shop they will diagnose your car and tell you to buy more shit and will take you forever to get it but them they don't do that! They're straight to the point and give you results quick! read more

L A D I E S ! ! A garage YOU C A N T R U S T ! ! NO overbearing overwhelming big-show B.S. rip-offs here - just quiet EXTREMELY HONEST highly knowledgeable & professional GENTLEMEN - WHAT A TREAT! - that KNOW what they're doing, work quickly, efficiently, and at UNBEATABLE PRICES! I'm no spring chick, have had a number of mechanics in my life, have never known one the likes of Phillip (ask for him) who seems to know almost magically-quickly exactly what's wrong with my car. The place is not easy to find. There's little in front to see - just a modest office front with a single-entry garage nestled closely (I drove by it 3 times the first time I looked for it), but it's worth finding. DROP in, ask for PHILLIP - he gladly answers questions. Phillip has come out onto the road to help me; he'll do anything within his power to help and NOT RIP YOU OFF for it. All work I've had done there has been great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! read more

Called and they were able to get me right in. I was in and out in 30 minutes. The price was about 25% less than I have paid at other places in San Rafael and my car takes the synthetic oil, so that was a bonus. Very friendly people, fair, quick and no hassles. read more

I recently bought a used car from this place. I have not even been able to drive it 200 miles . It leaks oil badly and drives horribly . I took the car back once thinking I could pay them to repair it. The engine was supposedly rebuilt before I bought it. i thought buying a car from a mechanic would be a good idea . Lesson learned. read more

All I can say is that Philip the guy who runs the place is such a sweet and nice, honest guy..he always check my 2 cars out and does extra stuff ..since I have no idea about car stuff.. for example he would put some oil or whatever and sometimes does not charge me ..I would drive in and he would stop and take care of my ..since it was a quick look...and he would look at a problem I have because I do take my cars to other places like Sears & Toscalito and they charge me alot more for what this place does...I recommend my son, friends and other people to try him out..they have been taking their car to him once they know what he does ...he will try to give you a good deal ...he let me store my car there once when I had to and also put money in the meter outside if he cannot..just all the little things that makes the difference. He gives me advice, I would tell him how much another mechanic or place charges and see what he can do for me and he usually come out pretty reasonable.. and make sure he checks out everything and if he does something wrong he would re-do it or whatever...he has been there a while now...this place was run by different people prior so I can say that he really does care and make sure it is done right. He is convenient,,..and sometimes he would give me a ride back to my place if I cannot find a ride while my car is in the shop...(within reason) he goes that extra mile for you..that is why I keep going there. ... read more

I use this place for my oil changes and all minor things. I already have a mechanic, Lawrence automotive, who happens to lease his space at this place. I love him but if he ever left the country, I would then go to these people for everything. Reasonable prices, nice and competent with no arrogance, plus, I feel I can trust them. Why go to Jiffy lube when these guys do it for $29. read more

In December I brought my son's first car, a 15 year old Saab coupe for inspection. What we thought was amoderate power steering problem became a blown gasket and contaminated oil, a nasty job that costs a lot of money and takes significant time to repair. Phillip and his crew at Pro Auto were very reserved in their approach with us but completely honest throughout. We had them do the required work. Because it required the use of machine shop, we had a longer than normal waiting period but once the car was reassembled it ran better than it ever had. Since picking up the car from the shop on the final day it has worked better than before and with no hiccups. These are honest, knowledgable professionals. It's wonderful to have this business in the neighborhood. read more

Great mechanics: knowledgable, professional, quick and honest. I take my cars for oil changes and bigger projects like suspension upgrades, clutch replacement and tune ups. While my Honda was still under warranty and in for an oil change Phillip pointed out some problems with the seals and motor mounts. I was able to bring the car into Honda service and show them the pictures Pro Auto took so that the warranty repair could be made at no charge. Best mechanic in Marin! read more

I've been going to Pro Auto Service for years. Phillip and crew are very competent mechanics and extremely fair. Most of the work I need is minor but they've done some medium-sized projects on our cars. Often I can just drop off the car without an appointment for oil changes. The shop is on 4th street so I just grab a coffee, lunch or make some work calls and the car is ready in less than an hour. I ended up on Yelp finding the number to get our Mazda's brakes checked. read more
