I discovered this gem on a recent visit to South Carolina and I think I'm in love. I had never heard of Price's BBQ and if it weren't for my brother recommending it, I may never have come across it. Be aware, you don't just happen past Price's (in Gilbert, SC), you literally have to make an effort to go there. But it is well worth the effort. I grew up in Lexington, but have since moved away. On a recent visit home, I brought my youngest daughter with me to introduce her to the place that her father grew up. I wanted to have her experience the sights, sounds and flavors of my hometown. Price's BBQ is NOT a large joint. However, the food that they serve is absolutely fantastic. I would recommend Price's BBQ to anyone that has the urge for down-home country cooking served as an all-u-can-eat buffet. This is absolutely your spot. Price's BBQ is family owned and operated - I can only assume it is by the Price family. I was impressed with the quality and quantity of entrees and desserts. Both were excellent. Note: this is a home style restaurant and if you're thinking/expecting it to be like a Ryan's or Golden Corral, you are in for a completely different experience. We ordered a to go plate and ended up throwing the plate away after trying a bite of each thing. The bbq was edible. The hash and rice was the worst we have ever tasted. Fried okra was from a frozen food service and I'm pretty sure the potato salad was from a food service as well. read more

My husband and I went in at 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. They had fish. They had no fried chicken, and everyone was complaining. They did not cook any more . And it's SALTY. What happened? The service was slow, I had to get our drinks, nobody else was doing anything. I was furious because it's 6 pm. You only have a buffet and it's limited. The squash and okra are like chewing on a greasy salt block. You need to look closely at the front of house people. I see 1 lady , short, probably 40, fixing plates, answering the phone, cashing out people and getting tea. There's 2 other females in there that walk around and do nothing. I have watched for the last 6 months. Keep shorty, but you really need to get the other two to stop talking and start working. read more

Went here with the family on Saturday, we had dinner. The dinner hours are 4: 00p to 7: 00p which is closing. The price is $14 per adult they offer drinks that are included but it's only iced tea and lemonade they may also have fruit punch they charge extra if you want soda. The place was very clean and the staff was extremely pleasant. Unfortunately that was the best part the buffet. It was extremely small. I would not classify it as a dinner buffet but more as a quick bite to eat or like a roadside stand. It was like if somebody wheeled a small cart out of the kitchen with maybe eight or so different foods that were on it. Here is a list of things that they have the night we went catfish, green beans, hash, Black eyed peas, mustard base pulled pork, hush puppies, fried squash, fried Chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, white rice, dinner rolls they might have had one or two more things on there. For dessert they only had banana pudding which tasted like vanilla pudding and they added the banana and wafers to it. Yes also they had pieces of pie which they will charge you three in change EACH SLICE on top of your regular price when you enter. All of the food seemed have tasted like it was frozen not much taste to it pretty much all neutral nothing really stood out. My recommendations to this place would be charge one price for everything and have more selection they are on the right path with having a excellent staff and a clean place. They just need to have more selection and better quality food unfortunately I would not recommend this place (At this time). read more

I want all to know that I am sober The waitress at the bbq joint was selling this on the side. She brought it into to work and made it at home last night Perfectly moist vanilla pound cake. Cooked so well that the crust holds the sweetness and has no tartness from Burning but is still crispy. She used cream cheese base in her frosting but the ratio of sugar has again offset the tartness that is traditional in this base. She also mixed it so well is smooth and fluffy like a buttercream. Located less than a mile off the Gilbert shores of Lake Murray, this hidden treasure is an oasis in the desert that is this part of the world. Since 1964, the Price family has been serving up some of the best Lexington County BBQ and sides that you can find. Unfortunately, I only found this gem in my 20s and only had 5 years to eat here until I left Columbia. Good for me, my folks live down the road and we visit when we are back. The setting: unassuming but clean. Tile floors, tables and chairs, and a small buffet of hot food and a smaller one of cold. Tea and Lemonade to drink. The service: perfect. It is an all you can eat buffet, so your server is mainly clearing your plate(s) and filling your tea. But they're super friendly. Food: Mustard bbq with multiple veggies which do change from time to time. Fried chicken, fish, shrimp (Friday night). Cold bar with various salads, coleslaw, banana pudding. Don't miss the last part. This is the heart of the Lexington county mustard belt. Maybe I should say the buckle. But you get my drift. This is the premier restaurant. Veggies: today they had green beans, collards, potato casserole, yams, fried okra, stewed tomatoes, Mac and cheese (is a vegetable...). You'll find fried squash at night, baby Lima's, and many other things to try depending when you come. Dessert: banana pudding (included) or some of the best homemade cake you can find (sold by the slice). Having a picky special needs son, I always appreciate that they let me bring outside food for him and refuse to ever charge me for a drink for him. We try to sit out of the way as he likes to dance and eat a bit...our server joined in for a twirl with him today as did a Lexington County Deputy eating. I visited with a large group. The place was packed. Why ??? Because it's good, or great for that matter. The Buffett was small but sufficient. Mostly country cooking on the Buffett, with beans, yams, mac and cheese and similar. The fried chicken was hot and juicy. Ocra was awesome as well as mac and cheese. I ate lunch today at Price's BBQ. The restaurant has a Gilbert address, but, it's near Lake Murray and just outside Lexington, South Carolina off U.S. Highway 378. The barbeque pork and hash were excellent! Lunch today was only $8. I also enjoyed fried okra, beans, salad and macaroni and cheese. They are open Thursday - Saturday for lunch and dinner and a big lunch on Sunday. I decided to eat here today after seeing the restaurant listed among the best barbeque restaurants in South Carolina. Not so much a review. Just saw this on cooking channel and it looked really good. But, they should NEVER cook on galvanized metal or chicken wire! The zinc in the coating will vaporize at low temps and is toxic to breath and leches into the meat! Just saying. read more

paid olmost forty dollars on evening for several BBQ baskets and took them to the lake to open and they had way to much sauce and they were ruined. We could not even eat them. I called and told an employee about the problelm and she sad there was nothing they could do. I told her it was a lot of money to lose. and until this event.
