Instead there are lots of higher-end stores ranging from designer clothing to designer cosmetics and designer gadgets. Actually, it's not all second-mortgage shopping here - there are some 'normal' shops too, they're just a bit nicer than most high street equivalents. There are oodles of places to get a snack on the way round, like Starbucks etc. and there is a giant foodhall with choices for the discerning and not so discerning among you. On that note, a trip to Bluewater isn't complete without a trip to Ed's Diner - have one of their awesome burgers and a spectacular milkshake to find out why. Just make sure you eat when you're finished shopping though as you will just about be able to stagger to your car afterwards with the feeling in your belly. If you go at Christmas there are some superb lights outside as you approach the car parks - giant deers are among the best ones, but be warned, it can get super busy there too. Ample parking means it's not such a chore to go and the whole place is big enough that you don't feel crammed in - it's akin to a lot of the big malls in the States, and one of the best shopping trips (if there is such a thing) you can make in this country.

All of the usual big name shops are inside with fashion, music, stationers, jewellery and electronic stores making up the bulk of businesses. You won't find everything you want here but for the basics, it is alright. Footfall appears to have fallen since the opening of Bluewater a few years back meaning that it isn't as busy as other malls. It can get busy during the school rush as Bexleyheath is the changing point for practically every route home in the Bexley borough. Plenty of parking is available in the multistory on site meaning you can shop and drop your goods off in your car before continuing shopping. Buses run to and from the whole Bexley borough although it is worth noting that The Mall is nowhere near the train station. The place has undergone a refurbishment recently which makes it look a lot nicer than it used to. It has public toilet facilities upstairs as well which is very useful for when you are spending whole days in Bexleyheath. For cold, horrible rainy days, The Mall sure beats the local High Streets.

Perhaps you don't normally wear red and you just want a t-shirt you can wear once and then either use to paint, or maybe to mop up spilled drinks. What I'm getting at here, is that I needed a cheap... CHEAP piece of cloth, that was red, would suitably cover my, ever-growing, man boobs and didn't make me look too ridiculous (which is pretty hard). Primark was just the ticket... After dodging the minion-emblazed beach t-shirts and the tweety-bird 'gangsta' tops, I found what I wanted. A t-shirt... That was red... And pretty much fit my boobs. All for the princely sum of £7. Lovely. This is the sort of situation that makes Primark shine. Don't get me wrong. The staff STILL hate working there. They all look like they'll kill you with a clothes hanger if you dare ask them a question. AND they still take an age to serve you at the till. But you know what... I don't care. If I want to feel like the sun shines out of my arse while I'm buying a t-shirt... I'll go elsewhere. If I want a pretty decent top, for basically no money. Primark is where I go. Price wise you should not expect to part with a few pounds for most items in the shop. A majority are cheaper than you would find them in most other shops and aren't great quality but will probably last long enough to say you've had your moneys worth. Parking outside the shop is a big no-no as that section of Bexley Road is very narrow and even the slightest obstruction brings the whole village to a standstill. The best place to park is the pay and display car park in Mill Road just a short walk away.

Obviously not the centre's fault it was so popular that day but it did spoil the experience for me.
