a parking lot with cars parked in front of it

Looks like a pretty decent grocery store, I'm from out of town so this is what was near. Seem clean, organized. The cashiers were super friendly. I only found one cart sitting in the middle of the parking lot, the rest made it to the corral. (Abandoned carts in the parking lot is one of my pet peeves). It's not familiar to me like Kroger, Food Lion or Publix, but I came, I saw, I bought and I left. All good.

In 2001, I attended an industry convention in St. Louis. There were 300+ people there. We had a very nice catered reception party off site at one of the museums. I distinctly remember a large sushi display that greeted the guests when they walked in. I remember hearing the following remarks: "Yuck what is that?". "Is that sushi? Oh gross!". "Ewww isn't that raw fish? That's disgusting!". Fast forward to the present, a scant 13 years later, and look at how fast our culture has changed. You simply cannot walk into any supermarket in Connecticut and not be greeted by a sushi display. More often than not, there is a Sushi Master on site crafting the delicacies in front of you. Price Chopper in Windsor has a Sushi Department manned by a real life Sushi Chef. He whips up these tasty morsels of fish and rice and veggies in front of you. I've had lunch here dozens of times and have enjoyed the variety and quality every time. They have quite a nice selection of sushi and dumplings. I had lunch here today and paid $8.99 for 6 pieces of shrimp tempura and 8 pieces of spicy shrimp. It was fresh, delicious, and the spicy shrimp was pleasingly spicy. Yay, I am most definitely a fan.

When wanting to grab a quick dinner the sushi roll was okay. Nothing special; heavy on the brown rice and roll a little tough. Such an incredibly small smear of wasabi. Next time will order to go from my regular place. Overpriced for the quality.

Combined a couple sushi dinners to make a dinner for two :)

Oi. I cannot tell you how much money I have spent on this sushi over the years. I snag dinner from the sushi bar here at least once a week. The chefs are super friendly, and the sushi is always, ALWAYS, fresh and quality, and affordable! They're also making for Geisslers now, at least in Granby! I hope they never leave.

But last night we ran some errands in Windsor and decided to shop at the Windsor Stop & Shop off the Kennedy Rd exit on I-91. In many respects, it's an identical twin to the Stop & Shop in Simsbury - produce to the left, meats in the back, dairy and eggs in the right rear corner, frozen stuff on the right, and bakery at the right front. It had the marked down produce rack we love to scour, but this one was really hard to find, hidden behind a small wall by the deli counter. We're making Beer Can Chicken on the grill tonight, and we bought a nice whole chicken at a good price, plus some corn and zucchinis. I have to put in a plug for a fabulous frozen treat we have seen at both Stop and Shops (not sure who else sells them). There is a line of frozen milk & fruit bars made by Fruttare that are absolutely amazing. Lots of flavors, but I defy you to chow on a better tasting 120 calorie dessert than their Banana and Milk bar. I posted a pic. The store was neat, well stocked, and had some nice people up front. I'd go here any time.

Like any other supermarkets, you need to shop sales, although produce is usually fresh and sale prices very good. But, actually, this review is mainly regarding the lunchtime steam table. During weekdays, it's usually available from just prior to 11A until about 1:15 P. Pay by the pound ($9.99). Huge variety, including items like zucchini fries, eggplant fries, fried pickle chips, yada yada yada. Pot roast and roast turkey appear regularly, as do various style wings and tenders, a fish entree (or two), and an Italian entree. It got to the point earlier this year, that I was visiting several times a week. So, no lie, I actually gave up the Geissler's steam table FOR LENT, FOR CRIPES SAKE!!! It was difficult, but I managed to do it. Not sure if all 7 G's locations offer similar steam tables. Thankfully, Warehouse Point does. BTW, right after Lent ended, I think I got about a lb of food... 5 steamy stars

One of the professional organizations I belong to is holding a collection drive for baby supplies…read moreand baby food for next week's meeting. I have passed this supermarket just about every day for five years and never stopped in until today, hoping to buy some reasonably priced baby food. Well, too bad, they don't carry baby food... So what do they carry? A pretty big produce section, meat department, and frozen foods section. The rest of the aisles are loosely organized into product categories like cereal or international foods. Not a real big selection here, it's a discount grocer, with more of an Aldi-like selection than a Stop & Shop selection. I ended up buying a box of frozen breakfast wraps (8 for $2.99), a Starbucks Energy Drink for $1.49, and a 12 ounce bottle of Goya Hot Sauce for $1.69. I'm not a pricing wizard, but these prices seemed OK to me. I did get charged a nickel deposit on the SBux drink, so I looked all over the can and saw no trace that it should have been a returnable, so either it was rung up in error or my eyes are getting worse. The store was neat and clean, the aisles were spacious, and at 5:00 on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. So when I checked out, the cashier asked "Do you want a bag?". I said "yes" so she put a plastic bag on the belt next to my stuff. Didn't put my stuff in the bag, just gave me a bag, and charged me a nickel. I have to say a word about the parking lot in this plaza. It has the absolute worst and inconsiderate drivers I have ever seen. If you like folks backing up at you 100 MPH to claim a parking spot you are almost in, accompanied by a horn serenade, this is the place. I almost got hit exiting by some inattentive or rude as*hole barreling down the aisle at a high rate of speed. All in all, this place has too many weird things about it to make me wanna go back.
