The positives were that the food and coffee were great- though not better than anywhere else in the area (and obviously you should also expect London prices). The cons, at least for my purposes and on that day, were that the wifi was so slow it was unusable. However, the biggest disappointment was how unbelievably rude the staff were. I've worked in customer service for many years and am ALWAYS inclined to give staff the benefit of the doubt because, frankly, I don't really mind if they're not giving A* customer service. I even get angry when people complain about 'bad' customer service because I think they probably just can't empathise with how hard it is. However, there were two blonde women working who literally looked me up and down like I was trash when I asked for the wifi password. They lazily pointed abstractly to the corner of the room without a word of explanation even when it was clear I couldn't see where they were pointing. Eventually, another girl also working in the cafe noticed and had to show me the wifi box and also explain to me that there was a QR code that I needed to scan. Later, I simply asked where the toilet was and again, the same blonde lady looked at me like I was asking whether I could shit where I was standing and said 'upstairs'. I actually laughed. It was horrendously poor service and I am still honestly less angry (because who the fuck really cares about a bad cafe experience) and more perplexed!

Finished off with a hit of caffeine this cafe will do for me! There's nothing fancy or stylish about the place, it's just your typical tea room/cafe environment. They serve good easy food like jacket potatoes but they also offer up some seafood and meat dishes as well that i have yet to try. The prices are good, the service equally good and it's in the centre of town. I have nothing negative to say about this lovely little cafe and neither will you as long as you don't go with high expectations of gourmet food and Michelin star menus.

Decent no thrills cafe with good food and decent coffee!…read more I was pretty hungover after a few too many Gin's on a night out in London and waking up I was craving some bacon, sausage and egg alongside a cup of black coffee to put some life back into me. Mica cafe was just around the corner from where I was staying and it had some decent reviews so I thought I'd give it a go. Staff in there are really friendly and it is a real old school cafe but the quality isn't compromised. I had a bacon, sausage and egg baguette and a black coffee (just as I'd wanted ;-)) and it was great. Affordable pricing too as that cost me about £6. Great spot.

First we got a couple of delis and a couple of the local spit and sawdust boozers metaphorically cut their hair and had a wash. Then the little odd independent boutiques started to open... a newer sort of person started queuing outside the exceptional but resolutely local butcher William Rose, an ernest sort of person, a fleece wrapped, rugby shirt, sensible shoe wearing broadsheet reader who "really wanted to stay West, but when we started thinking about the kids it was either move here, or move out of London". And they demanded places to eat, and places to shop, and places to drink, with other similar spirits and their Bugaboo prams filled with flaxen haired organic, free range children. And then in one dreadful year, they opened The White Company, Oliver Bonas and Foxtons. The Richmondification of East Dulwich was almost complete. This isn't a teary eyed pean to a stalwart of the retail community deemed unsuitable for little Jemimahs and Jacobs, closed and turned into a high-class cheese shop, this is just to prepare you for the people who occupy the Blue Mountain Cafe on Northcross Road, ground zero of the yummy mummy. It's twee. By which I mean reclaimed oak furniture and country cottage chic, and mismatching, and quirky, some of those things deliberately. They have set spaces for the prams and pushchairs - woe betide anyone trying to get a table here from 10.30 on a weekday. It defines the term mother's meeting. The food is well sourced and relatively well prepared, certainly freshly prepared. Their Full Monty breakfasts certainly are a thing of beauty, sourced and prepared by someone who really cares about what they're putting out. The sausages and bacon, from the aformentioned William Rose, are solid meaty protein torpedos. There's a decent pile of buttery mushrooms and a frankly enormous heap of beans. Perfectly poached eggs top thick slabs of brown toast. A substantial load, more suited for a trucker's cafe than a genteel suburb.
