At first it looked like coffee grounds and now it's all black. Our building was insisting we pay to get it fixed because it's a problem in our apartment. I explained the issue to Jerry at CID and that we never put coffee grounds or anything like that down the drain, who was able to tell me over the phone that he was completely certain the issue was not coming from our apartment since we have fully stopped using the sink and dishwasher since this started and it continues to fill with more liquid. There's more I could explain but that's the basics. Anyway Jerry was so nice, offered to get someone there by 8pm (I had called at 4pm so that was amazing) and it would be a flat fee to snake the drain and was very up front about what it would be which was very transparent. He suggested I talk to building management as this was not an issue of something we did wrong that normally it's something they would pay for. I did and they are sending someone out to inspect all the apartments in our line tomorrow. I don't think they will let us use CID if they are going to pay for it (which we sincerely hope they will) but despite that Jerry was incredibly nice and even gave me specific tips to tell the building management to make sure their plumber did the best job possible. Thank you Jerry for probably saving us a lot of money! Please go give these guys business, if we could we would!

The guy told me that it was a one-time thing and once I was registered with them they would drop the $450 part and it would be $165 for the simple diagnostic and then hourly parts and labor from there. That was all very well and good in the 1st call cost a little over $500 and only gave me was a replacement of my boiler suggestion. I just called them back 3 months later to work on the same boiler and they want to same 500 bucks before they do anything beyond guesstimate the problem. They know who we are, that we own our building so this $500 because we're not sure we can trust you that they collect before they do any work is just nonsense. Find somebody else who sticks to their agreements. I hired a plumber from Chinatown who just did a great job and applied the show up money to the total $700 bill for replacing my aqua stat and my low-water sensor and cleaning the boiler they were here for 3 hours. . They were able…read moreto replace the leaky section by making two small holes in the wall of a closet on my first floor and one under the carpeted hallway floor (no damage to the carpet) to replace the leaking section of the pipe. A carpenter they sent will be making the small patches. I'm relieved that they didn't have to go through the tiles in the shower or anyplace that would be expensive to patch. They identified the source of the leak and repaired it quickly and didn't leave a mess behind. I highly recommend this plumber!

I shared approved Dept of Buildings plans and supervisor came out for a walk-through and verbally quoted me $20,000, saying as he left he'd write the detailed proposal based on his $20,000 verbal quote. However, when he emailed his proposal the price shot up 92.3% to $38,460.00! I emailed back to get justification, but never received a response to the exorbitant markup from the verbalized quote at my house. I wanted to know why Harris would not honor the $20,00 I was quoted during the site visit? I have been a repeat client of this business paying $1000s at each of their visits to do my plumbing work, and was told that because of this fact, I'd get a slight discount on my renovation proposal for the plumbing aspect. But a 92.3% markup from original quote of $20,000 is extortion, fraud and just bad business practice to say the very least! I found out also that they don't come out and tell you that they charge a discharge/service fee to come out, but $150/per hour of travel time is quietly--not disclosed to customer--added to their bills, yet never disclosed to you upfront. They were coming from the office location in Brownsville and I'm all the way down south on Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay and they must take the side streets to get to me because commercial vehicles are not permitted on the Belt Parkway. I will stop being a repeat loyal customer to Harris Plumbing and Heating and will not refer them to anyone else ever again. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau also. Good riddance Harris Plumbing and Heating!
