My wedding at Flint Hill had two different stories: The wedding day was fantastic, but the planning was a nightmare. I suspect the positive reviews reflect the former. I will share advice that I wish I had received before making a 50% deposit. My rating is based on the planning. The day of would get 4 stars. - We were glad we had an outside wedding planner to be our ally. If you've never planned an event like this, you might not realize that you can easily be taken advantage of. - They provide a lot of staff on the day of the event, but some of them were people we had never met. We had an eight-minute call with our "Day of Reception Director" the week before the wedding. She is a part-time (weekends) employee who doesn't even have a company email address. - We were dazzled by Melissa's sales pitch. She spent 2 hours with us when we came in for a tour and it was great. We thought she would be a great ally in this process. She was super friendly and helpful through the contract process until we paid 50%. - We needed to read every version of the updated invoice to catch price changes. The price of our dessert was $9 until one day it was $9.50. They charged us $150 for early arrival with a $150 credit to cancel it out. One day that credit had changed from $150 to $2. Laura from the design studio "accidentally" increased the price of some tablecloths by $5 each. - Their contracts sometimes expire after two days, and they said we needed to sign before getting answers to our questions. This happened with 2 contract addendums. We asked questions. Melissa said "Any specific detail changes to this contract will be handled in the extended planning sessions." - They marginalized me while behaving towards my husband. We had a recurrent problem where I would send an email, no response, husband reminds them, and they respond quickly. One time they ignored my email for five days. When he replied to my note, they responded to him within the hour. I don't know if it's because he's a man, he makes more money than I do, or they simply didn't like me. - If we didn't get it in writing, they often denied it. There are numerous topics that I am certain we discussed verbally but unfortunately I didn't have it in writing. With the issue mentioned above, they insisted we never discussed it, and they only agreed to do it because we found written confirmation. - We needed to spend at least $2,000 at their design studio, but we didn't have any trouble exceeding the minimum. We had very minimal design requirements, brought in an outside florist for the bouquets, and our initial quote was over $1,900, not counting the $700 tablecloth rental. - Menu changes come with an upcharge. You only get to put out one salad dressing. If you want your guests to have a choice, there is an $0.50 per person. Mashed potatoes come with no toppings. Want to add something as simple as sour cream or chives? One dollar per person for each topping. - We paid more than 80% of the adult rate for children aged 4-9. Children starting at age 10 are charged full price. The menu says "reduced rate" for children, but the aren't mentioned until much later in the process. They get a 20% discount on the base price for the buffet, but they are full price for drinks, dessert, and add-ons. I don't know if they would also be charged 100% for drink packages with alcohol. - We had to convince them to let us have a menu tasting. They offered us a "tasting box" with six items from another event's menu but only one or two from our menu. None of these options had our main dishes included. They said the point of a tasting box is to understand the quality of the food, not our specific menu. I want to thank Kristin, the CEO, for her help. Two months before our wedding, she allowed us to switch from the Atrium to Flint Hill (for a cost of $3,500) The change in venue couldn't fix corporate policies and staff difficulties though. I can honestly say that planning this wedding was one of the worst experiences of my life. Good luck, future brides and grooms. read more

I'm reviewing FH from the point of view of a wedding guest at my niece's wedding. This beautiful antebellum home makes a fantastic wedding venue. Flawless is how I would describe the event, the venue, the food, the décor, the service, everything was impeccable. The backyard was the site of the nuptials themselves, with neat, white chairs (including labels to indicate whom the seat was reserved for), beautiful lighting, great sound system, unobtrusive photographers/videographers and even a drone to take an overhead group shot after the bride and groom were hitched! After the wedding proper, the staff circulated amazing appetizers (spring rolls in a shot glass with a chili sauce in the bottom), a slider app, and a shrimp appetizer (I can't describe it because I didn't see/try it). The house itself has enough room for 200+ people for a sit down buffet, which this was. The buffet included salad with arugula, feta, walnuts and cranberries; chicken breast with mushroom sauce, beef with horseradish sauce, rolls, and grilled veggies. A coffee bar complete with barista rounded out the main dining area and the bar area offered water and soft drinks. The group enjoyed the festivities (speeches, toasts, etc.) and then went to the furthermost room for the Father/Daughter dance, the first dance of the Bride and Groom and then the dance floor was open for everyone. Rain came shortly after the wedding proper, and the indoor areas that had exposed walls were all set with plastic sheeting. The elated Bride and Groom left the venue beneath a salute of long sparklers as the raindrops fell, ever so lightly. It really was a spectacular event. I highly recommend FL as an (almost) Do-it-All wedding facility. I say "almost" because I believe the videography, photography and minister are provided by the family, perhaps with recommendations by the FL staff. read more

Flint Hill was incredible as a venue. I knew from the moment that I saw it that it would be the place, but I didn't know yet how simple they would make the process. From start to finish the planner and coordinator (Bethany and Jasmin) assigned to help me were phenomenal in answering all of my questions. The day of the wedding, I didn't have to ask for a thing. The tiniest details I would simply be informed of if needed, never bothered. Later I realized I never once even visited the bar, or appetizer room because everything was consistently brought to me! All of the guests complimented us on the venue and said the food was great. I ate a bit but honestly was just busy and can't remember! The old saying its over before you know it is so true! The flowers and decorations I asked for were done perfectly. I never saw them in advance and was thrilled with how they turned out. One of the best parts about the venue is that here in Georgia the weather can change in an instant. It was 70 early in the week and the day of the high dropped to 50 and we had a good chance of rain. The venue was able to give me until when I arrived at the venue just two hours before the ceremony to make the decisions about if I wanted to move forward with inside or outside! I will note, picking a Magic Moments venue is not going to be the cheap option. This is not the way you want to go if you want to pinterest DIY the wedding for savings, but once you start to lose your mind with stress, this will be the venue you'll be grateful you paid for to take care of everything for you! In the end, I thought I would be able to do so much myself, but between the very very few things that the venue doesn't take care of (dealing with getting RSVPs lol!) the stress of trying to DIY anything extra would have been way too much. We got married here in July 2006. They were FABULOUS. And they did it all: flowers, cake, reception, everything except the DJ, minister, and photographer. All we had to do was show up. The staff was familiar with, or knew really well, our DJ and minister. The photographer was just starting out, but he said they were exceptionally easy to deal with, because he had to sign some kind of agreements with the facility. There were absolutely no problems with anything--every step of the way, they were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. It can get expensive (however, I do believe this is the wedding industry's motto), but on your wedding day? All you have to do is remember to breathe...they do the rest. And that's important. Also, we didn't take it, but they give you the option of eating in the bride's room after your ceremony/pictures, while your guests are downstairs enjoying hors d'oeuvers. I wish we'd taken that option, looking back. They have 2 buildings: the house and a more contemporary building that's good for smaller weddings. We had a very small wedding (60 guests) but did it at the house anyway. I'm glad we did--I love our pictures there. Just like Robert M. said: our guests still talk about how this was one of the best weddings they've ever been to. I highly (highly) recommend the chocolate table in lieu of a groom's cake...2nd only to the wedding cake they made us, it was gorgeous. **I added some photos. Flint Hill is such a beautiful place! My only concern when we booked the venue was that there was another wedding in the morning, but when I got there at my assigned time, there was nothing left of the other wedding. You would've never guessed there had been anyone there before us. A perfectly seamless transition. Having most of the big vendors be through the same company (A Divine Event) makes things a lot easier. Our ceremony was held in the courtyard during golden hour, and it was just the most romantic setting. Our Flint Hill team was incredible! Katie was super kind and responsive throughout planning, and even thought we had to make many adjustments because of COVID, she did her very best to help us in the planning. Kari was our day-of coordinator, and she was crazy good! Everything ran so smoothly, she was on top of everything! Now the food... we still have people texting us about the food! Best wedding food ever! The catering team has a very extensive menu and will work with you to create something that fits what you envision. I hope everyone I know will get married here so I can eat their food again! On the verge of marriage? We heard so much about Flint Hill from friends, family, co-workers, all wonderful reviews on how smooth everything was, and how good the food was. Well everyone was 100% right. Everyone still talks about our wedding. The staff is incredible at Flint Hill, everything went so smooth we had absolutely nothing to worry about. Not only that, but the food was excellent! I LOATHE wedding food, and everyone gobbled this up. Pay extra for their cake too, I've never tasted cake so moist. Everyone was going back for 2nds and 3rds...we had a very large cake and it was all gone, AND we let them cut into our top layer as well! It was so good that even one year later we can't wait to defrost it! The flowers were perfect, the grounds looked wonderful, I can't say enough about Flint Hill. The only negative is there is a train track close by, and we got the train whistle in the middle of our ceremony (outdoors)...but it was actually quite funny and everyone got a laugh. We're so happy we held our wedding at Flint Hill! Jennifer, Anna and the staff pulled off a great event, making the big day a breeze for us. We got countless compliments from our guests about the venue itself, the food and the decorations. Our guests really took advantage of the space: it was fun seeing conversations happen in corners of the house, people congregating by the outdoor bar and of course a packed dance floor. Through the planning process, there was some change in the staff members we worked with, which was concerning for us -- but when it came time for the event, everything went off without a hitch. My husband and I just got married at Flint Hill last month, and, honestly, I can't say that I'm without complaints. First of all, every time we scheduled an appointment with the people at Flint Hill, no one was there to greet us, and we were left wandering around the lobby for a long time before anyone acknowledged our presence. Even when someone came down to greet us finally, they were usually a little perplexed by the fact that we were there. Also, I didn't think there was anything that special about their cakes. To me, they tasted like the cheap cakes you buy at a grocery store, and the people who were with me at the tasting agreed. The actual cake was too dry and the icing was way too sweet. We ended up going to another place for our cake because for me, it was very important that the cake not only looked good but tasted good. I think, though, my biggest complaint about Flint Hill has to do with their lack of organization. Weeks before my wedding, I was asked to schedule an appointment to drop things off for the wedding day (bubbles, pictures, guestbook, etc.). I drove all the way out to Flint Hill on the day of my appointment, filled out all of the necessary forms, and then left all of my things with them, trusting that they would take care of putting them out and not losing them. Boy, was I wrong. On the day of the wedding, I of course was much too caught up in being the actual bride to make sure that the guestbook and the pictures for our wedding were put out upon my arrival. Due to the fact that I came at my appointment time and made arrangements with my wedding coordinator, I assumed that all of this would be taken care of. However, when it came time for the groom and me to leave, I asked our coordinator where the bubbles were for our exit, and she looked like she was completely clueless. "What bubbles?" she asked me. This is when I realized that the guestbook and the pictures had not been set out for the entire day. She went on a mad rush to find the things and eventually was about to get everything together, but at that point, many of our guests had left and so very few were able to sign the guestbook. That guestbook was very expensive, and I went out of my way to make sure that the guestbook, pictures, and bubbles where there for my wedding day. For the amount of money that I was paying them to organize my wedding, you would think they would have been able to keep track of these things. Due to the aforementioned problems I had with Flint Hill, I was very conflicted about whether or not to give this place three stars or four stars. However, in the end, I have to think about my overall experience on the actual wedding day, and I have to say, looking back at my wedding, I have never been happier. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and whether your wedding is outside or inside, you will end up with beautiful pictures. Besides the guestbook and bubbles mix-up, the wedding coordinator was very professional, friendly and helpful at the rehearsal and on the actual day of the wedding. I was comfortable knowing that I was in good hands and that everything (well, almost everything) would be taken care of for me. On the day of my wedding, even if the venue would be hosting another wedding later that night, I was made to feel like Flint Hill was my home and that my guests and I were the only people they were concerned about. Based on conversations I've had with the guests at the wedding, it seemed like they only had positive things to say about their afternoon at Flint Hill as well. Other things I loved about the place: 1. All of the food (wedding cake aside) was delicious. People were raving about it. I do not eat fish, but everyone else seemed to especially love the salmon. There were plenty of menu options to choose from, and everything was reasonably priced. I feel like we had a good variety of food at our wedding and that everyone was able to find something that they wanted to eat. 2. The design department was very friendly and good at helping me get what I wanted. I love flowers, but I'm not by any means an expert on the subject. But the design department was very helpful and by just asking me questions about what I envisioned my wedding looking like, they were able to come up with design ideas that seemed customized to my exact wishes. On the day of the wedding, the flowers were almost exactly what I had imagined in my head. The only way they could have come any closer would be if they actually were able to read my mind. All in all, I feel like our wedding was as perfect as any wedding can get. Sure, I did have a few problems with Flint Hill that cannot be ignored and that prevents them from getting a five star review from me. However, at the end of the day, Flint Hill gave me my perfect wedding day, the day that I always dreamed about. If I had to do it over again (which, hopefully, I never will), I would still go to Flint Hill. read more

My daughter and new son in law got married at Flint Hill last weekend. My dh and I are from out of town, we were not involved directly with them pre-wedding, so the review is solely based on day of event. The staff is VERY professional, and know how to run a wedding. We were kept on time, and never had to worry about what to do next. Our on site coordinator, Brenda, was excellent and easy to work with. The provided floral arrangements, bouquets, and wedding cake all were great- glad my daughter was able to get it all in house. The grounds and house were impressive, especially for our family of "northerners". The food was excellent, I highly recommend the whole salmon- what a delicious showpiece. The bartenders were personable and kept the lines moving- and they remembered what you were drinking. The only thing I would have maybe changed was renting the space for a longer time, I hated to leave, but we were all exhausted! All in all, I highly recommend this venue, and felt that it was an overall good bargain for a wedding. read more

We got married here May 21, 2017. From start to finish our experience was incredible. The staff was amazing! They were all very patient with me and my family and answered any questions we had. The facility is so beautiful. Working with Magical Moments was awesome as well. The food was so great! Many of our guests commented on how great the food tasted and the chef was amazing and catered to our vegan needs. The event staff were masterful in creating a fun and loving environment without being in the way. The day of wedding coordinator, Ashley, was phenomenal and really helped the day flow. Every interaction we had with the staff, whether it was the event staff, wedding planners, coordinators, was enjoyable and pleasant. I recently delivered a wedding cake to Flint Hill for a bakery I work for. Altho I appreciated the gentleman(?) who helped me carry it in, I must say I was shocked at his attitude and rudeness. I walked in with a smile on my face ready to introduce myself and ask for directions to the proper location for the cake. The planner was very rude and complained that I was too early, altho I had followed the delivery time on the order. She never introduced herself, nor did the man who helped me. I have never entered a venue where I was treated like that. Usually, the planner and all people involved are very friendly and ALWAYS welcomed me and introduced themselves, if I didn't know them from the past. I hope I don't have to go back there. But it is my job and I will if I have to, but next time I'll be better prepared to be treated poorly. read more

Don't expect to get any "refundable" deposits back if you are forced to cancel for any reason. They will give you the runaround about it for a while before eventually telling you that your SOL. Flint Hill house and grounds are pretty, but don't be fooled! I recommend Founders or Naylor Hall in Roswell because they offer a similar look (old southern antebellum homes) but with more flexibility, value, and customer service. I will mention that the food at FH was good and the only good value with Magic Moments (the parent company). BUT you must use their SUPER EXPENSIVE decor studio for flower and decor, and their in house caterer, Divine Events. The designer I met with was difficult & unresponsive. He consistently told me how busy he was as an excuse for not getting back to me for days at a time. None of the staff we worked with seemed happy or took any ownership for their responsibilities. It was impossible to get timely responses from anyone. I feel like it's a combination of not enough employees and booking too many weddings. I think it's something like 8 weddings a weekend! Magic Moments will nickel and dime you for everything but not provide the high-end service to back it up. Even simple Christmas lights cost $300-$1000, b/c FH says they take them down after most of their weddings for landscaping. FYI I couldn't find one photo on Google under "Flint Hill Wedding Photography" where the lights were not on in the bushes ($300 for their basic pkg). This tells me they are always up, they just want to take advantage of brides and parents who are not paying attention. Naylor Hall and other facilities include the lights at no charge. With my first collection of issues, I contacted the 1st owner who ended up providing decent customer service and including the lights because she found my point valid. Beware: Flint Hill will not let you bring ANY outside "extras". I had a huge struggle with them to bring in a personalized $50 Etsy sign because they wanted the studio to do it for $200!! Our $77 table arrangements (just for the floral part) were completely wrong. No coral or peach flowers, only cheap white hydrangeas (the one flower we did not want) and cheap greenery. These were worth $15 at the most. When I emailed the 2nd owner after the wedding about the flowers and some other issues she admitted Magic Moments owed me a refund (b/c I provided the designer's notes and actual photos as documentation) but would not pay it to me because she claimed I was not being a "mature adult." Apparently she felt the need to insult me because I would not schedule a phone call with her subordinate and wanted only written emails for documentation purposes. One issue that was very shady was buying additional expensive bottles of wine. FYI it is Magic Moment's policy you can not take unopened, paid-for bottles home. Their staff either takes them home, sells them to someone else, or sells them back to the distributor (I don't know b/c no one would ever give me a straight answer). They claim this policy is documented, but it was never brought to our attention until after my complaint. It is not in the contract that we signed and is only on the last invoice. Our planner should have had us initial it if we had gone over it! We ended up not drinking 8 bottles that they made total profit from. Also, do not bring valuable personal items. 3 or 4 of my husband's original family photos were thrown out (make copies and use cheap frames!). They claim they are not responsible for your stuff (which I understand) but also claim to have an inventory process. There was no process! After our departure they shoved a box at my mom and said "here's her stuff" as if they had diligently collected everything. Then they had her sign a random paper (not the inventory checklist they required I provide at drop off). She felt uneasy so she decided to check some smaller rooms in the house where the STAFF had distributed our photos. She found several additional family photos but sill missed a few of my groom's family. I contacted them from our honeymoon via email a couple days after because I was worried about not having personally collected our stuff. The new planner there (mine had gone on maternity leave) responded to my email very dismissively..."don't worry your parents got everything and signed for it." They still have not provided the requested copy of the paper my mom signed. It was at this time many guests witnessed rude staff giving my parents a hard time before everything could be accounted for. Beware of this company and any of it's facilities! They are all about sheer volume and zero customer service...every bride is just a number. The staff and management are cold and unemphatic. It appears they are trying to be the fast food chain of weddings...if that's the case I would like to congratulate them. They've succeeded! read more

I got married at Flint Hill in June, and I'd like to start off by saying the food was great and the venue was beautiful. The food and décor are expensive (you have to use the in-house caterer and their decorator) but there are ways to keep costs down on the décor if the person handling your event gives you all the right information. Anyway, I want to talk about two things that caused me unnecessary stress on my wedding day. FYI, everyone is assigned a wedding coordinator the week of their wedding. My wedding was at 7:30pm and the earliest the wedding party could get there was 5:30pm. My husband and I originally wanted to do a first look because that's what our wedding coordinator advised us to do. We ended up deciding against this because our photographer said we would not have time to get all the pictures in before the ceremony because I would need to be hidden away by 6:45. It turns out that we wouldn't have been able to do the first look anyway because a rehearsal for the wedding the next day started at 5:30pm. The contract we signed said the venue wasn't exclusively ours until 7, but you would think they would at least tell us that there was going to be a rehearsal during the time I was trying to take pictures with my bridesmaids. It is also awful that they would try to tell us to do our first look before the ceremony when they KNEW we wouldn't have access to the alter, which they also knew was where we wanted to do our first look. Thank goodness our photographer talked us out of it beforehand or else the first look would have been ruined and I'm sure that would have had a negative impact on my mood. My second issue was with the wedding coordinator. A few days before the wedding day, I took all the "things" to the house so the coordinator would be able to set them out for me the day of. This included the cake topper, ring bearer pillow, flower girl baskets, guest book, etc. Well, apparently the coordinator forgot about some of the stuff because it was time for the ring bearer to walk down the aisle and he didn't have the pillow with the rings, so my dad had to run upstairs and find it while there was an awkward pause. I'm sure my dad loved that stressful moment right before he was going to walk me down the aisle. The coordinator also screwed up my music. I sent her specific instructions for the music, but when it was time for the wedding party to enter, the coordinator told the DJ to start playing my entrance song. Luckily my maid of honor was on top of it and quickly told the coordinator it was the wrong song. Days after the wedding, my mom told me that when she arrived at the venue she walked around the house to make sure everything looked okay, and the cake topper wasn't on the cake. The coordinator was supposed to leave it on the cake table so when it was delivered the bakery people could put it on. My mom told her it was missing so the coordinator found it and put it on, but it fell over several times during the night because the professionals hadn't been able to do it. I understand that people make mistakes, but hers were careless and stuff like that really shouldn't happen when it's your job. So much planning gets put into weddings, so having someone screw stuff up when it's their job to make your life easier is really disappointing. read more

Where do I even start???? My husband and I celebrated our wedding on 10/4/13 at Flint Hill. From day one of searching for the right venue we just knew this was the place. We felt confident because of the several years they have been doing business. Our day was flawless, no hiccups, no nothing! Our wedding planner, Kerry, really went above and beyond. I trusted her and was able to just sit back, relax and enjoy every moment. The house decorates it self so we really didn't have much to do. Even our outside vendors were complimenting the staff because they felt taken care of. The guests loved the staff, the food and really liked the circle of love type ceremony we did. I had my wedding at Flint Hill. The venue was nice with a lot of southern charm. The food was great. The staff however leaves much to be desired. They will reel you in with niceness when they try to sale you on having your event at the venue, but once you sign the contract, things could change. The wedding director that comes with your package plan is given to you the week prior to your wedding, so you won't know who that person will be up to that time. I did not meet my director until the day before my wedding at the rehearsal. She lack interpersonal skills and did not follow directions well. As a result, my pictures were scattered all over the venue and some of my reserved guests were left without their seating at my wedding. To add insult to injury, instead of directing and acting professional as I expected of her, she was out on the floor dancing at my reception. I complained to the venue expecting some compensation for the rude director I paid for, but they did not give me anything... Nothing. How considerate is that ... I suggest if you utilize Flint Hill or any other Magic Moments venue, find out who your wedding director will be early on before it's too late and do a thorough interview. I just know for the high cost of this venue, service charges and reputation, I expected much, much better. read more

The garden is beautiful if it doesn't rain. Unfortunately, it rained that night and they were not ready to handle the situation. They told us that they would use the ballroom or tent for the ceremony in case of rain, but neither happened. People waited for 30 to 45 minutes and got impatient. The appetizer was not enough for the number of people they charged us for and that caused us an embarrassing situation. The standard dinner plate was a cocktail sized plate. When I asked why, they told me it would prevent people from eating more. This caused me to upgrade to larger dinner plates which cost extra. Everyone enjoyed the dinner, stating it was delicious. Flint Hill advertises that the place is large enough for 250 people but that is not true. The ballroom is big enough for up to 80-90 people and the rest of the people have to sit outside under the tent and in the garden area, separating them from the party. Of course if it rains, you can not use the garden area.I do not recommend a wedding at Flint Hill unless you have a small guest list and are prepared to spend big bucks for every little thing. read more
