They showed up then took 30 minutes and determined that they had made a mistake on their solution and had to revise the plan and go back to engineering. Winter was closing in, so nothing could be done for the rest of the year. Fast forward to Feburary of 2025. I start calling to get an update and am getting no reply. That's calling both the job foreman and the company owner. Finally made contact and was told they were having problems getting an approved solution, but were still trying. In early March they sent me a check for my entire deposit. Still no communication. Apparently they just gave up. My real issue is their utter inability to communicate and inform me of progress or even the lack thereof. I'm not typically one for publicly bad mouthing a contractor, but in this case it I feel its valid.

My college daughter lived near BSU campus and started feeling sick as soon as she moved into her…read morenew place. It became apparent it was correlated to the time she moved into the apartment. We informed the landlord that we suspected mold. He immediately called out Resto Clean to do an inspection and air sample test. The test came back and the report indicated that there were abnormally high levels of Stachy and Chaet (very toxic molds). They then sent out the same company to do an inspection of the place to try and find the mold source. The only things they did to look for the mold was using a moisture meter on the walls and then checking the crawl space under the building. They didn't find anything. Because they didn't find anything, they deemed the apartment safe and claimed there were no issues... despite the out of range levels of toxic molds. Both of the molds that came back in abnormal levels are HEAVY spores and RARELY, if ever, seen in air capture tests. And after doing a lot of research, we learned that the only truly acceptable levels of Stachy and Chaet are actually ZERO. These molds are from LONG time water damage that doesn't require constant moisture to thrive (meaning that a moisture meter will NOT always catch the mold problem) and are constantly producing mycotoxins. It's these mycotoxins that make us extremely sick. They are both neurotoxic and wreak havoc on our bodies and organs. This was back in March of 2024 and we have done hours and months of research on this and mold toxicity illness. I am so upset that they had the nerve to deem this apartment "safe". My daughter became VERY ill and needed to see a specialist to detox and treat her newly acquired thyroid condition among other issues. This specialist is out of pocket because insurance doesn't cover mold illness in allopathic medicine standard of care. They played on our lack of mold knowledge and took advantage of us. Thankfully, the landlord let her out of her lease to then only move another college student in. The kicker of this story was when they initially came out to inspect it was shared with us that the landlord hired RESTO CLEAN because they were friends.
