Booking appointments and making any changes that come up has consistently been easy. This year was no exception. We had a few last-minute tweaks, like switching a partial updo to a full updo and changing a shampoo and blowout to a dry style, and they were very accommodating. Group bookings can be tricky, so we really appreciate that flexibility. In the past, they paired you with one stylist for hair and a separate makeup artist, but this time it seemed like the same person handled both services. It was our first experience with this setup. While everyone was happy with how their hair and makeup turned out, there were some conversations about preferring specialists for each service, as many stylists tend to have a stronger focus on either hair or makeup. Tried again this year and was lucky -- my (forgot-his-name) male stylist was amazing! He listened, nailed the look, and my curls actually lasted all night -- no small feat for my naturally straight hair! I sent this email a couple of months ago, and I am still waiting for a response. I held off on a review, hoping that we could come up with a solution to the terrible service I received.... I am reaching out regarding a frustrating experience during my recent visit to Primp and Blow before a concert. This was my first time visiting your salon. I have previously gone to Drybar, where curls and styling are simply part of a blowout, so I was surprised by how this appointment unfolded. My friend and I arrived at the same time. She was called back to the washing station while I remained waiting in the lobby for my stylist to finish styling his own hair. When he did take me back, the wash felt rushed, and I was brought back to the chair before my friend had even finished having her hair washed and pampered. When I explained the look I wanted, I asked about curling my hair, and the stylist told me it would be an additional "hot tool" upcharge. I also asked for a small braid in the front and was told this would be another upcharge. Despite showing a photo, I did not receive a braid and was given a twist instead. The entire service felt hurried and inattentive. It was also clear that I was his last client of the day, as he seemed eager to finish and leave. My total before tip was approximately $93--I was never shown the screen with the charges and did not receive a receipt, which all felt very secretive--due to multiple upcharges, and with tip, I paid $108. Meanwhile, my friend received a longer, more relaxing experience, had curls added without extra charges, and paid only $68. She started her service before me and ended after me. Given that I was booked with an "Elite" stylist, I expected a more attentive and pampering experience, not a quicker and more expensive one. I left feeling disappointed and confused by both the service and the pricing. The experience I received did not reflect the level of service I expected from an "elite stylist" and your salon. I am requesting a refund or partial refund to resolve this issue. I look forward to your response. read more

I will never go here again. I have a membership which should decrease monthly costs, but every time I try to use my monthly blowouts, there are surcharges that make my cost more than if I'd just paid upfront. Today I booked an appointment with two guests. I was charged $40 extra because apparently now there are charges for "elite stylists." The three of us checked in at 9:07am and were all done before 9:35am. Even though hot tool is included with my membership fees, the stylists didn't want to use a hot tool for any of us. Apparently two of us had elite stylists (shocking, my 6 year old daughter could have given us a better hairstyle), and I was charged $40 extra. Even with the two elite stylists they claimed we had, that should have been just $20 extra. I've been on the phone all day, but no one can help me. Apparently the manager will call me tomorrow. I'm not very hopeful. I'll probably have to file a fraud charge with my credit card company. read more

I wouldn't recommend coming here if you have curly hair and want a decent blowout for Arizona weather. The stylist that did my hair did not listen to my concerns about trying to avoid frizz considering the weather and the time for my event was later in the day. In my 45 minute appointment she gossiped to her friend next to her a handful of times and barely made any conversation with me while in the chair. It was the longest appointment ever. She hardly used product to help my blowout stay longer considering my 3A curls and her only suggestion was not to "touch it so much" so it would stay together over the next few hours. I brought in my own extensions to use and for the price I paid I was so disappointed in the service, vibe and cost. I would never come here again. Absolute waste of $. Go anywhere else. read more

So this has been a long time coming as I don't usually post negative reviews but I believe at this point and after two years and me avoiding this place like the plague I need to let others know what's expected of them when they get to this location! I made an appointment at the high street location because it's about 10 minutes from my home and therefore easy to get to! That's where the positives stop! I get there 15 minutes early and tell the receptionist I'm a little early but don't mind taken care of earlier as I was in a hurry to get to a special dinner, she nods and proceeds to tell the young lady who would be doing my hair my message. Cut to half hour past my appointment time and the stylist is still doing someone else's hair and no one has come over to let me know what's happening! I get up and ask the receptionist softly if I another stylist can see me since the one who is supposed to be doing my hair is busy and I'm told unfortunately everyone is busy - even though I can see another stylist just sitting there! Cut to an hour after my original appointment and the stylist comes over and angrily tells me to follow her. At this point I'm a little upset with what's transpired and I'm thinking I'll be late to my dinner for sure :( I'm expecting an apology but my expectation and what I actually received were two totally different things! I asked the stylist what happened and I had to wait for a full hour and she grabs my arm, pushes me down on the chair and proceeds to angrily whisper that I should try acting like an adult not a child, and I shouldn't complain! Then she starts to angrily brush my hair and every chance she gets she - mistakenly hits me in the head with the brush! I've never in my entire life been so disrespected and if I had known the only stylist they had to do my hair resembled an anaconda I would have gone elsewhere! I wanted to book a blowout and makeup application here, as I was attending a gala across the street at the Desert Ridge Marriott, but there were no appointments available when I looked online. I called the salon and they were very accommodating and able to squeeze me in at 4:30 but only had time for a dry style. I arrived at 4:30 and still had to wait 10 minutes for my stylist to finish up her previous client. The ladies working at the front desk were nice but a little distracted. Neither greeted me when I walked in, and I also stood at the counter waiting for several minutes to check out. There were only two stylists working on hair and a full row of chairs available, so I'm guessing they may be short-staffed as many businesses are. I feel bad I didn't get my stylist's name, but she was very sweet and she did a phenomenal job on my hair. She gave me exactly what I wanted, some loose, romantic waves with a good amount of volume, and it only took her maybe 10-15 minutes. I didn't have much time to waste, so that more than made up for the time I had to wait when I arrived. I'm from Tucson and was only in the area for the night, but I would definitely return here for a blowout in the future. I thought the price was fair and the service is great. I had my hair and makeup done for a black tie wedding. The makeup artist did a phenomenal job. I decided to have my hair done with dry hair and a sleek ponytail. Lily who did it was very sweet and I know she is very talented. I just think it is a total rip off to charge $10.00 to use a hot tool on a Ponytail. It took her maybe 30 seconds to make 3 curls on a shoulder length ponytail. Not her fault at all just a annoying policy they have.
