This review is for Valentino (oh geeze, I hope I'm spelling that right?). I have double "high" nostril piercing and lost one of my rings the other day. I was able to come in and buy some new (very pretty) new jewelry and he inserted them for me. He was super kind and professional and knowledgeable. Before I left I told him how I didn't really feel like my piercings were "high" nostrils like I wanted them to be, and that the original piercer (someone in Oregon) didn't do a very good job. He agreed that they were not technically high enough to be considered high nostrils, but informed me that I have the correct anatomy to still get them done! Along with space for some more nostril piercings. Additionally, my BF got his second set of ear piercings and his septum done here with Valentino (I'm so fking sorry I don't think that's how it's spelled) and had a great experience and is very happy with his piercings, especially since his septum was a little trickier to pierce than normal. Had a nostril pierced in April of 2023, then went back after it had healed for a shorter stud. Went in about 20 minutes before closing without an appointment. I was treated like a VIP, offered not only just a new back for my existing jewelry, but they also swapped it for me and cleaned my jewelry. A painless, inexpensive and fast solution. read more

I understand times are difficult, and booking is nearly impossible. But i called and tried to get a consultation for a tattoo. I was able to text an artist but he never made any real effort for setting up a consultation appointment. I expressed to the artist that i understand the demand for tattoos and told him to not feel any pressure to see me as i was hoping it would relief some pressure on him for he is a high demand artist. Haven't heard from him for about a month in a half ,for just consultation. My sister is able to get same day appointments with him . It is really unfortunate because primal has amazing artist and they have to rewards to show but as for reliability. I wouldnt trust that the appointment is going to happen. I bought beautiful septum jewlery here a few years back that had now dulled and they offered to reanodize it to bring it back to life. Which I didn't realize was possible! What a great solution instead having to buy a whole new piece! I got my first piercing and help getting jewlery back in here last week by Valente. I was initially kinda nervous about the placement when I got home. I called and they could fix it now problem once it had healed. They were so nice about it. Once, the swelling went down (which was insanely minimal for cartilage piercing) I realized it was totally fine. ‍ and felt silly! This is the only place my Humboldt friends would go for piercing and tattoos. Everywhere else I've seen in Humboldt is for high school kids rebelling against mom, or grizzled Vietnam vets with American flag and eagle tattoos. Jason and Jason are experienced, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They're VERY clean and they're skilled at what they do. I've accompanied several friends here for piercings as well as ink. I got my tongue done here after my previous tongue piercing went bad. It was SUCH a better experience with Jason. Unlike the 1st time, it didn't hurt hardly at all, and it healed much faster and cleaner. They only carry the highest quality jewelery, and took time to explain to me the advantages of having jewelery with threading on the ball instead of on the bar. I even scored a really nice glass pipe when Jason was learning to blow glass. It had a bubble in it so he gave it to me for free. Said I could have it and enjoy it until it breaks. That was 9 years ago. It's still my favorite pipe. They also have one of the coolest waiting rooms I've ever seen. They're great for piercings and the jewelry they sell in store don't get me wrong.. but NEVER make a special order. As soon as they had to communicate with anyone outside of their store (I needed a custom pure gold barbell) they're incompetent, don't communicate, and didn't even get my call back number right bc the lady I talked to had incoherent hand writing. She admitted to me when I HAD TO CALL BACK that she misread a zero as a 6. Not to mention this was a Christmas gift. I bought a $300 gift card to cover the "price" only to find out that she quoted me $100 less than it would actually cost. Didn't even bother to check before taking my money. I have never in my life written a review, positive or not. But they should not be getting away with this awful service. Whoever I talked to on the phone, I hope you get fired. read more

Primal Decor is the only place I go to for piercings in Humboldt County. They recently were remodeled so everything is even more clean and organized. Everyone that works here is very professional, nice, and accommodating. I've been pierced on three different trips within the past year and a half, and every one of my piercings has healed very well. The folks at Primal are very concerned about cleanliness and maintaining a sterile environment. They are also very serious about their art. Every piercing I have had done, the piercer is extremely attentive to making sure it will come out the best way possible and with the least amount of pain. Jennifer pierced me for my last piercing about a week ago. I got my lower belly button done with a friend. She pierced me, put the jewelry in, and then we realized my jewelry was slightly off center. She decided that she wouldn't be happy with her work if we couldn't try again, and so she convinced me to give it another go and this time we did it again and made sure it was right. I was very happy she talked me into it because it was only a little more pain for 100% happiness. She also charged me half price for the piercing part because of the little oops. This is by far the best piercing place around! The owner Is super cute and sweet, wears only purple gloves and decorates her rooms with such detail and care. I went to get a repierced filtrum because mine got infected from an irritation and I had to remove the piercing. They walked me through rows of options of beautiful jewelry I could get pierced with and they recommended trying to open the piercing instead of a repierce. The reopen didnt work since I had accumulated scar tissue inside the lip so she gently repierced it and I have to say that it hurt much less than the first time! Was very impressed with the customer service presence if Valencio (?) and the cleanliness of the entire place. Plus/// they have the greatest selection of jewelry ive ever seen. My over all experience consisted of poor customer service. The person at the counter seemed nothing but irritated, almost inconvenienced, and strangely averted to body parts. They made it incredibly difficult to get what I needed. On top of all of the difficultly and unwillingness to help their prices were ridiculously high. Dan was my tattoo artist, and did a great job of taking this picture I found online of Trinidad and turning it into a true piece of art that I'm proud to rock on my arm. He knows what he's doing and can take what you have in mind and actually make it come to life. Couldn't have asked for much of a better experience; the shops been incredibly clean both times I've gone in, and every person working there has always been really cool and helpful. Valente, one of the other artists, even came to talk to us while Dan was working on me and was awesome to talk to while trying to distract myself from the pain. This was my first tattoo, and I can honestly say I never once felt uncomfortable or had any qualms the whole time in this shop, which says something about the environment they keep and the people that work here. I came in with two of my friends who were both getting tattoos from Paige. As soon as we came in through the door, I was really impressed at how immaculate the shop looked. They have a lot of neat props around the shop that will entertain you as you're waiting to get tatted/for your friends to finish. What really made this experience special was just how amazing Paige was. Throughout the session, she kept asking my friends if they were doing okay and if they needed anything. She genuinely wants to make sure that you're as comfortable as possible. She also shared her knowledge about the needles and, unlike other shops I have been to, it didn't come off as pretentious at all. You can tell that she really loves what she does. super unfriendly, I bought the only nose stud type they had available which was not even the standard size then made me buy the insertion bar. One thing led to another and I couldn't even get the insertion bar into my nose due to it being to big. I then went to return the unopened jewelry within 10 minutes of purchasing and they wouldn't except it due to their return policy that I was not informed about. That would have been annoying but not a huge issue if the person at the front desk wasn't rude about it. I wouldn't recommend buying their overpriced jewelry for a simple nose stud for over $40 that you cannot return even unused when when other places are selling the same quality of product for a fraction of the price. read more
