He checked the car, smiled, and said everything was fine. I even asked to confirm, and he said yes. Then the next day, I see a $60 charge on my credit card. I called and spoke with Laura, who was rude and not helpful at all. On top of that, the car itself wasn't in great shape. scratches, dings, and not very clean. I've had better experiences with Budget/Avis, but I'll definitely be using a different location next time. This whole situation felt pretty shady. Not the friendliest staff either.

Additionally, the vehicle had a distinct odor of cigarette smoke, and the "change oil" indicator was illuminated. On Saturday, February 28, 2026, I returned to the branch to address these issues with the branch manager. The manager informed me of a lack of available vehicles and suggested a smaller alternative. Given that I had rented a full-size vehicle for a planned family trip, I explained my need for a larger vehicle. Despite the circumstances, I had no option but to accept the offered vehicle. While driving on the freeway, the dashboard lights, radio, and all interior illumination unexpectedly ceased to function.

I waited about 30 minutes just to even be acknowledged, while a full office of customers stood around getting more and more frustrated. At one point there were around 8 people waiting, and instead of managing the counter or helping clear the line, the manager, Quantrell, was outside lazily and slowly washing cars while the office backed up. It was unbelievable to watch. When I finally got helped, I was told there were no rentals available unless I wanted to pay a lot extra for an slightly upgraded vehicle. My other option was to be put on a waiting list as "number 4" and wait by the phone. Seriously. So instead of honoring reservations or offering real solutions, this place seemed more focused on pushing customers into paying more even after we all had to wait long. The customer service only got worse from there. One employee the older lady with the dyed red hair was rude, combative, and completely unpleasant to deal with. Quaytrell was no better. He was misleading, unhelpful, and clearly not capable of managing the location. He even told me other rental companies would probably be out of cars too, which turned out to be a complete LIE!!! I went online and saw mid way had great reviews and was the closest to me as I was in a time crunch since they were closing early this day. They closed at 1pm, I raced to get an uber to get there (unfortunate for me I had the slowest driver there was ). I arrived a few minutes after 1pm. They were closed, gates were shut as I was standing there in the rain waiving my arms at the door. Yun (one of their amazing employees) saw me from the road. Did a quick U-turn and let me in. Seriously, they did not have to do this! Embarrassingly I was that annoying person that got there after close. I accepted my fate when I saw their gated were closed and I missed my chance. Upon arrival, the office was closed, and neither Expedia nor Thrifty offered us any help. We missed Thanksgiving with our family, and it was Thrifty's fault (according to Expedia) for allowing a booking with a closed agency. See the Expedia response below. We spent our Thanksgiving taking Lyfts to Glendale and returning home with our food. Neither Expedia nor Thrifty will reimburse our Lyft fees. Never using either company again.
