My wife and I live near Wolf Road and do most of our grocery shopping there, but I like to explore other supermarkets within a short driving distance. Knowing that this was the special "Kosher Price Chopper" we came here on a Saturday afternoon. Despite a bit of snow overnight, the roads were fine at 11AM when we arrived. But the place was deserted. I don't understand it. Like the other P.C. on Central Avenue east of here, this place was large and gorgeous. A huge produce section, lots of prepared foods areas, and wide aisles. But no one was here, staff included. The prepared foods literally had 2 pizzas and lots of open shelves. The deli was tiny. I asked the deli where the olive bar was and got "the olive bar?" as a response. Some produce we can get at Hanafords but we cannot get at either of the two P.C. listed, such as bagged snowpeas. Many of the apples of the type I liked were soft, mealy, or bruised here. The Kosher section was pretty nice with lots of food, though either due to the certification process or the shipment from NYC everything was much more expensive than non-Kosher equivalents. But, if you want to eat strictly Kosher food it was convenient to have everything together. What was disappointing was that the deli was closed (perhaps they were observing the Sabbath), with no staff around. I was hoping to get legitimate Jewish pastrami and couldn't, so I settled on the regular P.C. deli stuff. When I asked up front if the Jewish section was opened on Saturday I was told yet, but that they had called in due to the snow. People say lots of supermarket choices are good for customers. But what good is it to have a really nice store if customers don't shop there, the perpared foods sections are completely empty, and the things I need aren't available? I wasn't looking to switch stores, but this certainly reinforced how good I have it on Wolf Road. read more

Called around 3pm est went through the which department it was regarding process, was never picked up, went to store in person it was busy.I had a question regarding employment and was waiting at customer support shortly. An employee brought a customer to check out there as they had under 10 items and was waiting in long line of people with many items. Zachary was then quick to assist and answer my question. The "Kosher Chopper" is a special place. This is the local Price Chopper market with a dedicated kosher section of the store. When you walk in, it's all the way to the right. For those who are looking for kosher meat, this place is a godsend. Personally, I find the bagels to be just a little bit better here than at any other Price Chopper, but that could be observation error. I've made the schlep for bagels in the past, but these days the Kosher Chopper has become my Passover superstore. Traditionally, they have everything. Well, almost everything. Most importantly, it has the widest selection of kosher for Passover matzoh that I've ever seen. So with Passover on the horizon, I load up my daughter in the car. When we arrive, it looks like there must be a blizzard coming. All the shelves are bare. Okay, there were some boxes of egg matzoh. But who wants egg matzoh? Apparently nobody. Seriously, the place looked like it was ransacked. There wasn't even any gefilte fish to be had. Presumably the Jewish community in the Capital Region didn't double in size from last year, and there are still days until Passover begins! I had feared that my matzoh would have to be bought online and shipped via priority mail. But then, fortunately, another grocery store down the road actually had a few boxes of matzoh for sale. But it's not my preferred brand. L'sigh. Passover is hard enough on its own. To add some lesser matzoh to the mix, is really going to increase my suffering. But maybe that's the point. read more

This was a very nice store it seemed like it had me turned around every witch way because it's not like the store that's close to me but it had everything that I needed and it was clean and it was neat and the people seemed very friendly there who work there and I was even greeted by someone who did not need to help me out over by the bakery and they came out and help me find an item so that I could move on and get out of the store and get on with my day. They were very friendly and very nice I didn't get the gentleman's name but he was an asset to the company for sure. I would definitely recommend this Price Chopper to anyone who is looking for good grocery at a good price it seems to be a decent place to go over all especially in the upstate economy that we have here in New York. Price Chopper - the inside of a grocery store - Florists Near Me - Albany, New York

I did a full shopping expedition here recently, out of my usual pattern of grocery stores, after having a detour into the area on a marketing day. It's a newish, big, and airy, well-lit Price Chopper that I decided to review mostly to note it has a very large, two-aisle kosher section with its own deli, relatively unique for the area. The rest of the store disappoints me the way Price Choppers usually do these days. They *seem* to have lots and lots of things, but what they have is a very limited number of brands and product selections in very large stock quantities on the shelf. For instance, I couldn't find whole wheat hot dog buns - there were only two brands of hot dog buns, period. They didn't have Cholula. The produce (which was looking kind of wilted on a Monday morning) was pretty much the standard fare. Few organic options. I could go on, but it's the standard Price Chopper story these days. I give it a tepid three stars because, it is what it is. And at least this one doesn't have a meat department full of leaky chicken packages, like the one in Niskayuna at Mohawk Commons (which I will never go to again, since on three separate occasions I complained about said chicken juice being all over the meat rack, and they obviously don't care to fix this). read more

I'll regularly hit this Price Chopper at lunchtime. It's close to work, and the salad bar is pretty fresh, especially if you get there between noon and 1:00. If you get there any later than that, you're risking some soggy tomatoes. Their produce section is nice. I love me some honeycrisp apples, and outside of a couple of local orchards, I rarely find better HCs than the ones I get here. They're enormous. It's like eating a delicious, apple-shaped softball. You can get fresh sushi daily, their bakery is good (bagels are always fresh), and if you're there on your lunch break, like I usually am, they've got a decent selection of hot lunch items, too -- pizza, mac & cheese, etc. I usually go for the aforementioned salad bar. One thing this location offers that others don't is a prominent kosher section. They've got a bounty of items -- an entire aisle. Outside of that, this is a pretty standard Price Chopper. You know what to expect. I don't do my grocery shopping here (I'm a Hannaford man), but if I had to choose the best Price Chopper in the area, it'd be the one in Niskayuna at Mohawk Commons or this one. One of the largest Price Choppers in the market, it also has the largest kosher section. There's meat, dairy, baked goods, and packaged good, as well as a prepared foods counter. We were driving by, and decided to stop in for a snack. In front of us was a choice of three knishes, Coney Island Style, Potato, and Kasha. We asked the kind man we the counter which one he would get, and without hesitation he let us know that he would go with the Coney Island one, since he's from downstate. He recommended slicing it in half, putting deli mustard on it, and eating it like a mustard sandwich. We did this, and it was delicious. For $1.78, just can't beat it! read more

I don't come into many Price Chopper locations much, so when I came in here for myself needed a "break" (you get the picture?) and the place I went to didn't have one, I knew of this location. I had been previously in your area before in December 2017, but never stopped in until today's trip. I interacted with an employee during my trip in. I was surprised at just the location of the "break" at the front corner of the market (not like most other supermarkets). I asked where it was, having not seen the sign on the front corner wall, (close to the Market local restaurant) and they responded. It was a little tricky finding someone, but an employee in produce was there to answer. I thank you. The bathroom had been seeing better days. The one stall was dirty with loads of toilet paper shoved all over the seats, and the other stall had a roll of toilet paper stuck to the sides of the cutter of the device while the other side was almost glued-shut. It's amazing just how I got as much toilet paper ready for use this afternoon. I never did mention this to any of the employees, because by the time I came out, there was no one around to mention this TO (all the employees wandered away). I took care of what I had to do, even with the problems I had, and headed back to where I came from. I might be back in time, I just rarely am in Albany and rarely think about this location for shopping (as I generally vulture towards Hannaford or similar.) Learn from the pros. read more

I favor this supermarket mainly of the convenience and pricing. Overall a good product selection and fresh produce. I keep coming back solely because of Joe in the produce department. He is outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable. He always greets me, even from a distance. I like shopping where I feel a personal connection and personalized experience. read more
