I lost my truck keys and needed a replacement. I msged CK lock on Yelp and they were prompt and local like 5 miles away from my home. They showed up at 8:26 am. As I was going downstair to get the guy, I asked our building security if they had seen any keys, and they did-they were mine! It was 8:43am when I got this response. I felt bad for the guy and provided him $40 for his time and drive, NOT EVEN 30 mins! He wasn't happy with $40 and demanding $150. Horrible, he tried taking advantage! Not cool! Poor business practices if you ask me. I firmly believe with any business, not actually providing a service all the way through is normal. If they really demand a minimum for no service provided, they should create a contract with a "non refundable deposit". Hope this helps someone. ****Adding this... One star because zero stars isn't an option. I called Friday to try to hire Ami to program a replacement remote for my car. He said to come in Monday before 4p and call before I come over. I confirmed this via text and he agreed via text. I called at 2p on Monday before heading over, but Ami said he was gone for the day already on a remote job elsewhere - and that "I wish you had called earlier in the day." That's not what he had asked me to do. I reminded him that he had asked me to call before I came over, which I did, but agreed to reschedule for Wednesday. He asked me to confirm via text that I'd come to his shop Wed., which I did. Again, he agreed via text. So today (Wed) I get to his shop by the appointed time - and Ami is not there. His asst. calls his cell - and not only is Ami out on another job - he won't be back for another hour! First, Ami says it's my fault because I was supposed to be there yesterday. I said no. Then he says it's my fault because I was supposed to text him before coming. Again, no. We had an agreement IN WRITING that said otherwise. Good grief. JUST ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG. Shame on you for not only wasting an hour of my work day to drive back and forth to your shop, but then trying to blame me for your calendaring problems. I'm attaching screenshots of our texts so maybe now you'll actually look at them. If you had looked at them this morning, maybe everyone else who is considering hiring you wouldn't be looking at them now. I had Ck Locksmith come out to my place to repair a sliding glass door lock. Instead of repairing the existing lock/handle which was fairly pretty, they replaced it with a standard Home Depot lock handle. The handle must have been wood, because they spray painted the handle after they installed it to match the existing hardware but got paint on the glass and the wall. I wasn't home when they did the repair, so paid them before noticing the job. I decided not to worry about it at the time since we were moving out but after a few days/week the lock no longer worked. I have tried reaching out tot hem for over a month to have them come out and fix the lock, so far no one has come out. They keep promising to send someone over or to even call me back and so far no one has called. I paid $300 for the job and am very disappointed. I just want someone to come out and fix the lock. read more

While entering our (out of town) tenant's home to fix the air conditioner, my only key broke off in the lock. It was already 93 degrees on what promised to be a 100 degree day and the air conditioner repairmen had been working on the roof and needed access to the house. Patrick of CK Lock to the rescue! He was there in less than 30 minutes. He assessed the problem, removed the broken key and opened the house. He then proceeded to make pristine new keys that matched the pre-existing lock. The other company quoted me $780, Plus service fee plus traveling fee. CK locks quoted me $300. And a minor cost for six keys. Excellent! Finished in about one hour. I needed a locksmith to do a rekey late at night as my keys had been stolen and I needed my house secured asap. I hesitate to refer to this company or the guy he sent out as locksmiths at all. Just because you can work on a lock that doesnt make you a locksmith. What happened to me proves as much. The first clue there was something strange going on is when the person who answered the phone at this "24 hour locksmith" asked me to call him back on his "personal line" when I called that number I was told to text my address to that number and that his tech would be back with me within the hour. This was at 11:30 at night. When the tech got to my house at 2:30 am (after I had to call him back to get him there) he tells me a price of $130 per lock to rekey the 4 deadbolts I wanted rekeyed. This was after having been quoted $25 each by the first guy for the rekeying, classic bait and switch. Being tired and now annoyed I told him to just do the job so I could go to bed. He proceeded to take my deadbolts off the doors and took them to his vehicle to rekey which he said would "take awhile". He came back in about 10 minutes telling me this was the fastest rekey he had ever done before telling me the bill was $600.!! In the state of California all persons working as locksmiths are required to be licensed and if. doing jobs over $500 they must also have a contractors license, the numbers of both are required to be on any invoice and any business card as well as displayed on the vehicle used by the "locksmith". None of which the guy had. Due to feeling uncomfortable about the job that was done, I had the deadbolts rekeyed by a licensed locksmith who told me the job should have cost no more than $ 250-300 even at that late hour, and as an added bonus he told me that the key cutting he rekeyed my locks to - 55452 was an extremely poor choice as it makes the lock more vulnerable to picking. Using the proper way of rekeying you put deep cuts next to shallow cuts using an odd, even, odd or even, odd, even pattern, such as 58361 (which is what the licensed locksmith did). So the guy that came out didnt even know what he was doing and charged me more than a licensed locksmith would have, or he knew that the way he did it was not the best way and did it like that on purpose, neither of which speaks highly of the "locksmith" or the locksmith that sent him out. Bottom line avoid this locksmith and those he sends out as they are engaging in a known and illegal business practice, using google adsense to get themselves listed high in the search results, and employing unlicensed hacks with little to no way to hold them accountable should something go wrong, a proper locksmith will have (because its the law) his license number on his invoices and vehicle and if doing a job over 500 his contractors license number will be on those things as well. I resent having to pay "some guy who isnt a locksmith" double what an actual licensed locksmith would (and did) have charged me and still had have to have the locks rekeyed because of the poor job done. (The guy also filed down the pins in one of the locks for some reason and re keyed them all the same When i specifically requested he key them differently) Preying on peoples lack of knowledge using deception and scare tactics and lying to them is the type of service you may get from this company which presents itself as a "locksmith" and in the long run will cost you more money for the annoyance of being ripped off than the quality of the work justifies. read more

I lost my ignition key, and had an old key for my car that I knew didn't work because the computer had been replaced. But I had heard that keys could be reprogrammed. Patrick was great. He had to cycle through many US codes and didn't find one that worked. He then realized that the auto shop that replaced my computer may have put in a foreign computer.
