There was a lot of it too, especially the meat, this was generous. The two people who served us were both friendly, I think that was their entire staff. It seems to be a family run kind of place. The decor is interesting to look at while you wait. They have signed pictures of a few celebrities on the wall. I'm fairly sure that Bruce Forsyth has never come to Eltham for a kebab though! There is a takeaway part and a large seating area separated from the takeaway. It had a carpeted floor and comfy seats unlike some similar places. It was the classic takeaway meals, but I do remember their burgers were the nicest of anywhere around, and I am yet to find a chippy to rival them; their chips were also gorgeous. The prices were very competitive. especially for the takeaways, and they were generous with the portions they sold/served. I also saw them observing hygeine by washing their hands and keeping raw meat and cheese slices in the cooler. The toilets were rather out of the way, upstairs though, and not so nice to use, hence me giving only 4 stars to this otherwise great establishment. To this day, if I am ever back in the area, I would make a special trip to the Eltham Grill for one of their wonderful cheeseburgers.

They told us that the baguettes are sold out but that they offer sandwiches instead. Sandwiches for 5 Pounds! We got a refund at the end but anyway if you just offer baguettes you should make sure that you have enough of them. We had to wait for ages till we got everything and the quality was poor. I am not a salty eater, but even I had to add salt to my food. There were several guests in a wheelchair when we were there. The manager told one of the guests that they don't have disabled facilities. How can this be when they refurbished everything? Because it was two days after they opened I gave them 2 stars, otherwise it would be one. I will try them in another six month. I hope their service has improved by then. Otherwise, I am sure, there will be a new owner again.

The staff were friendly but slightly devious in this way. When the food arrived, it was worth the wait. Really worth the wait. Beautifully cooked. Desserts were similarly excellent, as was the wine. I think the fact that the restaurant was very busy even on Friday 2nd Jan, just after the Christmas rush when everyone has spent their money, says a lot about the standard of the food and service here.
