I recently attended my sister's wedding here. It's very quaint. I think it's a bed and breakfast? Upstairs they have some rooms with bathrooms. The beds seem a bit small so not sure how romantic that is. The floors are also quite squeaky if I remember correctly. Very charming! The main hall can seat a lot of people, but you do have to clear out some tables to make for a decently sized dance floor. They have a porch here which makes for nice photos. The backyard is presumably where you hold the wedding reception. There are some very steep stairs going down to the backyard. read more

We held our annual company holiday party this year at the Whitlock Inn in Marietta. The Whitlock Inn is a historic Victorian home built in 1900. It's located next to Marietta Square. The inn is a popular spot for weddings. Their slogan is "we put the Marry in Marietta." They've won multiple awards from wedding service company The Knot. It's not hard to see why. The home is beautiful and for our party, it was tastefully and elegantly decorated for the holidays. In addition to weddings and holiday parties, the inn also hosts many corporate and social events. It's a charming, smaller, intimate setting. The house was traditionally decorated with Christmas wreaths and lights. As we walked up to the house, it looked like a scene from a Christmas movie. The home felt warm and inviting. I estimate we had about 100 attendees at the party. I believe the venue can host up to 150. Our party consisted of cocktails and dinner. A coat rack was set up in the office near the front door. A bar was set up in one of the parlors. The inn doesn't have a liquor license, so we had to bring our own alcohol. Food was catered by Carriage House Catering, which is located on-site. The small dining room had a dessert table, tea and water, and a coffee station. The dessert table's centerpiece was a classic gingerbread house. It was surrounded by chocolate bourbon pecan pies (derby pie), large glass containers filled with creme brulee and colorful berries, plates of baked brie, and other decadent sweets. Coffee was kept warm and stored in an ornate silver coffee dispenser. Chocolate shavings and a bowl of whipped cream were available to add to the coffee. Dinner was served buffet-style and consisted of a mixed field salad with cherries, walnuts, Parmesan, and a spiced orange vinaigrette, hot Charleston crab dip served with flatbreads, sauteed seasonal vegetables including carrots, zucchini, and asparagus, red skin mashed potatoes, sliced prime rib in a rosemary au jus with spicy horseradish sauce, roasted salmon fillets cooked with pomegranate buerre blanc (white butter), and dinner rolls. Overall, the food was pretty good. The salmon was dry, but that was the only "bad" thing. Most of the other items were delicious. My favorites were the flavorful field salad, the savory vegetables, and the consistently soft and appetizing mashed potatoes. The desserts were excellent and the coffee station was fun. I enjoyed the rich chocolate bourbon pecan pie. Service was good. The bartenders filled drinks to the brim and servers made sure the buffet was replenished regularly and finished plates were cleared from the tables. Our dinner took place in the large ballroom which had chandelier lighting. There was a pianist in the dining room who played Christmas music non-stop throughout the night (3-4 hours). Aside from the ballroom, the house has many areas to congregate and socialize including the aforementioned dining room and parlor rooms, as well as front and back porches outside. There are also gardens outside. Inside, holiday decor included a brightly lit tree, festive candles, Nutcrackers, Christmas trumpets, poinsettias, and a staircase lined with ornamented garlands. It was picturesque. Plenty of parking is available at SunTrust Bank next door or across the street at First United Methodist Church. I recommend parking at the bank so you don't have to walk across the street. read more

Like all the other reviewers, I went here for a wedding. I was able to get a grand tour and check out the bedrooms upstairs as well, which were very cozy looking as well. The wedding here had 135 people, so it was a bit crowded. It was also pretty cold in the Inn despite all the body heat. The place is gorgeous and a very romantic setting for a wedding or even a weekend getaway. I highly recommend the Whitlock Inn! read more

The Whitlock Inn helped us throw our dream reception. We had originally planned to use my parents neighborhood clubhouse for our reception but quickly changed our minds after seeing the Whitlock Inn. The grounds are absolutely lovely. The garden in the back is meticulously maintained and the Inn itself is gorgeous and also well maintained. Alexis, the owner, is so inviting and welcoming it makes you want to spend the whole day/weekend there. Too bad it's not a functioning bed and breakfast anymore :( I loved the fact that everything was included - I didn't have to rent tables and chairs or linens. They even provided mirrors and hurricanes with candles for our centerpieces.They set up and took down everything for us. It was so nice to just show up and everything was beautifully taken care of for us. The catering was also good despite a few glitches with them in the planning process. I am so glad that we chose the Whitlock Inn to host our reception. It's been over a week and people are still buzzing about it - that's how you know you threw a good party! My sister and her husband had their wedding here on a Saturday evening. The inn is very quaint and cute. Both the groom and the bride each got a room to dress. We were just short of 100 people - it could certainly take a few more people to fill up the place. We enjoyed the space a lot. The food, prepared on site and available only in buffet style, was EXCELLENT. We were pretty impressed by how yummy it was - not usually expected at weddings. It's a great place to hold a wedding. Such a lovely place. Was in my good friend's wedding held here last weekend. The grounds are nice, the accommodations quaint and the refreshing AC blasting out of vents enough to blow your hair back. :) Food was yummy...Hello grits! There are only a few parking spaces on the grounds but guests were available to park at the bank or the church across the street. read more

The Whitlock Inn was the perfect setting for our wedding rehearsal dinner. Kathy Heilman was outstanding to work with. Her husband even pitched in to assist with the audio/visual equipment we brought in for a slideshow. Kathy took time to meet us at the Inn to give us a tour and answer our many questions. The day of the event, she make herself available to our vendors (food and flowers) and was behind the scenes to make sure everything went as we had planned. Our special evening went well beyond our expectations thanks to Kathy's personal touch. Kathy has recently taken over the Whitlock Inn. Her plans to update it, while still honoring the time period in which it was built, is going to be an improvement which I can't wait to see in the near future. My daughter's wedding and reception were held at The Whitlock Inn on July 3, 2016. It was 100 degrees F., but we were still able to have the wedding outside in the lovely shaded garden. The reception was inside where it was as cool as can be. I would highly recommend the Whitlock if you want the consummate professional guiding you. Rhonda and Janice were fabulous from our first tour until the wedding was over. Everything is planned to the nth degree allowing the bride and her mom to glide through the evening in pure happiness as it should be. Brides-go to the Whitlock for your wedding. Every room inside is designed to be the perfect backdrop for your photographs. The outside garden is lovely as well for the perfect backdrop. read more

My friend had her wedding here (I served as bridesmaid) and it was such a nice venue. There's a great garden out back that can hold ceremonies--it was a perfect fit for our party. In springtime, it's perfect because there's also a great variety of flowers to help suit the mood. Inside, the facilities were a perfect fit for the buffet-style reception and for everyone to sit comfortably. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal, even if the parking can be a bit difficult. If you're looking to get married, you should consider the Whitlock Inn. read more

The Whitlock Inn has some good points, but there are many downfalls. Alexis shoots herself in the foot when she encourages folks with more than 100 people to use the venue. There is no indoor alternative for rainy nights.The house is very nice if you like historic homes, but there are lots of problems. The parking situation is awful you must park in the church across the street and if it's raining it is quite a hike to the parking lot. The house is located on a very busy 4 lane street and does not have a circular driveway.. Alexis said an off-duty policeman would be there to assist you in crossing, but on our rainy night, nobody was available when we arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony. There is no canopy or awning, so even if you were lucky enough to be let out in front of the house, you will get wet and so will your gown. Valet parking is definitely required. The wedding I attended with 180 people could not be accommodated properly. Half of the guests ate dinner under a tent in the backyard the other half were inside. Nobody wanted to be out under the tent in the rain while the band was playing inside, so180 people were crammed into the house. The appetizers were served in an 8 x 10 room with a 6 foot table. Most of our guests could not get near the table. They opened the buffet for dinner even before the bride and groom were introduced so folks were already outside under the tent eating at the time of the introductions.. The appetizers were awful. The dry chicken fingers tasted like cardboard. The chicken and salmon were tasteless. Perhaps the worst problem was in the two small powder rooms located on the first floor. They were never serviced during the evening and the trash was overflowing with dirty towels. It looked like a bomb went off. One powder room was less than 6 feet from the table where people were eating dinner. The dance floor was so tiny that no more than 20 people could comfortably dance. This was a problem for our large group. If you have no more than 100 people and also have a bright sunny day, you may be all right, but for the prices charged, the value is poor. My husband and I were married this past June at the Whitlock Inn. I don't think I can quite properly convey what an amazingly positive experience it was. The people who work at the Whitlock are wonderful. They were friendly, accommodating, and excited. We don't live in Atlanta, so we were particularly nervous that the planning process would be difficult, but they made it easy. They were responsive when we had questions. They worked with us to set-up meetings while we were in town. My mother went in several times to meet with Rhonda and Alexis, who owns the Whitlock, about details, and when I got to town before the wedding, we met with Alexis again. Alexis was thorough, and clearly put in the effort to make sure my fiancé and I and my family were all happy. Karen, the coordinator we worked with on the evening of the event, kept everything going smoothly. Everyone who was at the event itself, from the bartenders to the chefs working the stations at the buffet, was friendly and fun. The venue itself is beautiful. I can't do it justice in writing so I encourage you to take a look at their website and visit. We got married outside in the backyard under the canopy of trees, and then afterwards moved into the house for the reception. We had about 110 people and the set-up was perfect. There was a dance floor in the main hall, which was well-used by our guests, but because it's an inn there were also rooms at the front of the house and porches where people could chat. The food was great. In terms of value to the dollar, I'm still a little in awe of the fact that the Whitlock Inn was the most affordable place we looked at when we were first checking out venues, because we hands-down liked it the best. I definitely give the Whitlock Inn my highest recommendation. read more
