Both my daughter and I have been coming to Pretty Hair Rockz for a little over two years now and it's been a wonderful experience thus far. What keeps us coming back is Rickia's professionalism, superior customer service and her healthy hair care system. She also has a very extensive portfolio and is up to date on the lastest hair trends and services. When I first met Rickia she made it very clear that she's not in this business for the money and prides herself on customer satisfaction and healthy hair and she's definitely lived up to that. When we first started coming our hair was in desperate need of some "TLC" and two years later our hair is so much stronger, healthier, and longer than it's ever been! Rickia is definitely the "Master" at silk presses but her portfolio expands way deeper than that! This young lady does custom colors, wigs, traditional sew-ins, microlinks and so much more. I truly appreciate and value a stylist who's not just in it for money and want to rush you in and get you out, that has honestly not been what Rickia is about. There have been countless times when I've wanted a service and Rickia has advised against it because my hair wasn't where it needed to be for that particular service. With Rickia, she recommends consultations before receiving certain services to ensure your hair can withstand that process and I appreciate that because your hairs foundation is essential to continued growth and stability. I recently added microlinks to my list of services received by Rickia, I expressed that I was nervous and had some reservations, I wasn't nervous about Rickia performing the service, but more so worried about risk factors and if it was an ideal service for me. Rickia took her time, walked me through what the process would entail, and ensured that if at any point I was uncomfortable or not satisfied we could stop the process. Talk about customer service! She also did a follow-up a few days later to see if I had any issues or concerns. It's the added personal touches and her level of concern for her clients that keeps me coming back! I got my hair done today and i simply love my new look. Rickia's hair salon is clean and i am pleased to say that they are practicing social distancing with the appointments spaced out. When i came in today, i was greeted as soon as i walked through the door. They check my temperature and i was asked to wash my hands. I was relived of this because it made me feel safe and comfortable. I loved the fact that they are taking social distancing serious. Alexis did my box braids and they looked AMAZING. She used summer time colors with various shades of blondes. My braids were neat and she didn't braid it tight at all so no headaches. I really enjoyed the service and the friendly atmosphere at Pretty Hair Rockz. Their professionalism and their salon savvy hair creations and styles is exactly what i was looking for in a hair salon. Rickia has been my stylist for nearly ten years. I started going to her when I first moved to the DC area from Ohio. She has always done a great job on my hair. Throughout the years, she has created multiple styles for me including silk presses, wigs, and micro links - all of which I love. I have natural hair and have seen tremendous growth since I started going to her. During times when I had hair issues (not Rickia's fault), she always made recommendations for different hair products, tried various treatments, and would tell me no to various styling requests if she felt it wasn't best for my hair. First of all, the shop is beautiful, it was a very inviting, clean, dope atmosphere. I have natural hair, so for the most part I wear wigs and a lot of protective styles. I wanted to try something new, not to mention my hair was super dry and in desperate need of a trim so, I opted for a silk press with a steam treatment. Rickia explained to me with getting a silk press there's no guarantee that my hair would revert completely to it's original state (which I was completely fine with because I don't straighten my hair, nor do I wear it in its natural state often). My results were phenomenal, I have received so many compliments on my silky flowy tresses. My hair appears and feels amazing, literally like SILK! I strongly recommend PHR! I LOVE Rickia!! She is the only person that I let do my hair. Her and her staff are very professional and take their time to ensure that you are comfortable. My silk press can last a month or longer with proper after care on my end. She always makes it a point to focus on the health of my hair. The salon is gorgeous and the atmosphere is amazing. I have also gotten my knotless braids done at the salon and I LOVED them. I love that she offers full services. Especially now that most stylist want you to come shampooed and blow dried for braids. I was looking to find a salon that would do my hair after healing from a surgical procedure that involved my scalp and Pretty Hair Rockz did. I found Rickia's salon on Instagram and I'm happy that she was willing to give me a chance. I spoke to her prior to making my appointment and she was very pleasant and kind. Not only did she email me back in a very short time spam she did something really special for me that she didn't have to do. The edge control I ordered is bomb and my edges are LAID honey. Omgesh now this is a salon that I truly don't mind going to get my hair done. It's decor is so refreshing ..... but that's not the best part. My hair is amazing it feels like silk. I have been to many places that claim to do silk press and I finally found the best.
