Discount City is a thrift shop which has been part of Northumberland Heath ever since I can remember. In terms of the products it sells, there's nothing there which is too special. It is mainly housewares such as plastic boxes and kitchen supplies (cleaning goods, basic china and glassware) as well as a few cheap toys and games for the kids. There are a few gift type shelves with ornaments and random tat, for instance I looked a few times at a small statue of a westie wearing a jumper which might have gone with the rest of my mum's weird china dog collection, but I resisted.
Price wise you should not expect to part with a few pounds for most items in the shop. A majority are cheaper than you would find them in most other shops and aren't great quality but will probably last long enough to say you've had your moneys worth.
Parking outside the shop is a big no-no as that section of Bexley Road is very narrow and even the slightest obstruction brings the whole village to a standstill. The best place to park is the pay and display car park in Mill Road just a short walk away. read more
