I recently purchased a Hyundai Sonota from Priority Hyundai, and while I did run into an issue shortly after bringing the car home, I want to recognize how well the situation was handled. What could have turned into a very frustrating experience was completely turned around thanks to the sales manager and team. They stepped in, communicated clearly, and made sure everything was taken care of quickly and professionally. I truly appreciate the way they handled things and made it right. Getting an appointment for an oil change is ridiculous. If you get an early morning appointment and drop your vehicle off the night before so they have it first thing in the morning for your appointment, they take until 5pm to get it done. What's the point of the appointment if they're still going to take all day to do the oil change. Makes me reconsider on buying my next vehicle for my wife there. Great job Priority. read more

Probably should have negative stars for this. BLUF: This service department is woefully inadequate. Priority Hyundai had my car for a month to troubleshoot a couple of idiot lights. I repeatedly told them that I had purchased the extended warranty when I bought the car from them. Last week I told my service advisor once again that I had the extended warranty and she acted like it was new information. The next day she finally tried to send in the warranty paperwork and apparently couldn't. Initially I said I would send the paperwork in in order to get my car back finally. I changed my mind when I realized I wouldn't have any better luck than she did. I called the corporate number and they told me they would contact the dealer. The dealer doesn't answer their phones. The option is given to leave a message but they don't get them apparently. This is ALWAYS a problem. I went to see them yesterday and once again it was like starting over. The entire business has the recall of a goldfish. My wife and I were explaining our frustration not yelling but certainly obviously upset. There was zero accountability on their end and when I told the service advisor that again one of her partners started to jump in as if to protect her. They told my wife there was no manager on duty but miraculously one showed up. She didn't help but she was there. We eventually paid for the warranted repairs and took the car. They said they would contact the warranty company. Anybody want to bet about that? This is the latest in terrible customer care from this place. I could write another three reviews on how badly I was treated when my engine blew up but I will leave you with this tidbit: when they finally rebuilt my engine I noticed my AC wasn't working great. I didn't do anything with it but last month I realized that I needed to. Priority had no (so called) appointments in the time I needed so I took it to Pep Boys. Turns out when the Hyundai certified professionals rebuilt my car they forgot to plug my engine cooling fan in. I'm damn lucky I didn't overheat my engine. I haven't seen one good review left here for the past month and I completely understand why. Year 6 dealing with the absolute worst dealership you can ever think exists. THEY were out of stock of what I needed to pass state inspection, so they put a "rejected" sticker on my car (????) making me lose the rest of the month like I would have had, to get it fixed, forcing me to only have 14days as if I have nothing going on in Life to just chase after parts & services for 14 days straight. I had no expectations, but this is literally working backwards!!! they intentionally want you to stop coming there to execute the services they offer you free for life... like, why offer it if it's going to be literally bottom barrel and you complain about having to do it the entire time? This place sucks, plain n simple. every aspect, mechanics to the front desk, to the people you don't get to see. It's a collective effort to be this bad, and owner, please do not respond to this, if you cared about the experience of the customer, you would have made a change at the first 50+ bad/1 star reviews. If you think oh I would love to have lifetime oil changes, state inspections etc., etc. Go somewhere else-anywhere else, do yourself that favor! From Battery to Highway Robbery Terrible experience. I went in for a battery replacement ($352) and they tried to charge me $600 with no explanation. They told me the loaner car would be 2-3 days, but charged me $45/day for 11 days--almost $450--because of their own delays. So, I ultimately paid $800. To make it worse, they didn't even bring my car to me when it was done, sent me in the wrong direction to find it, and I had to track down someone to walk me over. Absolutely worst service I've received in 30 years of car ownership. They've had my '21 Palisade for 14 weeks sitting with a blown engine at 70K miles - only 2 months after oil change at the dealer in which I complained about a noise that they dismissed - the engine actually seized and caught fire on the hwy. They replaced engine finally this week but called me to pay for gas (apparently it was empty but they have no record of what it was when it came in because it was towed- uhhhh I was driving to work - 20 miles away and the fuel light wasn't on). They need fuel to test drive it - to test new engine and replace the battery because it was completely dead - uhhhhh yeah it sat for 3+ months without being driven/charged. I needed to pay for battery and the told me it was throwing a coil error (engine misfire) and that wasn't covered- after they JUST REPLACED THE ENGINE?!?! They ended up covering it under my extended warranty but it doesn't add up. It all is ridiculous and absurd. This is after NOT ONE returned call asking for a status in all that time. They are on the 3rd or 4th service manger in 6-8 months and the mangers (including the GM) are the worst customer service people I've ever encountered. So rude and condescending. I will never buy or service at Priority again nor will I buy a Hyundai ever again . Such a nightmare. These people do not care. I have a ticket in with Hyundai corp that's escalated- maybe it'll get somewhere. So disappointing. OH! I brought my 2013 Hyundai Accent to Priority Hyundai for a few basic services: * Replace the driver's sun visor * Diagnose an A/C issue (not blowing cold) * Replace window switches for two malfunctioning windows * Perform a state inspection Instead, I was presented with a $5,300+ service estimate -- more than the car is worth. The quote included numerous services I did not request, such as a coolant flush, transmission flush, fuel induction cleaning, brake flush, alignment, campaign bulletin add-ons, and more. To give one specific example: I was quoted over $1,100 to replace all window switches, even though I only needed two replaced. With a professional background in electronics troubleshooting, I can confidently say that price was unjustifiable. I paid their $400 diagnostic fee, but declined the rest of the work and had the necessary repairs performed elsewhere at a far more reasonable cost. I've documented the full estimate and reported this experience to Hyundai Corporate, the Virginia DMV Dealer Board, and the Better Business Bureau. I believe this was an aggressive attempt to upsell unnecessary work and take advantage of a customer. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing any repairs here. read more

I spent over three hours trying to get in touch with someone to check on the status of my car--left multiple messages and never received a call back. I had an appointment scheduled the day prior at 11:30 AM for a simple oil change and state inspection, but by the next day near closing time, I still hadn't heard anything. We made an appointment along time ago, so we could assure that the car would be taken care of. All we needed was a state inspection and an oil change. We rearranged our schedules me coming from Norfolk, my daughter from Suffolk to make sure we had the car there on time. We checked in and sat there inside the garage for about 10 to 15 minutes waiting for someone to come and check us in finally had to go in and say is anybody gonna check us in. Then when we were coming all the way from Norfolk Suffolk again to pick up the car we were told it wasn't done so we have to leave it until the next day. This is not the first time this has happened. their service. Dept could take lessons from Subaru, and other dealerships who have excellent service. In addition, they close at 5:30 giving you no time to get there from work pitiful. read more

The engine in my vehicle seized and left me stranded, details later in this post. I had the vehicle towed to Priority Hyundai in Chesapeake, I already had an appointment for the knocking noise it was making but since the vehicle seized and left me stranded on the interstate I needed to have it towed to the dealership sooner. I called to notifiy them of this. It was delivered to them by the tow company. I don't know how they had it registered in their system but although it was under my name they could not find it every time I called unless they looked it up by my phone number. Mind you, I called numerous times to get an update but NO ONE ever came to the phone or returned voicemail messages. I left several messages, for Preston (who was assigned as my Service Advisor) and Amanda (the Service Manager) but I NEVER received a return phone call. I finally had to go to the dealership to let them know that I was having the vehicle towed to another dealership since they had such poor communication and never even took the vehicle in to be inspected. Hyundai put a particular engine in the Santa Fe Sport (maybe more models too), that loses power and seizes up causing the vehicle to just stop. This happened to me and left me stranded on the interstate. It's a good thing I was able to get to safety, the vehicle stopped accelerating and just shut off, ON THE INTERSTATE! When I asked my regular mechanic about it he told me about the issue with the engines and that he had the same thing happen to him because he owned a Hyundsi like mine and told me about a "modified (or extended) warranty" that Hyundai implemented for this specific issue. His was covered, Hyundai replaced.the engine in his under this warranty. Fast forward I had my vehicle towed to a dealership to have it checked for this issue. The first dealership (Priority Hyundai) that I had it towed to was horrible, provided no communication, did not return phone calls and they did not even know that they had my vehicle on their lot. I rarely post reviews, sadly only when I have absolutely horrendous experiences with a company/vendor. However, this I feel has gotten to the point where it can't go unnoticed. I purchased two vehicles from Priority in 2017 and 2019. The service on both vehicles was absolutely fantastic until COVID hit in 2020. Since then, getting appointments and working with the service department has been terrible. Most recently (Dec. 6), I took one of my car's in for service (oil change). After taking getting the vehicle back (later the same day), I noticed my oil light comes on, only when sitting idle. I called to ask them about it, left a message as I was instructed to do and no returned call. I figured it wasn't a large issue because it didn't stay on and the oil level is ok. After the holidays, I then called to schedule an appointment for my other car and re-engage about the oil light. The service advisor was busy, so I was told to leave a message, which I did. I didn't receive a call back, so I called back the next afternoon. I explained the non-returned calls and was insistent to speak with someone. The person then gave me two "direct" numbers to service managers, as well as leaving a message on that particular call. I left messages on each of the service managers numbers that same day and no returned call. I called one additional time and was told they be happy to escalate it to the manager of the service department. Once again, no returned call and that was nearly two weeks ago. I finally called Checkered Flag Hyundai and was able to not only speak with a service manager, but also made an appointment, went to the appointment, and still no call back from Priority Hyundai (after leaving a total of six messages). I would not recommend Priority Hyundai's service department if you have questions or issues with your car. You can never speak directly to your service advisor. Their "free inspection/oil change" isn't all it's geared up to be. read more

DO NOT USE THE SERVICE CENTER! We purchased our car only 1 year ago, and in the 4 visits we have made to the service center we have had issues 3 of 4 times. They first dented our car before we ever were able to take it home. After, they had me come back because they couldn't complete a recall repair correctly. At our most recent visit, for our "free" oil change, I declined a cabin air filter replacement, as it is a simple change and not worth over $100 for 5 minutes of labor. Only to pickup my car and have the loudest humming sound the moment my a/c turns on. After almost 3 weeks they finally got an appointment to look at why I had a new issue after their "service" just to tell me they got leaves in the blower of my a/c and want $200 to fix it (which the manager wanted to highlight would have been a free service had I used them to replace the cabin air filter). Absolutely insane that you can create an issue and return someone's car back with more issues than it arrived, and then have the nerve to demand hundred of dollars to fix the issue they caused. Take my advice- no "free" oil changes for life are worth doing any business with this dealership- go ANYWHERE else. read more

I'm 69 years old and have dealt with many dealerships over the span of my life. I can say with absolute certainty that Priority Hyundai has the worse Service Department that I have ever had the unpleasant experience of having to deal with. I found that the two Service Advisers that I dealt with were untrustworthy (to put it nicely), disinterested, and poor ineffective communicators. Had My 2021 Tucson towed to their Service department on a Tuesday evening with their scheduler giving me a 9:15am appointment for Wednesday morning. Did not hear a word from Priority Hyundai until I called near the end of the business day only to find out that they hadn't looked at my vehicle. Never received an update from them unless I called and left a message for them to call me back with an update on my car. I was out of state visiting, which I made them aware of, so I needed an idea of when my car might be ready so that I could plan my departure. I dropped my car off to Priority Hyundai on a Tuesday night, I did not receive my vehicle from them until the following week Monday, after being told they would try to have it ready for me on Friday, then on Saturday (if the mechanic who was assigned to work on it came to work on Saturday). After my experience with Priority Hyundai I wouldn't allow them work on my lawnmower. Readers, I suggest that you go anywhere but Priority Hyundai for service for your vehicle. read more

Didn't put back the wipers the car had on it for the price. Lied about rotating my tires after I specified to have them rotated. I bought my 2024 Hyundai Tucson from Priority and expected to have good service. I am on time for regular maintenance and schedule the appointments with no problems. However, both times, my car has been in the shop all day with no calls with information. I called and was told to call the tech who assisted me in the morning; she did not answer her phone or have voicemail which I was told she did. No calls at all until 5:10 p.m. when a desk person called to tell me it was ready; the shop closes at 5:30! Also, I was told I need 3 additional services and approved a certain amount which was higher when called. The desk person could not pull up my paperwork to even see what I approved! Front desk person talked to me like an idiot when I referenced a new car needing an earlier oil change after engine break in by saying "I've never heard of that" with an annoyed tone. I took my car in for a Diagnostic Test at Priority Hyundai because they had the earliest availability and I needed my car to be looked at ASAP. When I scheduled my appointment, I made sure to tell the associate ALL of the problems I had been experiencing to ensure the technician knew what to look for. My appointment was on a Friday morning at 8:40am so I dropped my car off that Thursday evening to ensure they had it for the next morning. On that Friday morning, I received a text at 8:30am from a Hyundai Service Associate confirming the cost of the Diagnostic Test among other things, in which I confirmed. I hadn't heard back from Hyundai for most of the day so I called around 3:30pm and an Associate told me that someone would call me right back. Well I didn't receive a phone call back but I did receive a text from the Service Associate telling me that she was awaiting a response from the Technician. I never received a response so I texted back at 5:30pm asking for updates. I finally received a call at 6pm that evening with results from the Diagnostic Test. They couldn't give me the full cost of the repair because they didn't have the cost of the parts and the Parts Department had left for the day. SMH! She stated that she'll call me in the morning with the full cost and we'll go from there. I get a phone call at around 9am on Saturday with the cost of the repair (labor and parts) and even though I thought it was pretty inexpensive for what the issue was, I scheduled an appointment with her to get the issue fixed. I get a call back 5 mins later with the same Associate telling me of a bigger issue that the Technician just discovered that day (Saturday) and that cost would be almost triple the amount of the previous cost. I was shocked because I was being quoted two different costs and the second cost was actually what I thought the Technician was searching for when he did the Diagnostic Test. What we discovered was the person that I spoke to originally, who scheduled my appointment, did not relay the whole message to the Service Associate so the Technician actually did the Diagnostic Test for another area of my car and just so happened to stumble on the other issue (which was the main issue I called for) while finishing up the job. Overall, I'm disappointed in the service of this dealership because I experienced little to no communication when my car was being serviced and I also experienced miscommunication as well. I hope to have a better experience the next time I visit. read more

Back to update again. It's been another couple weeks. I spoke to someone in finance regarding my situation, since it's been over a month and a half now. They said they were going to call corporate since my deal isn't done and it was started back in May, and then call me back with an update. Never called me back, hasn't responded to my emails. It's insane to me how this process has gone. I came to this dealership knowing what I wanted, with pre approved financing in hand, and a quality trade in. All they needed to do is close the deal, and almost Two months later now they still haven't. Basically, I have 180 changed my mind since my first review. Extremely disappointed with my experience with the service center. I originally came here for an engine replacement over a month ago which was a long process with bare minimum communication. Shortly after my recall engine replacement, my car wouldn't start. I got it towed back there to see if it was something that wasn't connected correctly when the engine was installed. Two weeks later I hadn't received any updates about just a diagnosis. Ive now tried for 3 days in a row and counting to get a hold of someone, anyone, service advisor/manager. The woman who did answer the phone said she didn't have access to my account. And that the manager must not have been at his desk. And that my service advisor was off. The whole process has been beyond exhausting. My car has now been towed to another local business whose communication has been fantastic. There were times when my service advisor Hailey was even rude, seems like many people have problems with her customer service. Something to look into. read more

They had my car for a warranty covered engine replacement for 8 weeks, and they only gave me a loaner car for one of those weeks. On June 9, 2025, I took my 2020 Tuscan ( that I purchased from Priority) in for its maintenance after scheduling an appointment weeks prior. After dropping my vehicle off, I received a call the next morning from a lady ( don't remember her name) telling me she didn't know why my vehicle was there and I informed her that I had an appointment and received text messages from the dealer. She apologized for the tone she took with me. On July 9, my vehicle was making a clicking sound, so I decided to check my oil, and my oil stick was dry as a bone, and there was no oil...... I had to purchase oil because I was not able to get to the dealer. I called to inform someone about my issue, and the lady asked me if I wanted to make an appointment. Really!!! I take responsibility for this because this is the second time I paid for an oil change, only to realize later that I had no oil in my vehicle. I should have taken a video, but I did not. I have been a priority customer for 20 years, and this is my 3rd vehicle. The service has declined immensely, and I hope someone takes the time to get this together. All businesses are shorthanded, but we can all make sure we take our time to ensure what customers pay for is completed. read more

This might be one of the reasons they take so long and charge you so much on the bill. If I had to describe their sales team in one word - pushy. I don't like pushy. I came in around 1:30p on Black Friday because I wanted to check out the Kona in person. Nice ride, but I discovered sub-compact SUVs are smaller than I'd like (a big reason why I want to come in for a looksee). Still, though, I like the Kona and would seriously consider it, but... Andrea showed me the Kona, but we got sidetracked when I asked if they offer ANY cars in stick. Oddly enough, they have a 2018 Elantra on site, so I went ahead and gave it a look. Upon glancing at it, I didn't like it, plus the mileage was at 30K - too high for my liking. We went back inside and took a look at the 2021 Elantra, which was more impressive than the 2018. The wild part is during my visit, I was briefly handed over to a Sales Manager, Melissa, who really leaned in with the 2018 Elantra. I guess my inquiry into available manuals stuck out, because later she stopped me on my way out to "follow up" about that 2018 Elantra. I told her I wasn't interested, even though I already told Andrea the same thing, but I got that feeling they wanted to dump the ride on me. I mean, c'mon, man, I know I asked about manual but that doesn't mean I'm gonna automatically buy a car because it's stick. Gtfoh. Just to clarify, Andrea wasn't pushy, but she felt kinda new - she had some sort of questionnaire that she used to ask some standard questions regarding what I'm looking for in a car. Andrea's newness is likely why Melissa stepped in. Anyways, the point I'm making is I don't ever want to feel pressured to buy. Even if I exclaim, "I want to buy a car right now!" I don't respond well to pressure for a retail purchase. I honestly wasn't there to buy on the spot - I'm not that impulsive, so pumping the brakes, even just a little, would've been great. I bought my car there 6 years ago and overall, its been a positive experience. Definitely not perfect, though. Purchasing the car went smoothly. The one minor negative during purchasing was the salesman fibbed a little about features, but that is to be expected from car salesmen - and techinically allowed in the sales contract. It wasnt a big deal, as I knew the facts beforehand. Ultimately, the vast majority of the time was - and still is - with service. The free oil changes and state inspections are great. They used to have shuttle service, but that stopped with COVID and they never started it back up. That is the biggest disappointment. Unless you want to wait there for hours or if you cant get a free ride, you have to call Lyft/Uber/taxi and then any money you were saving is gone. Again, the service department has been most great. There have been minor annoyances with the service throughout the years, again nothing that would make me stop going there, like trying to sell me unnecessary repairs. But here is the most recent negative example: I just brought my car in for the state inspection a few days ago. It failed for the wiper blades - and I agree they should be replaced. They said they would replace them for $65. If you dont know cars, you wouldnt know this is an absolutely absurd price. You can get 5-star rated wipers from Amazon for a little over $10 and even if you have never replaced wipers blades before, it requires no tools and the entire process should take less than 5 minutes to from star to finish. They are just trying to take advantage of captive and possibly ignorant customers. Again, this shouldnt surprise anyone, they are trying to make money I said no, ordered new blades and put them on. Then I had to go back for the re-inspection. However, if they had said its just wipers, we will replace them for free, that would cost them next to nothing and inspire so much goodwill... my 2 cents. read more

This dealership is TRASH! This place is SO disorganized when you walk in. No one to help or give directions. They are going through renovations so i understand it being a bit chaotic but that's not the issue. Went to drop my car off at 2pm for an oil change and was told it wouldn't be ready until 5:30PM. Okay??? Never got the call that it was ready. Ended up having to pick it up the next day. Got a call at 8:30AM the next day about a nail in my tire. Ok no one mentioned that to me until the next day. Then was told it would be another 3 1/2 hrs for them to do that. Wtf???? THEN get to my car to have my seat soaked like they left my windows down in the pouring rain.. water all in my car. Not to mention, i had to walk all around the lot to find my vehicle because there was no direction as to where my vehicle was. Man y'all do not go here. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a Hyundai dealership. read more
