We just stopped in here to check the place out. I am familiar with the amazing Promo Food Mart, which apparently is not related to this place (they have different websites). It's very small and the walkways are tight, like maybe the width of two people. They have tons of raw meat & fish for sale, as well as prepared cooked food. They have a separate register for burrito, taco, and tamale orders. No need to pay $20 for a carne asada burrito anywhere else, they have them for $9.99 here. On Tuesdays and Fridays, tacos are $0.99. We bought some shrimp ceviche and aguachiles. Both could have used a little more shrimp but the flavors were good. I do like their carne asada, carnitas, etc. more than most places around Oceanside. I've tried different ones of their mexican breads, but they have an off taste to me. It comes down to the ingredients that are being used so far, haven't found a mexican bakery I love around here. Also, I agree with Michelle G. Recently have been going for Taco Tuesdays and Fridays. They are quick to take orders and give your food. Our top three are adobada, carnitas and carne asada tacos. You also get to choose and get your own salsas. You better know what you want before you stand in line because they will take your order and will not wait for you. We live close so its so easy to stop by, also for produce if we need something really quick. read more

First time trying food from here since we recently moved down the street. We wanted to try the rotisserie chicken with rice and beans, but they were out of the sides. We opted for tacos instead and all they had was adobado and carne asada. That being said, if you want all of the menu options make sure you get there earlier in the evening (we got there around 8). The tacos were delicious! The adobado Taco was my favorite. The seasoning/sauce on it was delicious and kind of had a smoky and bbq flavor with some Mexican flair. I would highly recommend that menu item. The carne asada was alright, not the best I have ever had, but still decent. The tacos are a great deal at $1.19 each and I believe on Tuesdays they are only 79 cents. I also ordered a cantaloupe agua Fresca. OMG. If you like cantaloupe and you like agua Fresca, this is for you! It tasted so fresh and delicious. I grew up eating a lot of cantaloupe (my parents grew it) and this tastes like I am biting into a slice of one. It's that fresh tasting. We also got some chips and some ceviche from the market. This place is actually called Primos. My classmates and I came here per someone else's recommendation because she said they had $0.79 tacos on taco Tuesday! So cheap and delicious! I got the carne asada and was very satisfied after 5 tacos! I wasn't even that hungry but the tacos were that good. There's a small parking lot in front and 2 round bench tables that you can sit down and eat at. This is a market so if you order from the prepared foods section, you'll have to take it home or try to snag one of the two tables. I highly recommend this place for your Mexican groceries and tacos on taco Tuesdays! Might I even suggest ordering one carnitas meal to SHARE. The portions of carnitas, rice, and beans served in one plate is WAY TOO MUCH for one human -unless I am sorely misjudging the average appetite, then by all means, order your own and FEAST! Add the tortillas and WOAH, what fullness! Also an easy go-to for other treats like pan dulce (ugh, conchas are my WEAKNESS), flan, 3 leches cake, and a variety of zesty Mexican candy! The tacos were served generously with double tortilla and plenty of meat. They have onion and cilantro toppings as well as lime and salsa. The options were chicken, carnitas, adobada and carne asada. My husband loves his tacos with guacamole so I bought an avocado and made him some quick guac to top off his tacos. If you really want to kick it up a notch, sauté some of the adobada taco meat with canned pineapple and add that to your adobada tacos. Delish!!! This store is not much better than the Dollar Tree. In fact, it has a lot less stuff. THIS STORE IS THE WORST Market i have been too. This is a great place to shop if you do not care about quality, either of the products or the shopping experience. I come here sometimes because it is very close to my friends house. Many of the items are generic, which in itself is not too bad. they have a few name brand things, mostly candy bars priced below typical grocery prices. However, many of the no-name products use inferior ingredients. If you care about that, be sure to read the labels. I suspect they sell a lot of produce grocery stores can't/won't sell. They don't regularly stock some items. The lettuce heads are brown and loose. I have purchased bags of small potatoes where most of them have been inedible, or go bad quickly. They do have a lot of seasonal stuff here, which as long as it's not food is good. My friend bought me a milk chocolate bar when I opened it a few days later, it was white and old. In addition, they under staff the front end with only a two cashiers for lots of people that go here especially during the long lines during peak hours. It's OK for an occasional item or two, as long as that item is not food or something you can't wait in a line to get. It would also be swell if you could also get the produce guy to know what he is doing! i will return and see if maybe that was just a year of bad experience lol read more

If this place is anywhere near you try it out! I drop by here anytime I'm grilling. Simply pick a meat from the counter and ask for it to be prepared. Like all the other markets they'll toss in some onions marinade. You want to get this a day before you cook out so it'll be ready. The guac and salsas are also great and cheap. Cheese prices are also very cheap. Other grocery stores don't come close. read more

The prepared food section takes up a good part of the store and they have everything that you could possibly want. The tamales were a $1 each (beef, pork, cheese, pineapple, etc.) and they were huge! The meat market section had quite a few varieties of marinated meats - wish I had a grill. They also have ceviche, salsa, guacamole, tortillas and tons of Mexican breads.
