Primrose cottage was the perfect spot for us to tie the knot! Lily, Allison and Inese made sure every detail was exactly how we wanted it and helped to make sure the day ran smoothly for both the bride and groom. You don't just get a stunning venue, but a great wedding team/director, design team, and delicious caterer taking so much other vendor vetting off your plate. Lily made sure to answer all our questions and helped us feel special throughout the planning. Our guests raved about the venue and we couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I attended a wedding at Primrose Cottage and thought it couldn't have been a more appropriate venue. The cottage is located in downtown Roswell. It was built in 1839 by Roswell King, the city's founder, and is the city's oldest home. Primrose Cottage is a traditional Southern Antebellum home. The house is ornate and elegant. Each room is beautifully decorated. I enjoyed exploring the various levels and rooms inside the house. It's pretty much a historic estate. There are small placards throughout the house that describe the history behind each room. The cottage is three stories. Outside, there is a charming courtyard and garden. The wedding ceremony and reception took place inside, on the bottom level. While the setting is cozy and intimate, there was still enough space to hold hundreds of guests. At the wedding I attended, there were two bars and hors d'oeuvre (bread, vegetables, cheeses) stations. The dinner itself was buffet-style and consisted of rolls, pasta, meats (ham, turkey, chicken), Greek salad, and potatoes. The dessert tower was nicely presented and contained all sorts of delicious bites like chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate mini-cups filled with peanut butter. Overall, the quality of the food was very good. Parking is free and easy. There are a couple lots on Mimosa Blvd. you can park in. One of these lots is located directly across from the cottage. You can also parallel park in any unmarked spot on Mimosa.

My husband and I just got married at Primrose on 01/06/2018 and it was amazing. The people are wonderful and so helpful. They made the wedding planning process so easy for me. They answered all of my questions quickly and worked with me to get exactly what I pictured. Donna, Jessica and Courtney took excellent care of us. And the food! We are still getting compliments on the food. Everything went so well and I highly recommend Primrose Cottage.

My husband and I got married here September 6 2008. Primrose Cottage is a lovely little property, but wasn't our first choice in wedding venues. However, we were a little late in the game when it came to setting a date and finding a venue, and Primrose was the only place available for our date... Turned out to be a great stroke of luck! Catering, flowers, etc is all 'in-house', and they give you a day-of coordinator to help out the day of your rehearsal, and wedding day. Everyone is extremely helpful and eager to please throughout the whole process. I know a lot of brides don't want to deal with in-house anything with a venue, but with Primrose it really was wonderful, they truly lived up to all the other reviews I had read online. The food was *fantastic*, our flowers were more beautiful then I expected, and the coordinator was spot-on! Everything was carried on without a hitch, or if there were any, I certainly didn't hear about it! Have you been to a wedding(s), and the bride and groom looked harried and starved, because they can't seem to find a moment to eat? A great 'feature' they do, is while planning out the timing for your wedding and reception, they will set aside 10 or 15 minutes just for you and your partner to be whisked away to the upstairs bridal suite, where plates of food and drinks will be waiting for you. This was *such* a great thing to do, and we really appreciated it. **Edited to add** One thing I forgot to mention- when we left, they gave us a really lovely gift basket, and included some take-out boxes filled with food from our buffet. This was really awesome and very much appreciated when we arrived at our hotel afterwards, hungry but too worn out to consider going out or ordering food. I am extremely happy with everything Primrose provided us with. We are very laid back people and didn't care so much about whether our linens matched our invitations or any of that sort of stuff. Going in to decide on decor and flowers, we didn't really have a clue, just some vague, general ideas, but with their help managed to create a gorgeous atmosphere and flower arrangements. Just keep in mind that if you want that fairytale-magazine wedding here, your bank account, credit card, or wealthy benefactors should be prepared to take quite a hit. However they do offer more budget-friendly setups as well! Even if the style of Primrose Cottage isn't quite your cup of tea, the management company (Magical Moments) does have other properties you could look at for hosting your event.

Beautiful table setting in the reception room.

The food was also incredibly good and the bar even took the steps to serve modified Old Fashioneds (no simple syrup). However, their customer service ahead of and at the end of the wedding (and even how they treat their staff) was well below expectations. And as you will see in their response below, they continue to argue with customers (and in this case their guests after the fact). It's quite surprising to see a vendor argue with someone in a public place. A bit about my background, I led a $2B business selling to a major retailer - and in my career, I never argued back with that customer because it seemed dumb to argue with folks keeping us in business. So, the response below (and now in a picture) is shocking to see on a $30k+ per transaction business. It also seems to imply that 'pushy attitude' is written in their contract and they will not flex from what's in the contract. Example, the venue had no booking during the day and so opening early, seemed possible [maybe they bill for 1-2 people to be there from the venue itself?]. Their actions and sometimes lack of - led to a higher than expected stress level for the bride and family. All of these things seem easy to remedy on their part. However, if you decide to get married here - it seems critical to have everything you expect of them spelled out in the contract (down to requiring the demeanor of the management to be polite, consistent, and responsive). As I understand it, many commitments were made by the venue ahead of the big day - only to be told over email at 1 AM, two nights before, were not included. This is after leading up to the event never being able to have a consistent contact person - perhaps, requiring the event sales rep to give their cell # to customers is a good idea? One example, was saying last minute they would not provide vases for the flowers on tables. In a last stitch effort, vases were rented from the florist. Day of, the venue was insistent that those coming to decorate could not be in Ivy Hall any sooner than 4pm for a 6pm start. At the end of the night, the staff quickly broke down the tables and expected those of us packing up the gifts, vases, flowers, signs, etc to be extremely quick. Amidst that chaos, there were candles and plastic domes around them sitting next to other things that were the wedding party's. We started packing the white candles and the manager came over and said "Those aren't yours! And great, you messed them up!" She then proceeded to chastise the bar tender for not paying attention to us stealing things. Why would we want 10-20 used candles? And, my girlfriend overheard them loudly say 'we're trying to get them out of the bridal suite' - when they were packing up the bride's things. As an aside, it takes me back a little to have the management call the bride's family "vendors" in her response (see picture) as we were the ones setting up and taking down decorations. Great venue, good food, bad service. A well spelled out contract defining your (not just theirs as the management states in their comment) expectations is a must-have if you do a wedding or other event at Ivy Hall. You only get one wedding, venues do many of them - might consider elsewhere if you are seeking guidance from the venue's experts throughout this once in a lifetime event for you.

The servers are all fantastic. The small bites and teas were all delicious. We came here for a girlfriend's birthday and had the best time. The person who answered stated they couldn't book the reservation themselves but assured him someone would call back shortly to confirm. Unfortunately, no one ever called back. After that, no one answered the phone for the rest of Tuesday, Wednesday, or most of Thursday. When he finally reached someone right before closing on Thursday, he was told they were completely booked. This experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing due to the lack of communication and follow-up. We understand places get busy, but not returning calls and then suddenly being fully booked after initially confirming availability is poor customer service. Their reservation system also clearly needs improvement. An online reservation model would make much more sense because the current phone-based process is not working effectively. Although I've enjoyed tea here on a couple of different occasions, the experience is not astonishing enough to return after this reservation experience.
