The first time she did it it was around June / July 2024 and that turned out great she said that my hair would have to be redone once it grows out in about 3-6months I opted to wait the longest period namely six month. Me not knowing anything about hair. It took her word for it. That was the worst advice ever. I went in to see her in January of 2025 for a touch up. And this is where disasters started !! She told me it would be $200., If she bought the product as she was struggling to find the product. However, I found the product easily and I ended up buying the product which was $85 out of my pocket and I was still charged the $200. So basically, I paid $285. My hair was so extremely over processed, she allowed her non licensed assistant who does not know how to do a rperm to take the primary in doing my curly perm, which a perm in general is a very delicate process. I reached out to Mabell multiple times I sent her various photos and videos of my hair, showing the damage and the breakage and the fish hooks. It truly broke my heart that she offered me no solution. Or even responded. I am now going to another hairdresser. Who's helping me repair my hair. I just want accountability. This is a woman that has been doing my hair 4 years. I've been working on growing my hair for several years now., especially losing my hair after being put on cancer medication's, I've been growing it steadily for the past four years and now I have to start that journey over again. And I couldn't get as much as a text message. She left me on read multiple times. I'm deeply disappointed because up until this point we've had a really good relationship. Not to mention, my hair is in shambles, and I am forced to wear braids Which I normally don't do! The whole point of the curly perm was for me to wear my natural hair more and manage it more easily. I've attached before and after photos of my hair down below.. My hair no longer goes into its beautiful curly Afro that I worked so many years to build and strengthen. Poris mess and I am heartbroken. The whole back lower half of my hair completely snapped off the other portion of my upper head has broken off in various locations leaving me showing bald spots when my hair is pulled up. It's awful! DO NOT GO THERE EVER

The prices were also extremely reasonably and can't be beat! Maria and Zulma were so welcoming and made me feel like I was a longtime customer even sharing the pizza they ordered for their lunch!!!I will definitely be coming back. Do yourself a favor and if you want amazing hair visit this wonderful small business!!! ( it was extremely hot and humid that day ) . I've driven by Root One Hair Salon and Spa and thought it couldn't hurt to stop in and ask if there was anything they could do for me . ( I didn't have an appointment ) I walked in and was greeted with a big Hello , can we help you ? They did exactly that !!! Kim and Faith were eating their lunch. Kim had a short break right after her lunch and low and behold, she transformed my frizzy , crazy hair into a stylish and long holding look . I can't thank Kim enough ! I went back again ( with an appointment lol ) and Kim cut my hair . It looks wonderful!!! thank you Kim , Faith and all the wonderful employees at Root One Hair Salon and Spa . I'd give you 10 stars if I could !! Thank - you

***UPDATE*** I filed a complaint through the BBB. The owner of the salon called me an outright liar…read moreand said that I was trying to scam her out of money, when all I wanted was an apology. I also forgot to mention that while I was there they had a horrible ant infestation that they were trying to quietly cover up by spraying Raid everywhere. I've worked in customer service based industries and this "salon" is by far the worst example of a customer service based business I have ever seen. Also, IGNORE their 100% satisfaction guarantee as they will not honor it, not even with an apology. WORST HAIRCUT EVER! I am so upset that I decided to get my hair trimmed here rather than driving the 3 hours to my old stylist. I went in asking just for a trim - I grow my hair out for the soul purpose of donating it to 'Locks of Love'. The stylist did not listen to anything I asked. My hair is uneven, the left side is 2 inches longer than the right and if I brush my hair out the ends are all uneven. I specifically said I did not want layers added to my hair and she again did not listen. The top portion of my hair is literally 5 inches shorter than the bottom portion of my hair. I work as a model/actor in addition to being a Marketing Exec - I had to cancel an audition I had scheduled this week because of this horrible haircut. The best advice I have for people interested in this salon is don't go!! In addition the entire experience cost me $75 - which is roughly $35 more than I ever spent of my old stylist.

I tried calling customer service through where I booked from and they told me the only person that can issue a refund is the stylist themselves. So we made the agreement to send it back after it hit . So I waited 2 days . I called and texted and and literally she ignored my text and did not answer my phone calls at all .
