I went to the meat department manager and asked him if he could order Kayem red hotdogs, since…read morethere are none in stock. The store carries Kayem hotdog products in other flavors, so I thought this would be an easy request. Backstory.... Red hot dogs are a big thing in Maine, with Jordan's red hot dogs the most popular finding Jordan's brand in Connecticut is really hard. So I'm thinking Kayem has Red as an available item, but not carried as a regular stock item, this would be something not impossible for the meat manager to order. What could possibly go wrong! Without the meat manager/order placer saying he would first check with his supplier, he just answered no, and didn't even suggest what other stores I could possibly purchase or an alternative suggestion. I would think it would be pretty easy to just ask your distributor, especially since you are a big seller of their product. And I think Kayem would gladly supply Big Y with their request. I am quite disappointed with the way this was handled. Stop & Shop is just up the street. I think I'll start spending my hard earned money there Maybe Geisler's or Fitzgerald's can order them for me And a few days later... Walmart in East Windsor had Jordons Red Hot Dogs! I bought 5 pounds of them!

This is not on the same level as my all-time favorite fried seafood restaurant, Lenny and Joes, but it's also less than a mile from my house and not an hour down to the coastline. Overall, I think that this is a very good fried seafood plate. There are ample fried shrimp, fried scallops, and fried white fish. The batter is light and not greasy. The fries and onion rings are really very good. It also comes with plenty of tartar sauce and ketchup. The Captain's Combo is $25, the bit smaller version is $18, both a good value and delicious for the price! Go to the seafood department at Big Y, takes about 15 minutes to get the take out.

I got a few things for the holidays, including a few stocking stuffers! There were many workers running around making sure the store was stocked. I saw a worker ask a lady if she wanted him to get her a basket because he could see she couldn't hold everything. She was very thankful. I thought the prices were pretty fair too. The store was very busy. I wish that the isles were a little wider. It's not a huge store, but it was crowded, which made it hard to move around. There were many cashiers, so I was able to check right out. I look forward to going back.
