Jake was excellent. Knowledgeable and passionate about the stories. Well worth the price and I'm already looking to book another tour

We happened to be in Seattle at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, so our party of three had Jake to ourselves. All of the true-crime stories were compelling, and she was happy to answer our many questions. We loved getting to see parts of the city we might not have otherwise explored. This tour was a great mix of crime and music history. It's also a very affordable choice for a city tour. read more

Coming from Los Angeles first time visitors to Seattle. My mom and I took this tour, we enjoyed it the most out of everything we did. Call us nerds cuz we are. But thanks to Jake we would have never ever seen the different neighborhoods that Seattle has. Had I lived there for some time I could totally see this tour being too long. Jake kept us entertained with the story and sights. I did think that we might have access to some of the sights excursively, but that was not the case. =( We wish the tour could have been available a day earlier on our three day trip. Instead of our last night there. Then we could have went back to the cool neighborhoods we drove thought. I could see how in town people could be bored by this tour. But if you visiting Seattle and are interested in ghost ,old houses and neighborhoods! This is all you! Jake was nice enough to drop us off where we parked at Pikes Market after the tour. Thanks Jake! - I would say if you didn't eat before you do the tour you will be hungry by the end. - I would recommend the tour, but if your the type that can't sit still you'll have issues. - The stickers (Logo) on the side of the van scream tourist! You will pass more than a few bars with jokers. That was kind of a turn off. I like to be more inconspicuous when I do my ghost hunting! =P read more

I was excited about this tour. Learning about haunted places around Seattle, sounds like fun right? Not so much... The stories were ok, didn't really explain much just this waitress saw an orb here, this bartender saw a person there. Just didn't make the stories interesting. This was a driving tour with 2 stops where you get to get out and walk around, but it was hard to figure out sometimes which buildings she was talking about since it was hard to see out the windows. It seemed like the 2.5 hour tour could have been cut down to a 1.5 hour tour... We drove around in a lot of circles, I think the route could have been laid out a lot better. By the end we were bored and hungry since the tour starts at 6pm and goes to 8:30pm so we had to eat dinner afterwards. I would not recommend this tour. read more

My husband and I took the Capitol Hill tour with Jake on June 1st. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned a lot. Jake is super knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. We were excited to see parts of Seattle we definitely wouldn't have even known existed if we hadn't done the tour. Jake was also extremely accommodating with our drop off location which was very helpful! A super fun experience! Would definitely do another private eye tour again. read more

Originally planned as a quick, quirky outing for our visit to Seattle, the Capitol Hill tour ended up as one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide, Jake, shared her wealth of knowledge about the dark past behind the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding Capitol Hill. The tour itself was a mixture of scenic site-seeing, history lesson, and accounts of the shocking and infamous murders that have occurred throughout Seattle. The tour was mostly by van with a few stops at scenic and historic locations. Jake has an encyclopedic knowledge of the city and shared the interesting tid-bits behind each notable house, street, and gravestone. Be prepared.. because the stories that accompany the tour can be chilling. The tour ran about 3 hours and cost $30 plus tax. We were picked up from our downtown hotel and dropped off at Pike Place Market. It's a local, low-key business and the van is not luxurious, but the content and the experience were exactly what we wanted plus much more! If you're a fan of true crime and share a morbid interest in characters like Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgway, then this is definitely the trip for you! We're already looking forward to taking the Queen Anne tour the next time we're in town! read more

I took my boyfriend and parents on this tour not really knowing what to expect. It was their first time in Seattle and so on a whim I decided this may be a good way to see the city and history without burning ourselves out walking all day. It ended up being fantastic. Jake took us all over the Seattle area highlighting various events and sights such as Jimmi Hendrix statue and high school, Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves, Black Hole Sun and Volunteer Park, true crime from the 1960s to the present day, Kurt Cobain's house, etc. It has a bit of everything for those that like music, history, true crime and sightseeing. She also seemed to know a lot of the rare inside stories of the city that you wouldn't get to hear about just touring museums on your own. She also let us stop long enough to take pictures if we wanted to. She was also a great narrator and super friendly. A bonus: we had some issues finding long term parking around Lake Union where she picks you up. So because it was only the 4 of us touring that day, Jake actually took us around for 2 hours and then brought us back to our car so we could feed the meter again before enjoying the second leg of our tour. Highly recommended. read more

Jake and this tour were fantastic! We took this tour on a Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2019. Jake was helpful answering questions beforehand, and she arrived promptly at the scheduled time. She took us through several neighborhoods in the Capitol Hill area, and was very knowledgeable and informative about the history and stories. She's a great storyteller and made the whole thing fun, even for a local who joined us for the tour - he learned some things he didn't know after 35 years in Seattle! We highly recommend Private Eye Tours, even if you're only slightly interested in true crime, you'll enjoy the view, exploring areas you would not have visited on your own, and it's a great way to spend an afternoon! read more

This was such a fun tour (Capital Hill). Jake is super fun and knowledgable and my husband and I loved the time we spent with her. I will easily book again. Thank you for a great day. read more

I took the Jazz, Booze and Broads tour. Jake conducts the tour in the character of a 1930s flapper. She brought an interesting part of Seattle's history to vivid life. The amount of research she did is incredible, but Jake make the tour seem spontaneous. She encouraged us to ask questions. Lovers of blues and jazz must take this tour, if only to discover how many well-respected musicians played the after-hours clubs of Seattle! read more

My family and I were lucky enough to be the only ones booked on the night of our tour. We originally wanted to do the Capitol Hill True Crime Tour but the Haunted Happenings ghost tour was the only one available for the time we were in Seattle. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! Jake was so knowledgeable and drove all around the city to show us different haunted locations. She gave us a thorough background at each location and answered any and all questions we had. I'm not usually one to get "eerie" feelings but the last stop on the tour definitely had me feeling spooked for the rest of the night. It gave a whole new perspective to the city and had us saying "I bet that place is haunted" everywhere we went for the remainder of our trip. If you are in town I would definitely recommend one of her tours. Next time I visit Seattle, I will for sure be taking the capitol hill tour. Thanks Jake! read more

We had an amazing tour with Jake! We did the crime scene tour and it was terrific! We will definitely take another tour with her next time we are in Seattle! read more

We went on this tour last week and certainly got our money's worth! Not only are there some scary spots but you get to see many areas of Seattle as well. We found out that not all ghosts reside in the Market but are scattered through out the city . We highly recommend the Haunted Happenings: Seattle Ghost Tour to both locals and visitors to Seattle. read more

I own my own ghost tour company in New York City. After taking this tour, I learned even more about the supernatural, and I thought I knew everything! I spent 3 days with the very nice and lovely Jake exploring Seattle, WA. Every day I was picked up/dropped off right from my hotel. (So convenient!!!) We drove around the ENTIRE city and got to get out at various places, including a very old (and creepy) graveyard! Her van is very big so crowd are easily accommodated, and she speaks into a microphone so that everyone can hear clearly. Unlike other tours, you're able to ask questions (not just ghost/true-crime related) to a real Seattle native who knows what she is talking about. Jake was very good at customizing each trip based on the audience's interests. I even got to go see where "Frasier lived" cause she knew I was a big fan! P.S. Thank you for recommending "The Stranger Beside Me," I loved it! read more

We went on the newer Ghosts of Seattle Tour and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jake! The tour was so much fun and she has so much knowledge. There were only two of us but she shuttled us around like royalty. She is an amazingly good driver. Not too reckless, not too cautious, and is somebody you like right away when you meet her. As I said before, Jake knows a ton of history about the city. I even pointed to a random building/condo I liked and she knew the architect and pointed out his other designs along the way. She was open to all questions and answered them fully with really interesting details. We got out a couple of times at a church, a bar and a civil war veterans cemetery and took our time listening to Jake and the history. We cant wait to go on another tour with her. read more

Went on this tour 8/16. It was very fun and educational! I most defiantly will be going again once it starts getting darker!

Jake knows EVERYTHING about Seattle. I've been on two tours & absolutely loved them. The night time ghost tour was my fave. I will never forget the Wah Mee Club, Amazon Headquarters, the cemetery, Ted Bundy's old apartment & Keel's Irish Pub aka The Butterworth Mortuary. Make sure you take your camera. You will be surprised at what you might capture. I was! read more

Just home from doing the Private Eye Tour - we went from Lake Union, through downtown, the Market, the International District, Georgetown, the Comet Lodge Cemetery, Beacon Hill, Capitol Hill, the U-District and back to our starting point. It was excellent. Jake, our tour guide, delivered some incredible stories and history with respect and such professionalism, it was just so much fun. My favorite part was Georgetown and the Comet Lodge Cemetery. The history was enchanting. She weaves together a storyline through the city that makes the history very immediate. What was so wonderful was the respect she had for her subject matter. The tour started with some educational points about ghosts in general. From there the stories were location based. And while I think it must be hard to have a driving tour in Seattle, and it was 6:00 (the end of rush hour) she has perfectly planned the route - It seemed effortless. I really appreciated her nature, humor, and intellect. I also appreciated that she circled the locations and prompted her stories with where to look, what to look for. It was a broad sweeping tour (meaning that it covered so much of the city - and I liked that) and it is obvious she has planned the route. That really showed in the delivery. I highly recommend this tour and Jake. Great work! read more

No, just no. I can't even begin to tell you about the ridiculousness of the tour that we went on recently while on a trip to Seattle. I have been on many ghost tours across the U.S. and abroad and I had high hopes for this tour because I always like to hear a bit of history along with some creepy legends so this tour looked like the perfect match! Sadly, I was mistaken. Though Jake, the tour guide, was a very nice woman I hated how rehearsed and memorized her entire talk was from the moment we entered the van. Note to those of you that do go, the van is literally that...a 9 passenger van where 3 people are stuck in the middle at all times. Jake takes you on a 3 hour tour and I was a little nervous that I got stuck on that boat from Gilligans Island and was never going to make it home. She drives you round and round in circles to see all of these locations, but it is pitch black out so there is literally nothing to see. We stopped 2 times (perhaps to relieve the passengers nausea from the van). The first stop was at an old church and it was pretty interesting...I was still hanging onto hopes at this point. The 2nd stop was at a church turned into a bar (a rather popular one...with a lot of people) so we all just showed our IDs to go in and then be looked at very oddly by the staff and turned right back around. Maybe Jake should contact this bar and find a way to get guests a discount on a drink or perhaps give them a block of time to actually sit and enjoy the place...it was weird. The 2nd stop was a civil war graveyard...with nothing to see. All of the "ghost" stories were really generic. Some of the history was more interesting. Jake claims to be a "paranormal" investigator, but I think she just attends meetings and conferences. She said on several occasions that she would be "scared" to go into a basement or a place that would be too creepy...um, isn't that what paranormal investigators basically live for? So confused about the entire night. I hate to give her tour such a low review, but it really was just terribly boring (even for a history buff like me). Perhaps I should also note that I, and my friend that went with me, teach public speaking for a living so maybe we are just a little critical...but if anything, I do feel that gives us a bit of credibility. I try very hard to be understanding and open minded, but this one will just have to go down in the record books as a major vacation flop. read more

A must do for any true crime enthusiast. The owner Jake was an awesome guide full of juicy stories and little tidbits of information, for anyone interested in the sometimes not so pretty end to a humans life. We definitely got our monies worth, it was not a short skimpy tour. She filled it with lots of details and sites. She had an awesome personality and was very kind to our son. We will definitely take the tour again. When we come back to Seattle we will look into taking her other tours. read more
