Showed up quickly, yes, but they're right around the corner from me. I needed 4 keys made for the locks on my new house where I recently moved as I'd lost the extra keys to 2 of the 3 outside doors. What with all the moving, I guess I just didn't pay attention to where the spares were and I ended up having just 2 keys to the house, both to the same door. I called these guys and the owner came with bad news and a worse attitude. I own my own business and I have to explain to my clients every single day how to do what I do because that's why they hire me. I went to school to learn my craft, and they went to school to learn their's. When people ask me certain questions, a lot of them might seem stupid or nonsensical to me, but then I realize neither did they go to my school nor did they have any of my experience. Not only that, but they are paying me to do this! They are my customers! This locksmith was telling me why he needed to make different types of keys for the same lock (one key to go inside from the one lock and a different key to go outside in the same lock) and I'd never heard of or seen anything like that before, so I was questioning him about it. I've needed a locksmith occasionally in my life but I didn't go to locksmith school. And locksmith school is no joke. You have to pass a lot of scrutiny to get a license. Anyway, every question he answered, he was argumentative and irritable and totally disrespectful. Every question was answered with rolling eyes and shrugging shoulders. Then he decided he couldn't make a key for that lock at all! So he told me, very irritably, he could use the same key for the back door lock as he could the front lock. I said that was fine, go ahead. All the while I'd been telling him I needed 2 keys for each lock, 4 keys total--2 for my housemate and 2 for me. As he was working in the back of his truck, making the keys, I went back there and asked him "how should I write out the check" and he said, very irritably, "I'll tell you later, I'm busy now!" The bill was $195.00 and he came into the house with 2 keys. I said I needed 4 keys. He said I wanted 2--one for each door. I then reminded him that I'd I told him I needed 2 for each door, 2 for each housemate and he said that I could come to his shop and get the 2 extra keys whenever I wanted, and I said. No. That does it. That apparently got him and, with that same attitude he drove back to his shop, made the keys and came back. He walked into my house without knocking. I came into the foyer and he threw the keys on the table and left. But This attitude must change. I don't know what's going on this this guy's life. Maybe his mom or his wife is sick with the Covid.. I appreciate him wearing a mask. Maybe he's had a very long day of worry--about the Covid, his family and the economics of it all. These days are hard for all of us because of what's going on with the insanity in the world and I understand, so I gave him a 3 instead of a 2. And I do remember one other time when I went there, a few years ago with a very simple job. I just had to get a duplicate key for my back door at my old house. Very easy duplicate machine. About a twenty minute deal that went well, so there's that. I wish you well. read more
