Each time I stop in I fall a little more in love with Preston's Cafe. It can get hot in the little cafe and service takes a bit of time, but all of that is more than matched in food quality, drink quality and friendliness of service. They serve top-notch products (hello Shugs!) and lunch sandwiches are inventive. This is the perfect neighborhood cafe and I hope they're here for a long time. read more

Up early on a rare foggy morning in Allen. Looking to grab a nice diner breakfast. Saw a few reviews for this place and failed to do my proper due diligence before driving to the location. Arrived to find the place more of a coffee/sandwich shop instead of a diner/cafe. Since I drive down I decided to go ahead and at least check out their menu. Many breakfast sandwich options to select from pastries and bagels. Many options, but not a diner. They have a ton of different beverage options. Many unique flavors. I went with the Biscoff cookie latte. Decadent!!!! I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. It's huge! But made as you wait, so everything is fresh. The croissant was light, buttery, and crispy on the exterior. Great breakfast sandwich! Vibe is more hipster than my personality, but the owner was friendly, helpful, and service focused. Purely based on the food, everything I had was delish. During my mini vacay, I came in everyday and tried something new. I'm definitely a sucker for anything with blueberry and tried their blueberry matcha and blueberry chai latte (both iced) and both satisfied my sugar cravings (not overly sweet, just enough). I also tried the angry Texan and Plano heat, the habanero jam in the Plano heat was scrumptious. The staff were super nice and attentive and I can't get over the place. Went to Preston's Cafe for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. The staff are extremely friendly and take their time to make sure you're enjoying your experience. One of the owners Glo made me a matcha latte and it was delicious. Visited here for a work breakfast and it was really tasty! Got the camo drink (matcha + espresso) and it was the right amount of sweetness and balance of flavor. Also got the fiesta sandwich but asked for it on an everything bagel. It was seasoned well and ingredients tasted fresh. It had egg, bean, avo, and pico de gallo. Also got a choc croissant but that was just ok. It was a big pastry which I liked, but not enough choc chips and was kinda dry. I love Preston's cafe for breakfast! Their iced lattes are very tasty. For breakfast I have tried the All-American, Vivd Morning, English muffin with sausage, with ham, and with bacon, Croissandwich, Lox Bagel, Plano Heat, and Angry Texan. There was not one of those that I disliked or would not order again. The standouts are the Plano Heat (if you like spicy), the All-American, and the Lox Bagel. I highly recommend Preston's Cafe for breakfast. Next I plan to try some lunch items. read more

I've come with my friends, other family members, and just by myself to study :) The ambiance is friendly and cozy. It's nothing super fancy just really good sandwiches, wraps, pastries, coffees, etc. The owners (originally from Chicago) are wonderful people, super friendly and nice and even gave us a free chocolate chip cookie! It's a small place, probably 15 ish tables but cozy with lots of plants inside and good music. I got the Smokin Texan sandwich which was a generous size plus included chips! I work like 10 minutes away and was look for a local business with a drive thru. Decoded to try Preston Cafe on a whim. The woman who took my order was very nice. Ordered a large green tea and a Margarita sandwich. Took the food back to work to eat at my desk. I feel bad saying this, but it was not good. The green tea tasted like soap. And the sandwich was supposed to be a panini, and while it had grill marks, nothing was warm inside. The mozzarella wasn't melted even a little. They give you chips with the sandwich, but they are in a plastic bag they wrapped themselves. It cost me almost $20 for a drink and sandwich. Not a fan. Best lox sandwich this side of NYC. So my ADHD got the best of me when entering. It's a small place and the staff were so welcoming and helpful I was legit overwhelmed. Not their fault I'm a spaz. I couldn't focus on the menu (new places take me some time) but luckily my husband could because he ordered the lox sandwich. This was a hefty hedonistic hand held delight. Sorry more h-words h-escape me. Why do I write? The first bite of the fluffy and thick bagel, the scallion(?) cream cheese decadence got my husband to talk about the time he lived in New York, eating similar orders from a place in Brooklyn. He ate too full of bites and waxed poetic about Bergen bagels. Legit this place made my husband think of NYC bagels, the best that there are. If there is a competition for best lox bagels, if I'm being totally serious, this place knocks out pretty much all of DFW. And you know I'm kinda annoyed because if they make this so good they probably make other things just as good but I'm incapable of ordering them because the lox sandwich is so good I don't imagine I'll order anything else. Miss out on this and you're missing out on a bite of New York conveniently located in Plano. Right next to the park at downtown Plano, and the coffee options (and samples) make it kind of irresistible.
