I am writing a review for Collin Bryan Construction here because this is where Yelp took me when I attempted to comment on Collin Bryan Construction. In spring of 2018 we had our roof and gutters replaced and some sheeting replaced. Chris was the supervisor and told us that the warranty for all work was 10 years. This spring we found a roof leak as well as gutter leak. I called and talked to someone who said they were the owner. They stated that they had family issues which would take a couple of weeks to resolve, after which they said they would come out to see what needed to be done. Starting in June this year I called the number listed on their website MANY times and no one ever answered. I also went on the website and left multiple notes in the "Contact Us" section asking them to contact me. Again, no response. Today I drove down to the address listed on the website and found out that they had left there over 3 years ago. There are a couple of other locations shown, but they all use the same phone number I tried. I am writing this review in hopes that no one else gets put in this situation. read more

Update for April 2023. Bryan Johnson did sign an agreement back in January shortly after this review to complete an agreed upon list of fixes by April 1st. All he managed to do was install a light. He did have the time and nerve to try and sell me additional work, and when that did not work he tried to charge us to complete the rest of the punch list. Update for January 2023. The one year came and went and CBC will not even respond to letters from my attorney requesting a decent timeframe to complete the work and correct the poor workmanship. The one silver lining is that this review is featured so hopefully there will be people out there who can learn from it and pick a reputable builder read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. If you are considering a pool build ... DO NOT USE THEM!!! The pictures speak for themselves. We contracted them to build our pool in April 2021z. It is now March 2022 and the pool still isn't finished. Bryan Johnson (owner) will lie to your face on when the pool will be completed. He has more excuses then Biden has brain cells. Collin Bryan Construction Fake Reviews Caution using contractors with excessive 5 star reviews. I purchased a metal roof from Travis Jones June 2021. Feb 2022 several installation errors, which will shorten the life of the roof and allow water seepage, were noticed. Travis could not produce any credible references or engineers report to validate the many areas where installers folded metals the wrong direction in valleys and other areas that will channel water behind folds. Travis made false claims stating this is a Berridge Metals procedure. I gave him an email from a Berridge Metals engineer stating they do not endorse this. They did not seal panels at side walls or install counter trim, which will cause water to seep into side walls and under panels. This left 11 holes where rodents can enter attic. Many more errors. After researching the company I learned owner Brian Johnson began purchasing fake 5 star reviews from internet in 2019. He has purchased hundreds of reviews. Many of the profiles have never lived in Texas or the United States. Travis seemed aware of the fake reviews and seemed aware the company does not honor many warranties. I paid $35,000 for this roof and the cost to redo the roof with repairs to damaged siding and gutters may exceed the cost. Travis told me he was once president of our homeowners association, I thought he could be trusted. The roof is now leaking in one area. Since they used sealant in many areas where panels should have been folded under with a cleat, it wont be long before there are many more leaks. Plus all these exposed ends will rust. PUBLICE SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT**** Citizens and potential Collin Bryan customers: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not use Collin Bryan Construction for your home needs, especially for building of a swimming pool. There is not enough space nor time for me to explain what a nightmare it has been using this company, owned by Bryan Johnson. We are now on 1.5 years on the building of our pool and it is NOT COMPLETE. We have gone through numerous "project managers" to the point that Bryan Johnson came to our residence several times. Just a few of the issues left by them and mistakes made; pored the WRONG plaster and did not upgrade the plaster that they promised due to so many issues during building, the coping of our pool immediately started discoloring and he offered no solution except what WE should try to do to correct it, one of the drains to drain rain water does not work, so we have to sweep it away from the house so it won't flood the house. They failed to install a permanent basketball goal that cost $1000 and volleyball sleeves on the sides ( there is no way for them to go back and install). I have recorded conversations between Bryan Johnson and myself, pictures and videos of the things they have yet to address. I have tried text messages, voice messages and emails and NO RESPONSE. Then, wait for it ..... I have received 3 certified mail letters from the plumbers that completed our work to put a lien on our house since Bryan Johnson did not pay them. I could go on and on. I think you understand my warning to other potential customers. I last text him January 18, 2022, with pictures and received no response. I hired Collin Bryan Construction in 2021 to build an in-ground pool. Almost a year and a half since then, Bryan Johnson (owner of the company) walked away from our project. I'd like to tell you my story. For those not interested, please understand that many, if not most, of the 5-star reviews are likely fake and you should instead refer to the 1-star reviews for honest assessments of this business. I do not recommend this company at all for *any* project. Please feel free to reach out to me at reviews(at)rdailey(dot)me and I'm happy to discuss it. Early 2021, my wife and I signed a contract with Collin Bryan Construction to build an in-ground pool. Right away things went wrong as the company took a long time to get the permitting done. Finally in November 2021, excavation began. Throughout the project, each phase took MONTHS, not weeks or days, to get scheduled and work done. All the while, we had multiple superintendents all of which either quit or were fired. The original sales guy who did our pool design quit because the company was so terrible. During excavation, due to an oversight on CBC's part during the design phase, they over-dug out a huge portion of our lawn that caused wash out in our neighbor's yard. After about 2 superintendents, I was left on my own to manage my own project. Workers were sent to my house to complete phases of the project with no one overseeing the project on site. Many workers did horrible quality work. I confronted Bryan Johnson *multiple* times about these issues and he always made some BS excuse as to why he couldn't correct mistakes. He would say things like how he can only replace a max of 10 tiles, or he'd talk about "industry standards" and how the way certain things were done was acceptable based on that. At the end of the day, he was difficult to work with and didn't take any accountability or try to make things right. For a few months during all of this, I had a BBB complaint opened to try to incentivize the business to complete my pool in a more timely manner and address my punch list of quality issues. In October 2022, Bryan Johnson called me on the phone and showed his true colors. He yelled at me and said I need to "have the balls to man up". It was at this point that Bryan walked from our project, with only plaster and some punch list items left to complete. He continued to demand money from us for stuff that should have been done correctly (e.g. sod repair, a retaining wall built to fix the over-digging that we didn't even want). We waited until around January 2023 to hire a second company to come in and finally finish up the project a month or two later. We also hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit against Collin Bryan Construction. Bryan Johnson continuously evaded the process server. He also filed a fraudulent lien on our home, which we had removed in our subsequent lawsuit against him. We won the lawsuit by default; Bryan didn't even respond to the court summons. The second pool builder we hired found tens of thousands of dollars worth of damages due to poor workmanship on the part of Collin Bryan Construction. The issues are far too numerous to list here. My attorney informed me that in Collin County alone, Collin Bryan Construction has at least 5 open lawsuits filed against them. Multiple people have reported liens placed on their homes. It seems like this business has screwed over multiple families over the past few years, based on reviews, my direct contact with some of these families, and reports from my attorney. Nearly one and a half years later, I finally have a finished pool and this nightmare has passed. It's a real shame that this guy is able to continue to get away with this stuff. Texas really needs to regulate these guys. What Bryan Johnson is doing is blatantly criminal and he should be barred from ever owning or running a business in this state. I just hope that my story will help inform others to avoid this guy at all costs. I sincerely feel bad for the other families that have it so much worse than we do. read more

Hired Collin Bryan to remodel 2 bathrooms in 2021. THings started off promising but quickly went downhill. In short, don't expect them to clean up after the job, make anything level unless you complain, come back to fix things without harassing them, and more... a) did not know how to properly do my bathroom plumbing and I had to insist multiple times to contact a real plumber who told them they were doing it wrong as I had said. b) not hardly a thing was installed that wasn't crooked or leveled properly c) sloppy tilework, chipped tiles, horrid grout application and left grout haze all of the bathroom which I still haven't been able to remove fully. d) painted my bathroom the wrong color and were annoyed to have to repaint even though it was clearly correct in our paperwork, they made the mistake e) didn't know how to properly install a bathroom medicine cabinet mirror f) didn't correct grade the shower curb or wall niche g) poor painting job h) I asked for the work to be fixed and to bring in a new crew due to how badly the first crew did and the second crew was worse! Really didn't fix much and then put the wrong color grout in my bathroom so half is the wrong color!! After so much back and forth begging them to fix the issue, I have all but given up contacting them. It is seriously amateur hour at this company. read more

Used this company to build a pool and a portico. I CANNOT RECOMMEND STRONGLY ENOUGH THAT YOU DON"T UE THEM TO BUILD YOUR POOL! Signed the contract in October 2021, received all permit approvals on December 8, 2021. Pool timeline was to be completed in 3 months. Pool construction did not start until February 10, 2 months later when they dug the hole for the pool. They then framed it out on the 11th and 12th and partially completed the plumbing the following week.. Then all work stopped for almost 2 months. According to the owner, he had a dispute with the plumbing sub-contractor overbilling him $100,000 on jobs and he could not find another plumber. Later he tells us it was his gunite contractor that over billed him $100,000. During this time without the pool ready for gunite pouring, the gunite company showed up twice from 60 miles away with 3 trucks ready to pour and had to be turned away. Pool was not completed until late August, 9 months after getting all permits were obtained and 6 months from proposed completion deadline. During this time they never removed any debris or trash leaving a dangerous backyard until July, 2022. The plumbing sub-contractor also screwed up and didn't plumb for 2 pool aerators. Company had to hire another plumber to drill holes in the pool siding to install after the fact. Instead of being flush against the wall they used 1 1'2" PVC pipe and the aerators stick out from the wall 4". The portico was supposed to be on a 1 on 12 pitch and overlap the one roof a foot with a 2" gap above roof. Sub-contractor built it with a 3 on 12 pitch and then had to build a skirt down to the roof. They also only built it over the roof gutter and not a foot over the roof so when it rains water splashes under the portico onto the furniture making it impossible to sit outside when it rains making the portico useless at that time. Finally and the most grievous problem is the decking sub-contractor graded and poured the concrete with a 5 inch drop to the French doors to the living room. And the draining system is inadequate to drain water during heavy thunderstorms and the water backs up and pools on the deck and has come into the house ruining the luxury vinyl flooring and the door. The owner claims it is the draining systems fault for the storm water runoff and takes no responsibility to correct. We have been quoted a price of $5,000 by a door company to replace the doors because according them they have to build it up above the deck grade to avoid water coming in. I have videos and photos that I have shared with the company and can provide to anyone who requests to see. I am being forced to seek an attorney to sue the company because the owner will not take responsibility for the sub-contractors poor workmanship that he used. He indicated that if I wanted to pay him to fix it he will quote me a price but he has already proven they do poor workmanship and I'm not going to pay more to fix the problem they caused. Very similar horror story to others that left reviews. Was given November 2021 as the tentative completion date but we are in September 2022 and still not complete. Went through 4 different project managers, apparently either they get fired or leave the job. Then the subcontractor for gas plumbing did not get paid by Collin Bryan so he tried to put a lien on my house!!! To make matters worse, they asked me to pay $31k on top of the contracted amount to complete the project!!!! Apparently, someone made the mistake and ordered and installed wrong material WITHOUT notifying me or getting any prior approval from me. And now they want me to pay for their goof ups. I have had the worst experience of any contractor I've worked with. I put in a pool last year starting in March and as of last December they still had not completed the project 100%. I had of course already paid in full and on time, but decided to ask for a refund of the handrail that had still not been installed. They also installed a fence and some of the stain got on my neighbors house. They have not taken care of that either. It is now April and I have not seen a dime and they are no longer responding to me. Extreme unprofessionalism and very disappointing. I was patient through weather conditions, labor issues and supply chain excuses, but they have shown little respect or care for me as a paying client. Last fall Collin Bryan installed a retractable awning for me. At the time I thought they did a good job. This spring I need to replace my roof due to hail damage. I called to have the awning taken down and then reattached after the roof was put on. I made an appointment with the receptionist but no one came on the appointed day. After several unanswered calls I was told that the appointment was put in wrong and they could maybe get to me in a week or two. That was not what I wanted. I didn't make the mistake and they were very dismissive. I also explained to them that the electrical hoookup they put in my attic to run the awning was not up to code. Daniel then asked "What is code". Finally someone came out to take the awning down. At That time I wasn't told that Collin Bryan didn't do the work anymore. They hire it out. These people were appalled at the shoddy work that was initially done. Along with the electrical being a fire hazard the awning was attached with wood screws instead of bolts. Daniel and Jonathan of Collin Bryan stopped answering my texts and calls to make a date to get the awning reattached. I would call the office and occasionally get the receptionist to answer and then she would get Daniel to text me. If she didn't answer and I left a message it would never be returned. I would not have this company do anything to my property again. They are rude, incompetent and have no communication skills. read more

The most horrific experience ever. Do not use this company. I wish there was option for 0 stars. I decided to use this company because of good reviews but they are manipulating the reviews because I had the worse experience ever! I signed the contract on 9/10/20 to install a new in ground pool. The salesman, Chris Dudley, sat on it for 6 weeks before handing it off to scheduler. Scheduler contacts me on 10/21/20, 6 weeks later to start the permit process. Meanwhile Chris blames the scheduler that its out of his hands once it goes to the scheduler but she didn't get it from him for 6 weeks. Permit got approved in 3 weeks but had to wait until 12/8/20 for the construction to start. Chris emails me asking for the list of selections I made. What kind of business practice does not have all the selections on file? Then the measurement was off on my yard so the decking is smaller than what I'm paying for. I asked why the decking square footage was a lot more than other companies I received quotes from but Chris said the other company's measurement was wrong. But he was wrong and is charging me more. Does this sound like a scam? Then I had to wait a month for the gunite(1/14/21) after the dig which caused the walls to break. They had to spray more of gunite and that caused my pool formation to be off which caused coping stone not to fit and so they had to cut pieces to make it fit. This does not look clean nor worth the money I paid. Another month of waiting for the tile and coping on 2/23/21. The construction crews were putting the tile on wrong so I told them that's not right but that's how they got it from the pool company because Chris emails me and says it's right how they are doing it. I showed Chris the picture he made that shows the correct way and told him he was wrong. How can you not have the basic design straight when you did the design yourself and had the pictures? Then he emails me I was right and said he was looking at an old plan. There is no old plan, only one plan. I never changed and wanted it one way from the beginning and signed the contract the same day as the design. One excuse after another not owning up to his fault and this is how they do business. Now we are at a standstill. Decking install is next but they schedule it for today(3/17/21) 3 weeks out saying due to weather forecast. We had 3 weeks of good weather and there was rain in the forecast today. I emailed the scheduler telling her to possibly move the date up but she ignores all of my emails. I left her a voicemail and she ignores that. I called the company front desk and spoken with her many times and requested to speak to a manager. She gave me his email but no phone number and says she will have him call me. He never called after 3 times of requesting. I emailed the manager several times and he never replies. Today I spoke to front desk again because of course the deck crew aren't here and this time she said she will have the owner, Bryan, call me. No callback still. Everyone from scheduler (Dottie Bun, one scheduler for the whole company), manager (Joe Garcia), and owner (Bryan) all ignores me. I have paid 80 percent of the whole cost and 80 percent is not complete. They are ignoring my emails, calls, request for callback and they are just working at their leisure when they have already wasted so much time because the lack of proper business practice. I am paying over 90K for this pool and I'm am not getting proper customer care nor proper communication. Do not sign with this company, you will regret just like me. read more

I recently had my roof replaced by Collin Bryan Construction and I am very pleased with my new roof and the service I received. They were recommended to me by a neighbor who also had their roof replaced by them and was very happy with their service. Rocky Patterson came out quickly to review my roof and took the time to explain its condition and what it needed. The crew was on time and took great care in protecting my property and did a good job with the clean up after they were finished. Rocky was also on site when my insurance company came to do their inspection and checked on the crew often. He even called after some recent rain we have had to make sure everything was good. I would recommend Collin Bryan Construction for repairing or replacing your roof. Their quote was very fair and better than a few other quotes I received.
