We used Cooling Unlimited to install our heat pumps…read more 1) Cooling Unlimited submitted our Mass Save paperwork incorrectly. After agreeing to complete paperwork for a whole-home rebate, they submitted it as a partial rebate. They were unable to secure our full rebate. After we contacted Mass Save directly, we recovered the full rebate. 2) After the installation, our upstairs heat pump was not operating properly. Cooling Unlimited came out multiple times to inspect the unit and told us it was working adequately. Only after I showed them that the temperature coming out of the upstairs unit was not appropriate did they agree there was an issue. They told us they contacted the manufacturer and ultimately fixed what they described as an issue with the unit. 3) Our upstairs thermostat did not operate correctly after installation. Cooling Unlimited replaced it, but the replacement thermostat still does not measure the temperature correctly. 4) Cooling Unlimited installed a glycol feeder and heat exchanger. Our oil company later told us that the heat exchanger was undersized. We asked Cooling Unlimited to come out and inspect the heat exchanger. Cooling Unlimited then told us they had sent someone from Bosch to our house to inspect the heat exchanger, and that the Bosch technician said it was fine. 5) After all of this, I called Bosch directly. Bosch told me they had no record that Cooling Unlimited had registered our units them and that they had never been contacted from Cooling Unlimited about our units. This made it unclear who Cooling Unlimited had actually contacted when they said they had spoken with the manufacturer. 6) Cooling Unlimited installed incorrectly sized filters in our air handlers and had cut the filters with scissors to make them fit. 7) Cooling Unlimited is now refusing to honor our service contract. We signed a three-year service contract that included annual service. We did not receive service from them in the fall, and they are now saying we cannot receive our annual service because it is spring.

I contacted R.H. Young after a heat pump in which they had installed a new motor and serviced…read morenearly a year ago stopped heating. The motor replacement had been done on their recommendation, as my 14-year-old heat pump was beginning to get loud. I was told that after the repairs I could then get many more years of service out of the heat pump, and paid $1840 for the work. They sent out a service technician to check why it wasn't heating. He determined the freon had leaked out and I'd have to schedule any additional repairs with the office. He also said that he would never have repaired a 14-year-old heat pump and would just have recommended replacing it. There was an $220 service charge for his work. When I called the office they said it could take an additional $1000 to track down the source of the leak, (I had never had a leak previous to their work on the heat pump) and provide new freon. I asked to speak to the manager to see if there was a better solution than paying another $1000, when I had already paid them over $2000 for a repair I had gotten very little value for. The manager called when I was out, but said he would call again in the next two days. I called back at his number and got an answering service where I left a message. I never received another call back from him. Apparently RH Young's customer service ends when the customer's check clears. I went ahead and installed a new heat pump, but not through RH Young.

Cut to the point, she tried booking an appointment but didn't have any immediate available times, and said they charge $159 just to diagnose and book the appointment, I tried being reasonable/negotiable and said the price was a little too steep for me (esp seeing how they didn't have any available times immediately and that I had to wait for 2 days). The minute I said "steep", the lady got mad and hung up the call, here's the kicker - she accidentally didn't drop the call fully and I overheard her saying I'm so annoying and complaining about steep fees and I should go somewhere else, and the most shocking part was when she said "they" are now becoming the minority (talking to someone in the background). Wow just wow. I'll let you make out your interpretation of that. I'm trying to make light of the situation - While she basked in her rudeness, I kept the line open and got to hear some terrible humming to Michael Jackson - The way you make me feel. Ultimately, I never expected that statement from you guys. I can confirm you've lost my business, thanks for not having availability because if I knew that's the kind of people you are, I wouldn't want you in my house anyway. Great job!!

Between the quick response/scheduling time, clean workmanship, and fine attention to detail, happy to say the leaking water heater experience felt less chaotic with 128's help! The estimate (#435094323) was $30,275 to demo every wall and ceiling necessary, disconnect first- and second-floor bathrooms, toilets and sinks, and replace the main stack. That was presented to me as the only option -- no alternatives, no phasing, nothing. And it did not include the roughly $6,000 I'd need to close the walls back up and reinstall fixtures, or the ~$400 roofer I'd have to hire and coordinate myself. Their own estimate puts the hole repair on the customer in writing. All in: nearly $37,000. Meanwhile my first-floor tenant was told she couldn't use her bathroom or her kitchen. When I hesitated at the number, I was told that at least if I sold the house I'd "have retail value." That's the line that made me stop and get a second opinion. Thompson Plumbing came out, found the actual leak -- old hubbed cast iron serving the kitchen -- and repiped it. $2,995. My final invoice was $3,420, and that included an unrelated frost-free silcock I added on. My toilet was fine. My kitchen sink was fine. My tenant's kitchen and bathroom were fine. Not one wall was demoed. Same house. Same leak. Ten percent of the price. I'm not going to speculate about why the two assessments were so far apart. I'll just say this: if 128 Plumbing tells you your house needs a $30,000 repipe, get a second quote before you sign anything. I nearly didn't, and it would have cost me thirty-three thousand dollars I did not need to spend.

After several emails with company (because no one answers a phone) I thought we had a date set. I grew concerned as we got closer due to no confirmation. I sent SEVERAL confirmation emails and calls NOO RESPONSE! Finally after the missed appointment I reached out via Facebook, the gate keeper responded saying she never got emails. That was until I encouraged this professional to look at her "junk folder". She never apologized for miscommunication and she became very defensive. I begged for owner to call me because at this point I still felt the tec s there might be good even though their customer service was dreadful. Not sure if she even told whoever was in-charge he had a willing customer. I am just shocked in this day and age of poor customer service in a small COMPANY.
