We had a great experience renting from here! We reserved 2 carts several months before our trip. When we arrived on 4/25, they had our reservation ready to go. They told us to stop in every 2 days to have the gas tank filled. We had an early flight on 5/2 so I asked how we should go about returning the carts and retrieve our ID's. We were told to stop in the day before to grab our ID's and they showed us where to park the carts and drop the keys. About 5 days into our trip one of the carts would not go into gear so it couldn't be driven. My son in law called them, explained the problem and within 30 minutes someone came to our location to bring us a replacement cart. We stayed on the south end of the island, so the carts were necessity. Were the carts new? No. Were they in the greatest condition? No Did they get us everywhere we needed/wanted to go? Yes! We will 100% reserve and rent from them again on our next trip to Isla! Worked out great for us! read more

We were quoted a price and told there was a 10% fee to use credit card. Said we'd pay cash. Then they told us they would waive the fee but when the charge came thru they blamed the machine. $64 overpaid and they wouldn't refund it. Then wanted a tip on top of that. They say that in Mexico a tourist is scammed every 60 seconds. If so then 50% of them happen at Prisma Cart Rental. My experience, as you might have guessed from the *star* count, was awful. The carts rented out by Prisma are the dregs of the island. Bald mismatched tires are a comical touch to a litany of safety issues. The Brakes are worn to the point which they barely stop the cart. The alignment so out of wack that handling this jalopy is kinda guesswork. Oh... and the carts brake down constantly. Sure it was annoying that our cart would randomly stall out whilst in operation... but it totally died 6 hours after renting. I had to push it back to the hotel. The place closes at 5pm so yea, we had to use the islands taxi services instead of the cart we rented. Did I mention that they have signs and advertise that they accept credit cards.... But when you get there say it is broken? And from conversations with other customers... it's been broken for years. Every other cart on the island has a chain lock. You wrap it around the steering wheel to secure it from theft... but at Prisma they refuse to supply one. When I protested three of the guys there got very loud and confrontational. Oh yea! They give you very little gas and refuse to refill you until you completely empty the tank. This is annoying considering there is no gas gauge so you have to repeatedly revisit the guys at Prisma and beg them for a drop of gas... which they refuse and pretend they are doing something on their phones... they truly just stare at the home screen not actually doing anything on their phones. The golf cart was in good condition and their prices were less than the other nearby ones we saw. We rode around the entire island with no issues whatsoever. We came here prior to the current COVID-19 pandemic in early March. If you're only spending a short while here, the best way to get around on Isla Mujeres (aka "Ripoff Island") is by golf cart. There are many rental places right near the ferry. Unlike Cancun, you have to bargain for just about everything here, including the golf cart rentals. We ended up renting from Prisma Golf Cart Rentals and settled on a price of $600 pesos (about $30 US) for an hour. This was the best price I found and the cart was fine. Be aware: in order to rent the vehicle, they take possession of your driver's license and only return it when you return the vehicle. Also, if you are 5 minutes late, they will charge you for another hour (so don't be late!). Still, they are the most inexpensive of the golf cart rentals that I found while we were here, so I have to recommend them. read more

Cheapest golf cart rental that I have found on Isla @ $950 pesos/day (24 hrs), including gas. I have rented from them 4 times since 2011, with last time being 11/2019, and never had any problems. If you are looking for the best deal in town, this is it. Would recommend getting a lock - not sure if it comes with it - you may be asked to put down an additional $300 peso deposit. They will hold your US drivers license and give it back to you when you return the cart - not a big deal. Update: My last rental in 11/2019, I booked a week golf cart rental in advance via email (jesuscontrerasb@hotmail.com) and used a 10% discount coupon (http://www.isla-mujeres.net/rentadoras/prisma/couponmap.htm) and cash discount. I received an email confirmation for my reservation. When I got there I was given some BS story about how I was not going to get a cart because I didn't reserve the cart in advance. Nowhere on the website does it say advance reservation necessary AND the guy at the counter told me "oh you can't rely on that app for reservations". This place is a scam, don't rent from here. We asked for pricing and they told us $80. I said that's too much and requested for $60 for a daily rental. The man said what do you want, for free? In a sarcastic and rude tone of voice. They agreed to $60 but once we attempted to pick up the golf cart, they told us that the price is only good for one hour, instead of the daily rate. They never disclosed this at the beginning and we requested to get our money back. They told us that they weren't able to refund our credit card transaction because they "don't have a machine" and they cannot cancel the transaction. We requested cash back or cancel our transaction and they told us they are not able to do that. DON'T RENT HERE! This place has been a BAD experience! We prepaid online and set a pick up time that was an estimate. Got to the island early on a public holiday so when we went in early we were told we had to come back. Went back at the assigned time and were given a crappy cart with bald tires, no parking brakes, and no lock, but we were told that was all they had. It moved so slow that we took it back as soon as they opened. Got a slightly faster one but still with bald tires, no parking brakes, and no lock. That was ok until it had to sit for 2 days! I hurt my leg and we couldn't go anywhere while it was healing. So we go out and it won't start! We're going to try to make an exchange again but we don't have a lot of faith it will be any better! read more

A friend and I have used this golf cart rental company several time and haven't had any negative issues. We usually get a great rate and a nice cart. Our previous rental in October 2017 did have problems. The golf cart had issues with backfiring and loud idling. We took it back and was given another one, no charge or fees what so ever. The new cart was very fast and ran smoothly. Its quick acceleration and steady speed made trips across the island very enjoyable. We blew past other tourist in similar golf carts on the road. It was fun! The day before we were scheduled to leave Isla Mujeres, we stopped in and asked Prisma management what our options are for the cart return because we needed to catch the early morning ferry and they will not be opened. They worked with us. They gave me my license back and told us to park the cart outside their office, lock the steering wheel and leave the keys under the seat. We did it and made our way back to Cancun for our early flight. This year, October 2018, we got another great rate and a fast golf cart again. I can't speak for other reviewers that gave poor ratings, perhaps an isolated case of a bad employee or mistakenly attributing a bad experience to Prisma, but I've had nothing but good service and carts from this business. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM PRISMA! I thought I'd try a new golf cart company ( idk why) and it was horrible. We got our cart drove it to our hotel on the other side of the island, and the brakes were almost non existant, the steering wheel was SO loose and the parking brake didn't even function. We had to put rocks behind our wheels so it wouldn't roll away. We called the second day asking if we could exchange it and they said yes just bring it in- so uncomfortably we drove it the 20 -25 min to the north end to exchange it and upon arrival they said actually they have no carts to exchange - come back in the morning. Wehn we come to isla we stay in the middle and south end on purpose so we don't have to deal the hectic side of the north so that's already very inconvenient. We decided to just keep the cart so we didn't have to make the trek again and we would just barely drive it. On our last day we have to leave very early ( before the shop opens) so I had called and asked how that would work with getting our license back they keep while you have the cart and they said " bring the cart today and we will give your license and show you where to drop the key in morning with the cart." I confirmed saying " so we bring the cart now, you give us the license and we drop the cart in the morning?" They said yes. So again we made the trek there and of course, the story had changed when we got there and they said nevermind we would have to bring it back that night ( for some reason????) so we just turned in the cart a day early since there was no other choice. So we paid for an extra day we didn't get, spent all the time driving to and from the place. we surely couldn't be the first ones to have to catch the early ferry and need to turn the cart in before they open. ** super disappointed in this rental place, beware- just go with isla mujeres rental - they give you a good wuality cart and would make sure someone is there to receive the cart or send a person to the cart. Dec 2021 we rented two large carts from Prisma. I was 'warned" ahead of time that these are not the best carts but less expensive. I have no issue with older banged up carts but we did expect it to be functional enough to take us around the island. Unfortunately we spent hours throughout our one week vacation returning to their facility trying to get a reliable cart. In total we went to their rental office four times, had three different carts: first one had a broke seat, second one stopped going in reverse, the completely bald tire we questioned (and they said was fine) went flat at dinner and had to take the bus, and the final cart was very slow and had horrible exhaust. When I asked for a few extra hours with the last cart to compensate the time we lost I was "dismissed" and then he refused to speak to me. My recommendation is to NOT rent from Prisma. read more

Signed up online to rent a cart for 8 days. Upon arrival, was told to return at the end of the 7th day to add the 8th day. When I did so I was rudely informed it was reserved and no other cart was available, however he could find me one from another company--at twice their posted daily rate! The first cart's transmission was so bad the cart would lurch 3' when the gas pedal was engaged from a stop. Traded it in for a better one, but the second cart died and left me stranded in the middle of an intersection-at night-and had to be pushed to the curb with the help of strangers. This place was a little hard to find at first. If you leave the Ferry Terminal, it is about 2 blocks before the beach on the right side of the road. We received a full day rental after viewing a time share, but we couldn't find the place, so we didn't get there until about 4:15pm. The guy at the counter let us ride until 5:00 (when they closed). We had cart #12 and it had a good amount of power and speed. No problems with the cart at all, except the brakes were a little slow, but wasn't bad. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had renting anything. I paid online with a different company named isla mujeres, taste of Isla. They sent me to Prisma on the main street for the cart. These guys gave me an old cart that the key wouldn't even stay in. I drove it 2 kilometers to a beach and then when I tried to drive it again it wouldn't start. After 20 min it finally started and I returned it. I went to speak to the owner and he lied and told me that it was new. "News flash" not new. Not even new 10 years ago. These people do not take care of their carts and then get offended and start yelling at you when you complain. Zero stars is the correct number. Absolutely the worst experience with a rental ever. A broke pogo stick would have worked better. Piece of s--t! Don't go here. They will not take care of you or refund you when you have an issue. They are rude and disrespectful especially to women. They speak horribly about customers in Spanish under their breath. I lived in Mexico for years and am fluent and had to walk out to cool off about how they were talking about a female customer that was challenging a broken key charge. Yes if anything goes wrong with the ignition, key or lock they will charge you. Their carts are unsafe with bald tires, bad breaks and steering and cheap locks that anyone could break or start up your cart. The manager was in on it and apparently homies with his employees as they trashed customers. This is the worse business i have seen on the island after more then 15 visits. Rent a cart from a better company for a day save money and time by taking a taxi or the tourists route buses. They don't deserve a single star. read more

Good place to rent golf cart. I have rented here 12 times over the years. Prisma always gives me the best rates for weekly and daily rentals, which is usually much cheaper than other companies on the island. I am always quoted a price to be paid in U.S. cash (I only use Peso other than renting my golf cart). Reserve before your trip and they provide a reservation number. If I have had a problem, they are more than helpful in resolving the issue. They offer to deliver cart to hotel if necessary, but I like to walk to their business from the ferry. It is only a brief walk by crossing the street and walking North a few blocks. Gas and insurance is included, just come back every other day and they fill up the tank. I recommend Prisma, so go ahead and rent a cart and explore the island. read more

After the weekend rental I asked if they could give me a ride back to my hotel and owner said no.
