Horrible! I hope the city changes waste management! Staff is rude, made a complaint with Sterling Heights public works!

When I signed up with this company, I EXPLAINED that I'd PREFER to pay on a month to month basis…read moreand was ASSURED that this would be okay. The invoices would come quarterly BUT paying month to month was fine. It wasn't okay. Missed recycling collection during the 'fully paid' up months and spotty service in between. Finally, after getting a bill, making a payment and calling (After sitting on hold for 30 minutes..) about why my trash was missed once again, I was greeted with a very UNPLEASANT customer service representive. One who told me that there was 'No way the person who signed you up for that would tell you that it's okay to pay monthly because they've worked here for 25 years..I sit right next to her... " Her co-worker most certainly did say that. I don't care if they've taken lunch and breaks together for 30 years, she said it. It was the caveat that made me sign up for the service. I have it notated on my phone on that calendar date. I take thorough notes of EVERYTYHING. I know what I heard. As I told her, I worked customer service for years so I certainly didn't start off with an attitude because I know things happen & honestly, that's not always the best way to get a resolution yet she had one. A major one. It was clear on this day, she wasn't offering any 'resolutions'. She definitely told me that it would cost more to sign up somewhere else so I might as well pay them but THAT'S NOT WHAT I ASKED HER FOR. I was calling to get the trash picked up NOW because the second guy wouldn't be coming for another 3 hours on a normal day. She wasn't trying to offer that solution. The customer service rep also told me that my account was cancelled in Feb. and that not only should have their been no pickups made and I was 'lucky they picked up any trash for me.." since then but no INVOICES WERE GENERATED FROM THAT POINT ON. Nor had any payments been made since then. Want to take a wild guess what's in my email folder and on THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE ON MY ACCOUNT? Want to guess what else was made during that time period? You get three and the first two don't count. Yup. Invoices. Including one for 6/21/23. One that was NOT THE AMOUNT that she said I needed to continue my service. It was less than because in the system's eyes, my account was in good enough standing to still receive service and had been so since Feb. An amount that doesn't reconcile with not only the amount the system says I owe but doesn't reconcile with the amount she claimed I hadn't paid. At first, she tried to say I hadn't paid anything since Feb. and that is why I had spotty recycling service. I was not 'lucky' they came and got my trash. They received payment. The end. She then backtracked towards the end of the conversation after trying to get me to pay TODAY for services that should have never been 'cancelled'. There isn't that much 'system' catching up in the World to justify this kind of service or lack of information. Imagine, if I'd just paid what the system said I owed and STILL NOT GOTTEN SERVICE NEXT WEEK, which is EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. She DID ask me, rhetorically, what I'd like done but made NO ATTEMPTS at giving me that explanation. Just snide remarks and then a dismissive salutation, which I obliged with a simple 'Goodbye'. Called right back and sat another 25 minutes to reconcile the bill because the trash still need to be picked up and I don't live in a place where the city collects. The company knows this though so this is partly why they are so snide about things. The second customer service rep was a bit nicer. I did refer her to the notes on my account so that we could just to the business of paying the account and guess what she did. Quoted me the wrong bill AGAIN and assured me that paying that amount would satisfy the service. I did tell her the 'true amount' from the last CS person, who should have put that in her notes btw, so that I would HOPEFULLY GET SERVICE NEXT WEEK. I asked her to notate that my recycling hadn't been picked up regularly since November and this CS person proceeds to tell me it's because of non payments in FEB. Same attitude as the first. Had to set her straight too and ask her is 'Not listening to your customers a THEME OR SOMETHING because I said since NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR..I get that I'm 'lucky' you guys picked up my trash since my service was canceled but I'm CERTAINLY NOT LUCKY YOU provided shoddy service the entire time I've been with you.. All I'm asking is that you NOTATE THE ACCOUNT. That's it. Nothing more.. " No supervisor in today. (Shocking.) Letters? They come sporadically if they come. @ bills. Only way I know what I THOUGHT I OWED was via the online account. One that CLEARLY doesn't reflect for MONTHS what I truly owe. As soon as I can, I will find another company so this won't be an issue much longer. I just wanted to come here and let it be known the kind of things one might get when dealing with this company.

Consistently late and often misses pick ups altogether. Ever since they bought out our local…read moreservice it has been nothing but poor service. If you have other options I would certainly consider them before GFL.
