    Scotch egg
    Dayna M.

I came here with my parents to take a load off while walking around all day. Very cute little spot. The bartenders just kind of stared at us when we walked in, and not really in a friendly way. I cracked a few little jokes while I was ordering just to see if the server was actually capable of smiling (I made him laugh, so there's that). Not everything on the menu was available, which was kind of annoying. The menu was vast, so picking what I wanted once was hard enough. The drink list was great! We all got this Berries and Cherries cider that was SO good! It tasted like lightly carbonated soda. Our food came out fast, and was pretty tasty. My scotch egg was cooked perfectly, and was SO good. My step-dad got chips that came with this mustardy dipping sauce, that should be bottled and sold (if it isn't already) delicious. The women's toilet was gross. One of the stalls had a mask halfway flushed down the commode. The other stall had one roll of toilet paper, and it was laying on top of the commode, and the paper was NOT clean. I barely wanted to touch it, let alone USE it. The hand dryer also did not work and there were no paper towels. This place has great potential, but the staff obviously does NOT care.

Prince Edward Pub in Bayswater, London. Dec.2022.

This a nice pub in the Bayswater area of London north of Hyde Park. It belongs to the Hall & Woodhouse, also known as Badger, brewing company so it has their excellent cask ales likeTanglefoot and Fursty Ferret. I also find that they maintain nice pubs with preserved decor and they have typically excellent food. This was true here. We had excellent fish and chips and mushy peas, plus their outstanding cauliflower wings with Sriracha mayo, washed down with some pints of cask Tanglefoot and their seasonal Red Roaster. Service was good and friendly.

The best part of our experience here was the view. We sat outside on the curb and enjoyed looking at all the cute homes and the folks passing by. Overall the staff were nice but there seemed to be some confusion with the menu and what was available at that time of the day. Food was fine, not our favorite meal in London, but it was nice to just sit down and relax for a while. My favorite part was sitting under the beautiful flowers hanging over us as we sat outside.

aside from fish and chips, gotta try bangers and mash when you're in UK. We found this cute little pub and it was just around the corner of our hotel. A very nice quick walk. Ordered the Baked camembert and bangers & mash. the Bangers & Mash was just ok. It wasn't bad nor it wasn't great - it was just literally A-OK. However the Baked Camembert was really good. The melted gooey cheese and the little side dish of diced cinnamon apples was so delicious. Ordered some wines and beers - it just well with the baked camembert. this pub is very quiet and the staffs were friendly.

I rent a flat across the street in Nottinghill and it's new for me so I came in here yesterday for a little lunch and the service was great very quiet even in the evenings But they had a lot of nice things to offer on the menu and on Sunday they offer a special roast The mashed potatoes needed a little bit more salt and butter but the scotch egg was nicely done

So I was looking for a nice place to eat while I was in London on Business. I went for a long walk, investigating places as I walked by. After several miles, and nearly at the end of my rope, I stumbled upon a nice looking pub called the Prince Edward. The inside was clean and very English without being a museum. There were enough people there for you to know it wasn't horrid, yet not overcrowded to where you couldn't find a seat. Me? I took a seat at the bar and quickly became friends with the manager (see picture - clearly a man of questionable morals...). After a few pints, I ordered, using the manager's recommendation, which was the steak & ale pie. The food was absolutely lovely, well-prepared, and the portions were not overly huge (which is great! Being a Yank, I appreciate reasonable food portions!). Nice time, Good beer and good food menu, lovely pub, funny and cheeky manager who knows what he's doing. Apparently Sunday's are spectacular here. Prince Edward Pub: You are brilliant! Right! now to translate into the local dialect so as to be understood: "So I were 'ave a lookin' for a nice place ter eat wile I were in London on Bizness. Having a laugh. thanks!) *2015 update - went back this past April whilst in town. Still brilliant, still lovely, and still free wi-fi. And I've added a picture of their lovely Sunday Roast (try not to drool, mate...)

On our last night in London I had dinner here with my wife and daughter (11). It was Saturday and it was busy with many locals. We were staying in Queensway so it was a short walk. At first the female bartender kinda shooed us when we asked about a table for dinner but then an other young women came along and got us seated. Pubs don't have hostesses so you're kinda on your own. We had a nice table in the main room with a view of the bar and telly where everybody was watching the Euro 16 soccer match. My wife and i started with a Hendrick's gin and tonic. They charge you separately for the gin (10.65 pounds) and the mixer (3.50 pounds). That was for both. My daughter had yet another late of fish and chips (12.95 pounds), probably her 6th of our trip, my wife had the steak and ale pie (12.95) and I had the beef burger with bacon (11.95). The burger was very good just not juicy the way American corn fed beef is. My wife's steak and ale pie was exceptional. We also had a couple of glasses of wine. A delicious meal and a great way to end our trip as we strolled home one last time.

Chicken liver spread on toast with apple chutney...tasty with peppery notes...

Not really that friendly service. What should I expect for a Sunday night in London. For my starter I had the chicken liver spread with apple chutney. Not bad. For my main I had the steak and ale pie. Not bad. Kind of a small portion. I will not be back.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

I was a fish person, and I am SO HAPPY I did! The fish at this restuarant will live in my head forever. Im not joking. I live in the US and I almost want to fly back to London just to have it again. The roast looked great too, many of my friends saying the meat was great and the gravy was flavorful. The staff were ALL so friendly, even offering the charge a phone that was dying! The place itself feels like it's straight out of a movie, a true london pub. I cannot stop thinking about this fish. Mall Tavern, if youre ever in Minnesota, please send me the recipe.

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.

Yes, there are many pubs in London, everyone has their favorite, everyone has their local, and my "local" depends on where I am staying. In any case, several of us met here. The place was definitely hopping but one of our group arrived early and grabbed a table. We all ordered drinks, I had beer which was delicious. After perusing the menu, I ordered the standard- Fish & Chips, with Mushy Peas. It came out quickly and was fried to perfection. Everybody else who ordered food seemed happy with their choices. It was a great setting to meet up with friends, and I will happily come back here when in the area. A solid pub in a city of many pubs!
