Having been to the Cumin club several times before, I was looking forward to a meal and catchup with friends here over the weekend.
The experience this time was shocking sub-par. The waiter had taken my friends order, then asked for mine. I told him my dish, rice and bread choice. He then asked if I wanted any bread having just written it down. He then asked for my friends order again. He repeated this for the next few people at least, going back and asking the same people a second time for their order, with them having to tell him that he had just taken their order.
Then there was the wait. 2 hours we sat drinking, with the occasional offer to take drinks orders. It got to the point that we questioned the drinks waiter about maybe having some food. Which he assured us was on the way.
If it hadn't have been for the fact we were enjoying catching up with each other, we would have walked out. In fact talk had already started turning to where we would go instead.
Then when the food finally arrived the service was chaotic. Not only was I disappointed to be reminded that I had ordered a starter, now so hungry I just wanted my main course, the starter was bland and cold, not what was expected.
After another wait, the mains started to arrive. Now you would think that waiting staff would remember who wanted what, especially as they had it written down. But no, Mr amnesia was back and delivering random dishes calling out the name of the dish and waiting for a response. Having waited over 2 hours I had almost forgotten what I had ordered, and genuinely took me a few moments to realise he was calling out the rice that I had ordered. When he put it down in front of me, his thumb was buried in it. And again when my naan arrived, by which time I had almost finished the rest of my food, his hands were all over that too. I'm sure he had clean hands, at least to begin with, but needless to say it's not pleasant seeing someone's hands violate your food.
The food was at least almost up to standard, maybe a little oilier than usual, but still good.
The Gents toilet door also seems to be having issues closing, so if you're using the urinal anyone walking down the corridor can see you.
Not impressed this time, won't be as excited to return read more
