In fact, I was lured to take the ferry across the sound just to check out this store again, a month later. My first time visit, I walked passed this store not thinking much. I thought everything might be really expensive since all the stores in the area were pretty pricey. I had just come out of a store just across the street that sold a dress for $150. I didn't think anything in this little town had affordable things. Boy I was wrong. I stopped to look at the clothing rack outside and found this beautiful classy dress for only $20. It was for sale and it was just beautiful. It was like a dress you would find at anthropologie or a high end boutique. It was the perfect dress that I had been looking for the last week since I had a special event. Inside the store, they had an assortment of clothing, wonderful smelling perfume, and accessories. My friends bought perfume and hair accessories. I ended up buying this wonderful dress. I kept thinking about how I loved this store's collection/style of clothing and affordable prices that I decided to drag my husband to come to Bainbridge Island again the next week! I found another dress upon my second visit for $35. Not bad for a high quality and beautifully designed dress :) I was kind of sad because the store had signs stating that the owner was retiring and that was why their stuff was heavily discounted. Their selection had whittled down since the last time I was there. I highly recommend coming to this store before it closes! I wish I could stay opened!

If you are looking for a more minimalist design focused plant shop, Glasswing is for you. However,…read morethere is one caveat that I will get to later. The store layout is great because it creates a very intuitive shopping experience. Not that you will be on your own because the staff here are great at making a quick intro and answering any questions you have and leaving you alone if you are just browsing or taking your time to make a decision. Also, Glasswing always seems to have a plant expert on hand to answer any of your questions and if they don't they will reach out to someone at their sister store down the street. We've been very happy with all of our purchases here. All the plants have been super healthy and looked much better than the same plant from other places we looked. I will say, however, you pay for this perfection, which for me is worth it.

We bought a candle and a hanging plant- it is growing out of a moss covered log- so unique and beautiful. We were patiently taught how to care for it. I will be back soon. There's a mini pineapple plant with my name on it!

I had a truly terrible experience at this store that still bothers me to this day…read more I liked this store because it was basically on my doorstep, and it had a good selection of cards. After patronizing this place for a while, I was asked not to come back to this store. Naturally I was curious as to why they would do this to a repeat customer. I was told that I had made an employee uncomfortable- by flirting with them!! I was gobsmacked as to why anyone would think that. I'm a talker- I talk to everyone I meet the same way, but this person thought I was flirting with them. Perhaps they have too much main character energy to think that. Perhaps they found my chattiness annoying- not everyone is going to be delighted by me- but why, WHY would they not just tell me they were busy and couldn't talk? Did they feel they were being held hostage? I saw Standard Goods as a neighborhood spot. Keep in mind I wasn't camping out at the store; I'd say my average visit was -20 minutes, and I wasn't there frequently. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm forced to consider the possibility they felt ill at ease around me due to my disablity- I'm legally blind and my eyes look different, some people aren't comfortable with that that's their problem. Even if that's not the case, it still really hurt when they asked me not to come back. What is this, high school? Yes, I cried. They made me feel like my presence was a nuisanc. It left an impact. question whether people want me around. There were so many other ways they could have dealt with it and at the same time keep in mind that I was a customer with feelings. I get the distinct sense that they don't care about customers or the community. It's good for managers to take their employees' concerns seriously- Just not like this. Maybe they are extremely nonconfrontational, yet there must have been another way to addrss this without banning me from the store.

They have other locations in the area but this particular one on Capitol Hill is the most convenient for me. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They have apparel, pins, stickers, and other fun gifts. I caught the 49 bus from downtown but the 10 and 12 were an option too. I just took whichever bus came first. Sure, I could have walked up the hill but I didn't want to get all sweaty.
