Very relaxed ambiance and we were seated right away with a reservation The waitress was super polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our aged porterhouse was delicious and that crust was a crunchy and smoky goodness. My husband and I shared one as it had the best of both worlds-a filet mignon on one side and the ribeye on the other. My filet mignon just melted in the mouth with the red wine bordelaise sauce. With my Asian food background, I thought the bordelaise sauce was similar to a soy sauce with a hint of vinegar. Our roasted mushrooms and loaded potato were yummy. I loved how the mushrooms didn't lose their chewiness from being roasted. We also had the spaghetti pomodoro and the blistered shishido peppers. Both were very tasty! Beware about the shishido peppers, you may bite into a spicy one! Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and the service. The hot towel for our hands at the end was a nice plus. read more

1st let me tell you it's Veterans Day and I asked are you doing anything for Veterans Day they are like no. 2nd let me tell you this is a steakhouse bring out our prime rib to the perfection we asked for. My wife had to send her prime rib back. I made reservations on OpenTable and they asked is this a special dinner and I said yes it's our anniversary and my mother in law's anniversary and guess what it was never even brought up. Our meal was almost 200 dollars guess what 200 isn't the problem but when you pay that for 2 people get it right. I ordered my prime rim medium it was medium rare but I wasn't gonna send it back. The ambiance was a okay. My only concern is I'm not sure if I'll come back to this place only because I ordered the prime rib which comes with 2 sides. I ordered my 2 sides which was the baked potato and Mac and cheese but when I ordered the Mac and cheese she said it's 3 dollar extra I'm like okay that's fine. I'm on a date for my anniversary was I gonna say no I don't want it but why is there a 3 dollar up charge for when you look at menu it doesn't say I gotta pay extra for that side. Get it TOGETHER PRIME TABLE. Also a drink an appetizer even a dessert for the ones who protected this country. On 2/17/24 My wife surprised me with a birthday dinner here as I turned 53. I have to say it was the best dining experience I've had in Stockton and I've lived here my whole life. The food was delicious, the service was very good our food server was very attentive and knowledgeable in the way of the memu. the prices are on par for the quality of food. my only rant would be the lighting, it's a bit dimly lit. Came here for a Valentine's Day date with my husband. Food and drinks were amazing! Ambiance is very romantic and classy without being stuffy. I've eaten here a few times. The first time was on a Thursday and we just happened to walk in. We had no reservations and sat at the bar. We each ordered a glass of wine, salads, an order of prime rib sliders and triple cooked fries. Everything was excellent. The sliders were delicious, the salads were ample size, and the fries were so crispy and hot. We have returned 3 times with others and have had service at a table and complete meals and have been satisfied. When it it just my husband and I, we prefer to sit at the bar and eat. I loved the atmosphere of this restating. Definitely a well themed place with almost a speak easy type charm. It is a small interior and my husband and I sat at the bar because they were pretty busy but service was excellent and highly attentive. We had drinks of the menu, a manhanattan and greyhound and both were wonderful, followed by Cesar salad and prime rib and rib eye steaks. Both were down to perfection and all food was incredible. Delicious. The only downside is the lighting is incredibly dark. I could barely see the people sitting across the table from me, and it was before sunset. Now that the negative is out of the way, I still give it five stars for a reason. Bacon appetizer was fantastic. The entrée was fantastic. Bread for the sandwich was a really good fresh sourdough roll. The meat and au jus were pretty bland. I'm a "bland eater" and it was still even bland for me. No real flavor or even a hint of salt. This is a really mixed view overall experience for me. Let's start with the ambiance the restaurant was what you would expect for a steak house. Nice quiet setting with just the right amount if lighting to day its on the elegant side. As we arrived about 30 minutes early to meet friends for dinner for a nice quiet evening with couples we approached the bar area while our table was being prepared. The bartender was great we were greeted and taken care of right away even with a full bar. We were greeted and taken to outer table at or close to our reservation time. That is were things hanged dramatically for our nice evening out. We ordered appetizers and upon arrival another couple was sat across with us with a baby and a 5 yr old. The 5 yr old screed for an hour strait. We asked to be moved to another table because we could even hear each talk over the screaming. Their were tables in other locations and the would not accommodate the move. The waitress was asked could you see if you can ask them to try and maybe take the boy outside and see if they could get their kid under control as we and the other 20 people on this side can't enjoy our dinner. She rudely said I am a single mother and I'm offended by you asking. No apology for having to endure the situation but that we offended her for not wanting to hear screaming for an hour of our $400 dinner. As the food arrived the bacon appetizer was still raw. Mac and cheese was very average for a high end restaurant. The food was average for a steak house definitely not of a choice grade quality expected at a steak house. For the experience and the average quality of food and rude waitress I give a 2 star rating. Unfortunately we will not be back as we have found the quality the service and accommodation at Midgleys is much better than what we experience during our visit. I hope your waitress wasn't offended by the tip I left she probably deserved less with her smug unapologetic attitude to the situation. My bf took me here on our anniversary two months ago. We sat in a booth. The atmosphere was nice. The setting was beautiful & I loved the lighting inside. Customer service was awesome. Our waiter was very nice & constantly checking on us. I got the chicken Marsala & it was so delicious! I loved the mascarpone mashed potatoes & the mushrooms! My bf got some rare steak dish with mashed potatoes, I forgot which dish but I got to try his out too and it was delicious! The steak was so tender & juicy! We also got raw oysters & shrimp cocktail. My first time trying raw oysters & it was really good, especially with the sauce that came with it. Our tab came out to about $130 something. Little pricey, but worth it. So disappointed!! After a long day of ZOOM events I wanted a real meat dinner -- ordered online- doordash called to change the cut of meat due to availability - no problem! Holy hell, probably the best food (for sure, American-wise) I've had in Stockton ever. Went tonight for the first time with my bf for his birthday, seated right away, given warm bread, simple menus & our waiter (Andrew) knew how to explain it very well LOL I got the summer special prime rib + salad, mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts (those particular sides are $3+). Boyfriend got the dry-aged bone in New York+steamed broccoli, mac & cheese. Fucking fantastic prime rib. He's from LA so he likes to think he knows good steak, but even then he rated his dry-aged a 10/10. Only downside is it's definitely expensive, our bill was around $200, granted we got drinks too, but I think it was worth it. Also, wonderful service. Andrew put a candle on our dessert after I said it was the bf's birthday & I greatly appreciated it. I've eaten here 3-4 times. It definitely is one of the nicer places in Stockton. I love their mushrooms. Tastes like pieces of steak. Amazing. My only complaint is that when I Went there pregnant I asked for my steak to be just a pinch of pink. Of course I would have loved a bloody steak but I was pregnant. They ended up bringing it out to me super bloody and since I was soo hungry I just switched streaks with my husband but ultimately it wasn't the cut of steak I wanted soo I was disappointed. I just figure it you specialize in steaks and you charge a high price you should be cooking them correctly, but I know things happen. Dismal Experience. Sign outside says they are Expanding! Not good when they can't provide enough food from their menu for customers on a Tuesday night. Not a weekend run-out of food...A slow Tuesday night! With grocery stores in the same shopping center. They couldn't go to buy another potatoe or bunch of asparagus (which is in-season and available everywhere), nor cauliflower. Instead, we were informed that they were out of these items - by wait staff that obviously didn't mind failing restaurant 101 and that we only had creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.! Joked with with dismissive wait staff about what we would be compted instead she told me "Don't be that customer. Just don't. Really. Don't be that customer." Don't be that Restaurant that is so novice that they run out of basic food and act haughty about it. We paid and tipped the $299 bill leaving a glass of undrank wine on the table. We went to eat at Tavern for my birthday, but didn't want to wait, so we found this quaint, little restaurant with the most romantic ambience. It's the perfect couples night out type of place. The food was fabulous. The prices were a bit high for the quality. We've eaten at Mortys steak house, in NY, Chicago, and SF and the prices are less for their high end steak.
