This restaurant was recommended by my son who suggested we booked it for his birthday, no he's not slow in coming forward where a free meal is in the offing? I must admit that I've haven't heard any bad reviews about this restaurant and after dining there last night I can thoroughly recommend it, the service is unhurried and very polite. They offer a choice from different daily lunch and evening set menus or al carte. I opted for the latter and for the first course I chose Pan Fried Scallops with Minted Pea Puree, Asparagus & White Truffle Oil, which were cooked just right, for my main course I chose the Fillet of Scottish Beef with Cafe de Paris Butter, Vine Cherry Tomatoes & Pont Neuf (Pont Neuf is a bridge in France, but on the plate its thrice fried short chunky chips! Chef's license I suppose) The fillet was cooked to my liking, although the chips (Pont Neuf's) were cooked well, slightly al dente, but I prefer them crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. For dessert I chose Hot Chocolate Fondant with Pistachio Ice Cream & Butterscotch Anglaise, the fondant was overcooked almost resembling a sponge, the pistachio ice cream was delicious and contained a mint leaf concealed within and the mixture of pistachio and mint felt odd, but as they combined with each other your taste buds new told you this was right.
I will be going back if just to try the Coriander Crusted Lamb Rump with Celeriac Puree, Roasted Baby Beetroot, Creamy Dauphinoise & Lamb Jus. read more
