I'm pretty sure it's illegal to overcharge people for something and refuse to refund the money, but that's what happened. The self checkout has a quirk where if you put your first item on the scanner, it rings it up and then brings up a window that says "no cash accepted at this register, okay to continue?" When you hit yes, the item sitting on the scanner rings up again. I did not notice until I was on my way out to the car. I returned and asked the person monitoring the self-checkout for a refund and was told no. The one person who has the power to do refunds had just left on break, and my only option was to stand around for 30 minutes waiting for them. This is terrible customer service. I only saw three employees in the entire store, including a cashier and the person at self checkout. Either management is so miserable no one will work for them, or they are losing massive amounts of business to their competition and can't afford help. The parking lot had very few cars for a Tuesday at 4 p.m. and the whole atmosphere was that of a dying store. There are better options for grocery shopping in Keene. read more

Worst grocery store in Keene. Inflated prices, averaging 30% more than all other local stores. Produce department on Sat Feb 8,2025 was depleted of everything I went looking for. 1 Jalapeno pepper. One bunch of wilted cilantro, that looks like it had been reduced from a larger bunch. There were maybe 10 stems on it. The only reason this store manages to stay open is because it has a parent company (that apparently does not care if this store is in such a SAD shape). If their competition is ALDI's, Price chopper loses in a landslide race. The produce manager needs to be fired. The Store Manager needs to be let go. Probably the district manager as well. I don't know if this store can be saved. I don't normally write reviews, but this experience is deserving of this. One star only because it is required. read more

Shopped there Sunday June 2nd. Store was not busy, so I was trying to hustle through, get my stuff and get out. 3 employees were standing at the end of an aisle, completely blocking it, just yaking away. would not move so I could get through, just gave me a blank stare. I had to go all the way around to the other end. When it was time to check out, the only registers open were self checkout. I needed assistance as I had alcohol, the person supposedly manning the self checkouts- also one of the people blocking the aisle- was over talking to the person at the service desk. I hit the call attendant button 5 times, the person at the service desk pointed out that I was waiting, she just shrugged and kept talking. I finally yelled over, HEY can you help me. she was so rude and took her sweet time. The only time they do anything to help is when they want you to fill out a survey. read more

Went shopping on 6/17 /23 around 1:00 pm . Everything was going great. Store was not too busy and the person behind the meat counter was super helpful in getting steaks for fathers day. However when we got to the register everything went completely downhill. We picked a register that was open and started to get everything on the belt. The person who was bagging did a few bags then told the cashier to turn off his light and that he was leaving. Ok thanks I guess we will bag everything, Not a huge deal. When everything was done being scanned we had an issue where the toy dragon my sister had gotten her grandson was missing. The cashier basically did nothing and I had to go get a new one. I figured at this point it was done but the cashier didn't say anything that we can just take that one and be done. When asked where the other dragon was he then decided to accuse my sister and me of stealing. My sister opened her purse then he stated it could be in my jacket so i emptied my pockets. We were beyond livid at this point and asked for a manager. A young woman came over and when my sister asked if she was a manager she just avoided the question. We then had to ask again for a manager to come out. The manager came over and the cashier just started right up skipping over my sister that actually wanted to talk with him . At this point the manager had an attitude and stated that we just need a new green dragon. Like really at this point bigger issues. Will never bother shopping at this price chopper again if this is how they treat customers read more

I'm not sure why there are only 3 stands open and no baggers on a Saturday afternoon before playoffs... been in line for 10 minutes with only 2 people in front of me. Produce section is tiny, but the prices seem to be average, maybe slightly lower, but not worth waiting in line all day. read more

Yesterday before doing our weekly shop, we stopped and ordered Haddock + French Fries x 2. French Fries OK but both Haddocks were dropped in over-heated oil before being cooked too long. I realize that "staff shortages" mean shortage of staff .......... but please teach your fish fryers to get it right. This is the third time that we've got overcooked fish. It won't happen again as we've signed up to Hannafords. read more

As far as grocery stores go, I like this one. It's never super busy, it's easy to get around and the prices are good. Perking isn't bad, the staff is friendly and the selection is nice. Even their beer prices are competitive which you don't see that often. We've stopped here many times over the past few years and never had a bad experience. read more

I shop this store weekly. I know they are sometimes under staffed, but when cashiers are all hanging out by one register chit chatting with each other while only one register is open, something very wrong. Management, if you ever see them are cold and extremely unfriendly to the shoppers. Would think a company would move up customer friendly workers. The management changes frequently, but currently they are not customer friendly at all. The overall quality of the store has gone downhill recently a lot, produce is always putting out items that are spoiled or over ripe...get that crap off the counter. Shelves are not stocked very well anymore, not due to covid, as other stores are fully stocked. Their shelves are rarely faced, leaving short customers like myself to climb the shelf or do without. You employ cashiers who can not make change, and who are not very customer friendly either. Not all, but some. Time to start escorting them to the front door. You do have some super people employed in this store, treat them right and maybe they will stick around. As for your customers, if you were a more friendly place to shop, maybe the store would not be so empty all the time. Time for management to come out into the main store and start paying attention to what goes on. You after all, are the face of Price Chopper...start acting like it. Pros: Great sale items, clean, deli with dining area. Cons: Pricing errors, aloof staff, iffy selection of meat, deli counter & seafood staff have been rude on MANY occasions. Stories: Purchased a dozen lobster for a family event and seafood worker basically told me I would not pick them or the size, but I could "get whatever the hell he felt like". 10 minutes after leaving the store our son left a nice hardcover book in the parking lot so I called the store only to have customer service inform me that the could NOT check for it, and it was the unnamed customer service person break so they hung up the phone on me... A couple of years ago when they were building this Price Chopper, I thought it was stupid. Keene already had Shaws and Hannaford. Why did we need a third large grocery store?!? My mind quickly changed however when Price Chopper opened. Keene's Price Chopper is host to a large fruit and veggie section with a bakery and cheese shop inside, as well as a little sit-down cafe. It also has a florist inside as well as a large selection of wine and beer. It also has the best deals in town on many foods! Every day, there are this huge baskets in the front of the store of "10 for $10" items: large Gatorade's, Campbell's soups, the Lipton noodle packets, marinara sauce, etc! All just for $1 each. And since there's no tax in New Hampshire, you can literally go in, get a Gatorade out of the bin, and walk out having only spent $1. Great deal! I always check these bins first because they usually have stuff that is good to buy and keep around incase you need it. Price Chopper is always my first stop for wine and beer. They have everything you'd need, and it's all cheaper than most grocery stores in the area. They often have specials on wine. I've bought $5 and $6 bottles before, and they were decent. Their wine is split into category by country. But perhaps the BEST thing about Price Chopper is this program they have going now where you use your Price Chopper AdvantEDGE card (free, just ask) and for each $50 you spend, you'll get 10 cents off each gallon of gas you buy at Sunoco gas stations! Right now I'm up to 60 cents off per gallon! Once you fill up using this money you've earned off, it starts again at $0. I think it's a great deal! I think I'm going to work up to 70 cents off per gallon and then fill my car up. That'll save me approx. $8! read more

Salad bar was OK but what I saw in the produce dept had me disgusted! There was a display of nuts in the shell that was being moved apparently, and a nasty grimy section of floor under and around it. Some of the nuts had spilled and the thing I saw was two workers scooping up nuts off the grime of the floor with a piece of cardboard and putting them right back into the pile on the display to be sold. That's gross! I mean, you get pieces of shell in with the nut meat when you crack it to eat it and who washes nuts before eating them? Ugh! I'll never go back there for sure. Called the Store from the parking lot but thy didn't seem to really cae. Just brushed it off with a "I'll go talk to them". In fact I got the impression that it was the manager I talked to who had been one of the ones scooping up the nuts! Hope they don't give anyone any diseases. read more

This store is VERY dirty! The Pharmacy is gone! The shelves are empty and the prices are too expensive and they don't keep up with the bathrooms at all! No toilet paper in any stalls at all! I heard rumors that they were going to close but I do have know. We'll see. read more

Price Chopper is a deadly fire trap after 11PM--You are warned. Price Chopper physically barricades exit doors around 10PM in violation of Keene, State, and National Fire Codes. There are supposed to be occupant activated emergency exit doors. No--they physically lock and then physically barricade the doors. I have complained to on several occasions to managers to no avail. Fires inside non-combustible buildings often do not have much fire but the do often have dense and deadly smoke. This store will lead a panicked customer to an exit only to find it physically blocked and locked. This is inexcusable and Keene Health Inspector--why do you not do something? A great store but be warned, shop here after 10pm and you may die a horrid death here. Note: Hannefords and all other stores that I know of have proper exit doors. C'mon Price Chopper--do you care so little about your customers that you won't spend a few hundred dollars to put alarm activated "after hours" exit doors? Shameful, especially that I have brought this to their attention many times. read more

Terrible service from unfriendly staff. The most recent was standing alone at the fish counter for 10 minutes waiting for the person working there to acknowledge me. Once I finally got his attention and told him what I wanted he wandered off and started cooking something in the deep frier and never returned to get my order. Not unusual for this place. Will not wait on another worker who can't be bothered. Done with this place. The only reason it survives is that its competitors are on the other side of town. In a recent trip to Price Chopper, we bought just three items. Only to find the prices were extremely more expensive than what we would have paid at Market Basket. Before we even made it to the parking lot we decided to turn around to return the items right away. The girl at the service desk was nice enough but could not approve the return without her manager. I don't know her name but a manager came out and was a bit rude as to why we wanted to return the items. She was willing to match MB's pricing but would only match the difference on a gift card, not on the card we used then went back into her office. She was rude to the employee and didn't ask us if we wanted the return on a gift card. We don't shop there on a regular basis so a gift card wasn't what we were looking for as we used a regular bank card. The girl at the counter had to go back and get the rude manager to tell her we wanted it back on the card we used. The manager never came back out and must have just told her to refund us fully. We left there and went to Market Basket and purchased the same items plus 2 more and checked out spending less than we would have for the original 3 items!!! This will be the last time we visit Price Chopper as New York state minimums don't work for us here in New Hampshire!!! read more

Very pricey, but better quality food and more options for products than any other grocery store in town

Last week lobsters were on sale for $5.99 lb. for the 1-1 1/4 size. No mention of the price of the larger lobsters but, from my experience, they go up in price $1-$2 lb. I got a large one and while it was being weighed, I was reading a brochure they had on the seafood counter. I proceeded shopping and when I checked out, I was thinking the groceries cost a lot more than I had expected. I proceeded home and cooked the lobster and when I went to throw the bag out it was in, I noticed the price on the bottom was a whopping $43 for one lobster. The price per pound had jumped a huge $7 a lb. for the larger lobsters. I was appalled at such an outrageous jump in price. It was my fault for not asking the price for the larger lobsters, but I never expected such a ridiculous jump in price. Furthermore, a lot of time I go in for their sale items, they can't be found anywhere. Also, they are the only grocery store I'm aware of that charges a service charge if you want money back on your credit/debit card. Don't think I'll ever go there again. read more
