The staff that works here are very helpful. They take a great deal of recycled materials including styrofoam, paper, old paint and other chemicals, metal appliances and electronics and old medications. They have a very quick paper shredder. I'm a new to the area, and I had a very easy time when I visited for the first time to drop off yard waste in the off season. Everything was clearly labeled and easy to find, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the facilities were well-maintained. It compared very favorably with my previous experiences recycling centers in California. I'm looking forward to returning with specialty recycling items. read more

This is easily the best recycling depot I've ever used in all the places I've lived, run by an equally put-together organization. It's open to the public, always very clean and well-kept, and signs make it clear what goes where. They take nearly everything most people would want to recycle. There are still a couple quite uncommon types of items they can't yet process, but they're constantly working to expand their capabilities- that's something I've never seen any other similar organization. So this is a recycling center...never thought I'd be reviewing this. It's been made aware to me that this has been the go-to place to dispose of cooking oils, automotive oils, electronics, really anything. They've made some changes most notably no appointments needed. I've never been here when appointments were required but from what I hear, it used to be a lot better organized. Now it's just unnecessarily difficult to drive through the center. Wednesday they're open until 5:30. The other weekdays til 3:30 I believe. It's complicated to set the hours here b/c there are different hours depending on the area of the facility and the type of product up for recycling. It's a busy intersection to get in and out of but for those who need a reference, it's across from the Meijer in Royal Oak. Signs are a little small to see each of the categories that they have set up to dispose goods in. There are workers there to help guide the process but the place isn't organized that well. I've been more environmentally aware so this might be the only place or one of the few places that takes oils so it's not a good idea to just dispose of the stuff around your house. Definitely worth checking out as everyone ends up stocking on oils, electronics, and other essentials gone non-essential with the time and one might need to get rid of these. read more

This place is horrible. Not only do they make their employees work in unsafe conditions such as deteriorating asbestos covered pipes, Backed up sewer drains, 100's of birds crapping everywhere, On you, machines, floors, doors, where you eat, ETC. There is NO working ventilation for fumes. There transfer station is so out of code, I can't believe they haven't been shut down yet and fined..... They also have no consideration for employees. They fire you with no cause. Even if you show up on time and bust your butt at work. I WISH OSHA would inspect that place. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! read more

What a dump! People are throwing trash everywhere. Some people were recycling as well. Cheap way to get rid of all that useless junk you have. Would highly recommend. read more
