Since our trip was not a planning out excursion, we sometimes found it difficult to make any reservation because places were booked. Unless you wanted to eat at 9PM. We walked about town and came upon Prince Edward and went on line to make a reservation and got one. Just an ordinary place on an ordinary street, but honestly, the best meal we both had hands down all trip. Staff was not the most personable and it took a while to get their attention, but overall the experience was very positive. The game was on, so I was happy to have a pint while watching football. I reserved for Sunday at 7:30pm hoping to have Sunday roast, but they were sold out. Apparently it's often sold out by 5 pm or so. But I had a great meat pie instead. The staff were super helpful and accommodating. Nice chill vibe. read more

I came here with my parents to take a load off while walking around all day. Very cute little spot. The bartenders just kind of stared at us when we walked in, and not really in a friendly way. I cracked a few little jokes while I was ordering just to see if the server was actually capable of smiling (I made him laugh, so there's that). Not everything on the menu was available, which was kind of annoying. The menu was vast, so picking what I wanted once was hard enough. The drink list was great! We all got this Berries and Cherries cider that was SO good! It tasted like lightly carbonated soda. Our food came out fast, and was pretty tasty. My scotch egg was cooked perfectly, and was SO good. My step-dad got chips that came with this mustardy dipping sauce, that should be bottled and sold (if it isn't already) delicious. The women's toilet was gross. One of the stalls had a mask halfway flushed down the commode. The other stall had one roll of toilet paper, and it was laying on top of the commode, and the paper was NOT clean. I barely wanted to touch it, let alone USE it. The hand dryer also did not work and there were no paper towels. This place has great potential, but the staff obviously does NOT care. read more

This a nice pub in the Bayswater area of London north of Hyde Park. It belongs to the Hall & Woodhouse, also known as Badger, brewing company so it has their excellent cask ales likeTanglefoot and Fursty Ferret. I also find that they maintain nice pubs with preserved decor and they have typically excellent food. This was true here. We had excellent fish and chips and mushy peas, plus their outstanding cauliflower wings with Sriracha mayo, washed down with some pints of cask Tanglefoot and their seasonal Red Roaster. The best part of our experience here was the view. We sat outside on the curb and enjoyed looking at all the cute homes and the folks passing by. Overall the staff were nice but there seemed to be some confusion with the menu and what was available at that time of the day. Food was fine, not our favorite meal in London, but it was nice to just sit down and relax for a while. Ordered the Baked camembert and bangers & mash. the Bangers & Mash was just ok. It wasn't bad nor it wasn't great - it was just literally A-OK. However the Baked Camembert was really good. The melted gooey cheese and the little side dish of diced cinnamon apples was so delicious. So I was looking for a nice place to eat while I was in London on Business. I went for a long walk, investigating places as I walked by. After several miles, and nearly at the end of my rope, I stumbled upon a nice looking pub called the Prince Edward. The inside was clean and very English without being a museum. There were enough people there for you to know it wasn't horrid, yet not overcrowded to where you couldn't find a seat. Me? I took a seat at the bar and quickly became friends with the manager (see picture - clearly a man of questionable morals...). After a few pints, I ordered, using the manager's recommendation, which was the steak & ale pie. The food was absolutely lovely, well-prepared, and the portions were not overly huge (which is great! Being a Yank, I appreciate reasonable food portions!). Nice time, Good beer and good food menu, lovely pub, funny and cheeky manager who knows what he's doing. After a long flight, we were tired and hungry and settled on this pub because it is right next to our new flat. My expectations were low but our meal was actually really good!! My husband and I sat outside and split a board that came with chips, ribs, chicken skewers, and lamb skewers with a variety of dipping sauces. Great value for the amount of food we got! Since that meal I've noticed that it always has a fair amount of people at it - morning, noon, and night. I will go back to try it again! read more

Can't rate the food just the lack of service. In town for work for the US and staying nearby, I went in solo. They were a little busy and I didn't want to take a larger table so I asked the guy behind the bar where I could sit. He shook his head and mumbled " I don't know" and walked away. Not a great start. The woman behind the bar came over and I said I was by myself and could sit anywhere for dinner. She said hold on, walked away and took a phone call. She finally came and said "We're busy, come back in five minutes." I walked around the neighborhood for about ten minutes and went back. Upon returning, I was completely ignored. So, no fish and chips, no nothing. I suppose they didn't want my business. There was plenty of room at the bar or outside. But I wound up going elsewhere. read more

New visit, same standard... It's our pub (Pabino!) in London, and we definitely go back there, again and again. Friendly, relaxing atmosphere, no noise, not footballed as the most of the other pubs in this World Cup's eve. I believe there must have been some sort of light refurbishment. Hall & Woodhouse beers are very good, Badger First Gold Ale is best in class. Drink real ales, not that flavourless lagers! read more

On our last night in London I had dinner here with my wife and daughter (11). It was Saturday and it was busy with many locals. We were staying in Queensway so it was a short walk. At first the female bartender kinda shooed us when we asked about a table for dinner but then an other young women came along and got us seated. Pubs don't have hostesses so you're kinda on your own. We had a nice table in the main room with a view of the bar and telly where everybody was watching the Euro 16 soccer match. My wife and i started with a Hendrick's gin and tonic. They charge you separately for the gin (10.65 pounds) and the mixer (3.50 pounds). That was for both. My daughter had yet another late of fish and chips (12.95 pounds), probably her 6th of our trip, my wife had the steak and ale pie (12.95) and I had the beef burger with bacon (11.95). The burger was very good just not juicy the way American corn fed beef is. My wife's steak and ale pie was exceptional. We also had a couple of glasses of wine. A delicious meal and a great way to end our trip as we strolled home one last time. read more

I've been there several times now in the evening. Each time the food and drink are great. The staff is very friendly. If you sit at the bar, you are much more likely to enjoy yourself striking up conversations with locals and other visitors. This was just what I was looking for as a place to wind down after tramping about the city and returning from day trips around London. read more

Spent a week about a block away in the Bayswater Inn. We were looking for something close and fairly inexpensive. Had 2 small kids and 1 vegetarian teen with us. Food was really good and it was a quiet neighborhood pub. Food Specials and their vegetarian menu changed daily. My son was happy. Had a satisfying and peaceful meal here. It was conveniently located beside the apartment I am staying at. I had tried to eat here before, but all the tables were full during dinner/ late night. This time I went for afternoon - late lunch and here were many tables available. I ordered the baked camberent (£10.95), a Caesar salad with chicken (£6.50) and a tomato juice. VAT (tax and tip) is automatically applied to order. Ordered and paid at the bar and advised I would sit outside. I got my drink right away and the rest of my meal came in around 20 minutes, the baked cheese takes a while usually. The camberent came with 6-7 baked rolls. This was very very good, cheese was melted and perfect for dipping. This is actually a plate that people would usually share, I couldn't finish it myself and was able to take the rest back home. The Caesar salad with chicken was average, so was the tomato juice. Will definitely come back again! read more

There are so many pubs around here but we came here based on yelp reviews. Fast and friendly service given by the waiter as soon as we stepped inside. Got seated quickly and had our orders taken without too much fuss. We had the yelp reviewers recommended baked Brie , onion tart and steak pie. The Brie was outstanding because the chutney and warm bread go so well with the melting cheese. So simple yet so good! Could have it all by myself but it is unkind to not share. We were full after dinner and did not try the desserts on offer but the list looked very appealing. Sticky toffee pudding stood out but alas had to watch my waistline. read more

Disappointing food. Just plain meh... Beautiful environment and friendly staff but when you order something off the menu that's not available, say so before handing me the menu. Then when you have a special on the board and it's not available take it off the board but then don't bring it out anyway after I've now made my 3rd selection. I will say that a dog friendly environment works for me- another patron came inside with 4 dogs and sat at the bar and it was a cool scene. The steak sandwich my husband twice specified to be rare was about as over cooked as you could imagine, and my ham and cheese seemed to be missing both key ingredients. Just overpriced crusty bread. This is my kind of pub. Local, cozy, friendly staff. It's a real food pub with real pub food. It's not one of kitschy fusion pubs with thin crust pizzas or Thai/French menus. It's a down to earth pub menu that includes steaks, roasts, meat pies, fish and chips, burgers, and bangers/mash. It's unpretentious real pub food and I thought it was fantastic. They also have these huge sharing platters which include fried seafood, bbq, or other bar food favorites! Good stuff! And a decent selection of beers on tap! Call it heaven! read more

We had dinner here on our first night in London. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The menu is changed daily with various specials. Very simple. Very English. We had Bangers and mash and a chicken stirfry dinner which were both excellent. The beer was out of this world. A local ale named Prickly Partridge. That being said though, it does have a neighborhood feel that some of the places on Bayswater Road lack. A couple of streets back from busy Queensway and Bayswater Road the Prince Edward is a nice relaxing pub with lots of cosy tables, some outside too; good for watching the world go by on a warm evening, a well stocked bar and the food is OK too. When I am staying in nearby Vancouver Studios I usually visit this place and it hits the spot. Prices are reasonable for London in my opinion. read more

We stayed at a hotel around the corner during our London vacation, and we found ourselves at Prince Edward every single night. The perfect place to unwind after a busy day. My husband and I have eaten here twice, with mixed results. The first time we came was on a Friday evening with some friends. The food was fine (he had fish and chips and I had the vegetable frittata). The waitress didn't spend a lot of time with us, but she was very busy. She was friendly, though. The cheesy American pop music (Britney Spears) was a little off-putting, but easy enough to ignore during conversation. The second time we visited was on a Wednesday, around 11:00am. The restaurant was pretty empty, except for the 2 guys seated at the bar. We sat down and waited for service, but none came. My husband asked the woman at the bar, and she said to sit down at a table. Well...we waited and waited and waited, but no one showed up. The only people being served were the ones at the bar. A couple of guys showed up and sat there, and were immediately greeted. We ended up leaving and finding another pub close by, that was tons better (check out my other reviews for details). If we lived in London, we would most likely never return to Prince Edward. read more

In a city full of great pubs this is 1 to avoid. Visited this evening and ordered 2 pints, 1 peroni and 1 pale ale after having tasting a shot glass amount, which tasted alright. However being an experienced barman once seeing the pint of Ale I knew it was flat, 1st taste confirming it. Unfortunately when I expressed the opinion that the pint was not right, the manager contested my opinion and refused to change it. We swiftly left leaving the 2 full.pints. So with many great pubs in the locality, we would advise not visiting this 1 as unfortunately the customer is never right.. luckily for us 5 mins down the road we were able to get drinks and service to the standard we would expect. read more

Became our local in during our short stay in the area. The real ale and wine were great and there was a good choice. The general feel of the place was friendly in part due the friendly nature of the staff themselves, and also the quirky vintage/modern decor. We loved the book wallpaper and chandelier. As a finally vote of confidence re the food, the Yorkshire puddings and the Sunday lunch even impressed a Yorkshire man. read more
