I lived in Colombia for 6 months a few years ago and this is not just the closest I've been since I'd say I'm pretty much there when I have a set meal - almuerzo at the back of the market. It has a great family atmosphere and some interesting stalls. It is under immediate threat of demolition at the moment. To be replaced by chain stores and luxury flats. But a major campaign is underway. Check out this site for more information: wardscornercommunity.org.uk

The first time I went past Sven Sisters underground station I walk ed right past it. If fact I only found it walking in to a cafe only to find it had a door at the back into this hidden Latino world. There was music playing sunny tunes, with children dancing around, old people just chatting away in Spanish. The place seems more on eone gaint social club than a load of shops. Had a huge meal with fresh juice, followed by a Colombain strong coffee. Than just enjoyed the vibe. Often pop in when passing. Top tip go on saturday for a hair cut, a meal, stock up on books, dvds, music for learning the language. Or just pop into for a coffee or frozen juice on a stick. And if all this eating and drinking gets too much there is always the suit and corset maker to hide the sins.

When moving hous this is pretty much my one stop shop, it's a cross between a pound store on one side and right next door is this discount store that sells things for slightly more but are still a bargain. Don't be afraid to haggle too, I always do, and no it never really works they just point at the price tag and shrug but at least I'm trying! I have bought a fabulous soft rug here for my new flat, not the prettiest thing in the world but it was well over 10ft square and only cost £60. Other stuff they do is washing lines, tea pots, random crap that you don't need but suddenly think you do when you're in there and more. Seriously, if you are in the area make sure you pop in. It's a great random store.

Great when you move into a new place and need things to make the place look and smell pretty; candles, incense, cheap vases etc. I always bulk buy coat hangers from here as they're cheap and useful. Great for large quantities of batteries, washing powder and shampoo. Also good for fairy lights and Christmas decoration, a really useful resource for those with no money but will to decorate. I dare you to pop in and find nothing you want to buy...

A very wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables. The fresh herbs and leaves are especially good value compared to the main British supermarkets. Personally I have a short list of regular items I buy from the International Supermarkets, items that are not usually available in Sainsbury's for example. - Tim's Cypriot Style Yogurt (British made) - Halloumi cheese - Goat's & sheep's cheese - Interesting range of sweet and hot peppers - Huge bunches of fresh flat-leafed parsley - Olives from the deli counter - Fresh Turkish style bread (before I got the breadmaker) - Cold-Extracted Olive Oil They also have impressive sections for dried pulses and grains including Bulgar, cous-cous, fragrant rice and all the colours of lentils under the sun. The pasta section is interesting too, from the minute up to pre-formed cannelloni tubes.

Olives are sold at much less than you'd find them at fancy food markets, and while you are there don't forget to check out the spices to the left of the olive counter. Beans and pulses of all kinds are on offer, also a huge variety of nuts and dried fruits. Well worth a visit even if it's just to look around. The manager may ask you to leave big bags at the front of the store, due to the ongoing problem they have with shop lifting!

I love this place…read more It's massive, the biggest B&M I've ever seen. There is even a huge garden centre at the back and parking so you can transport all your wares. I really like B&M though the products to tend to be a little inconsistent. They always have a large range of non perishable food and the things they do have are around half the price of the supermarket alternatives and in many cases cheaper than the pound shops round the corner. The things that impressed me on this visit was the sheer range of household/kitchen implements for big names like Tefal or Kenwood at very low prices. I would dare say that the range is even better than you'll find in IKEA. This particular store had larger items like TVs, heaters and even Silentnight beds. They also seemed to have a huge amount of halloween things this time, way better than anywhere else Id seen. I ddn't get to see the gardening area properly but from the outside it also looked huge. If you want to follow the deals I'd recommend looking here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/bmstores.co.uk Generally this this place is a bit of a revalation and even better its close to where I work! Good times!

Picked up a toilet seat whilst i was there. Went to fit the toilet seat today and there are pieces missing, and one of the bolts does not fit. Clearly a faulty return that had just been put back on the shelf. No doubt when I return they will be apologetic - but its just not good enough. Their lack of knowledge, incompetency etc. costs their customer wasted time, and money. Shop there if you want this kind of service
