I went into this salon with my nervousness and I'm sure it showed, however; every single person in the salon (even customers!) approached me and admired my hair. Everyone was all smiles, and showered me in compliments. My nervousness went away instantly. Jessie was my stylist, and by gosh she was absolutely amazing. Every single step, she talked me through what she was doing and constantly asking if I liked how it was going. I was nearly in tears the entire time! She was so kind, sweet, and very very considerate of how *I* was feeling about my hair. When the cut was finished all the wonderful ladies at Sunset Styling were smiling and could not stop telling me how cute I was. It was an experience I have never felt before, just 100% acceptance. I can't even begin to thank Jessie and the staff of Sunset Styling enough for making this hair cut simply wonderful and not scary at all. Any fear I had of getting my hair cut is completely gone and I honestly can't wait to find another reason to stop in this salon. I think I was in a state of shock, but I should have simply left the minute I felt that "ick" -factor. I tried calling the studio several times, but there's no email and I was unable to reach anyone yet to share concerns/suggestions. 1. Didn't feel covid-safe place, no COVID-19 waiver, poor fitting mask wearing, no partitions, no air purifier, etc. I didn't see new products being removed from packaging, rather several appeared reused... like buffers etc. 2. In the beginning of my session I mentioned that I am a nurse and that my mother had COVID-19- was desperately ill for 3 months. I felt individual doing my manicure-pedicure and I were having a nice conversation about the healing arts, reiki, alternative therapies, which I support. I was again, trying to give this experience and this person a chance. Moments later I get asked "how freaked out are you about this COVID-19 thing?" Well since I almost lost a family member and have seen devastation all around, I guess I think it's terrible!? I am paraphrasing, but this felt so out of touch and so inappropriate for what's otherwise supposed to be a relaxing, healing service. Then I am lectured to by how it's "mother earth's way of controlling the population and weeding people out." So was mother earth trying to kill my mother too? What about my friends who've lost nearly all of their family, people dying all over... my patients!? I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt, I am certain this is a nice person who means well, but this experience was wrong on so many levels. I will never return and I wish I passed up the entire experience.

The salon is very dark. When she was done with my hair, looked darker than I asked for but since it was dark in the salon, I decided not to say anything in front of her new client. I thought it would be better to check it out at home. She was eager to set up a new appointment but I made an excuse so I could evaluate this very expensive hair coloring. My bill with tip was $365.88. I got home and checked my hair in every light in my house. It was much darker than it was when I went in which is not at all what I asked. I asked for an icy blonde and not a brunette. I messaged her, told her I would not make another appointment and said my hair was much darker than it was before I went in. She recommended purple shampoo to help correct her mistake. I would have to spend money to fix it but this is also the same shampoo she told me while she was doing my hair that she wouldn't recommend it for my hair type (I have been told in the past not to use it). She offered to redo it for free but at this point, I lost any ounce of confidence in her. Her mistake, her bad recommendation (other colorists agree) etc. I then asked for my tip back because she truly did not deserve a penny of it. She decided to ignore me after I asked. After she ignored me, I decided to comment on her post, the one I saw to make an appointment. I stated the above with pictures. Within 5-10 minutes (not at all exaggerating) she deleted the post. She decided to post in a local private group of all beauticians etc. in kitsap and she told everyone if I made an appointment to fix her mistake, they need to cancel because I was a difficult client. She blocked anyone who defended me. This post was very hurtful since she made the mistake. I was criticized by a few of her friends who backed her and was told they back her only because she's one of them. She slandered my name, made sure no colorist would touch me to fix her mistake (or take me on as a client) in kitsap, kept 100% of the money, refused to return the tip (I didn't ask for it all, just my tip) and had her friends pm me to harass me. I had my hair japanese thermal straightened and have been trimming it out so I can enjoy my curls again . She shaped my hair, thinned it out , taught me about curl patterns , how to retrain my hair , correct salon grade products , heat products , inquired about my routine , and even talked to me about color because I was honest and told her I had thermal straightening in my hair still and the color she is seeing is blonde that I had professionally colored back to my original color .
