I've been getting my hair done by her for several years and recently I wanted a curly perm to loosen up my tight coils. The first time she did it it was around June / July 2024 and that turned out great she said that my hair would have to be redone once it grows out in about 3-6months I opted to wait the longest period namely six month. Me not knowing anything about hair. It took her word for it. That was the worst advice ever. I went in to see her in January of 2025 for a touch up. And this is where disasters started !! She told me it would be $200., If she bought the product as she was struggling to find the product. However, I found the product easily and I ended up buying the product which was $85 out of my pocket and I was still charged the $200. So basically, I paid $285. My hair was so extremely over processed, she allowed her non licensed assistant who does not know how to do a rperm to take the primary in doing my curly perm, which a perm in general is a very delicate process. I reached out to Mabell multiple times I sent her various photos and videos of my hair, showing the damage and the breakage and the fish hooks. It truly broke my heart that she offered me no solution. Or even responded. I am now going to another hairdresser. Who's helping me repair my hair. I just want accountability. This is a woman that has been doing my hair 4 years. I've been working on growing my hair for several years now., especially losing my hair after being put on cancer medication's, I've been growing it steadily for the past four years and now I have to start that journey over again. And I couldn't get as much as a text message. She left me on read multiple times. I'm deeply disappointed because up until this point we've had a really good relationship. Not to mention, my hair is in shambles, and I am forced to wear braids Which I normally don't do! The whole point of the curly perm was for me to wear my natural hair more and manage it more easily. I've attached before and after photos of my hair down below.. My hair no longer goes into its beautiful curly Afro that I worked so many years to build and strengthen. The whole back lower half of my hair completely snapped off the other portion of my upper head has broken off in various locations leaving me showing bald spots when my hair is pulled up. It's awful! I took my daughter here for box braids. She has a lot of thick natural hair and they did a beautiful job! Everyone working in the salon is friendly, kind and very knowledgeable of hair textures and styles. From shampooing, conditioning, detangling and braiding they were great throughout the whole process! It was a long salon visit but she was fine the entire time and we will be back! read more

I went in for a wash, blowout and trim on Saturday, May 5. I had asked for a blowout because 1. I wasn't sure the trim would come out evenly in my natural curls and 2. I wanted to see my hair straight for the first time in a couple of years. What I didn't expect when I went to wash my hair a couple of weeks later was the potent and pungent stench of fried hair, and to find frizzy, lifeless, stringy strands coming out of my head. Your stylist ruined my curl pattern and undid 20 months of hard work that I put into growing out, caring for, and maintaining my natural hair. I'm now forced to transition for a second time, which is not what I wanted to spend the next year and a half of my life doing. I am very frustrated, though I suppose I should have known not to trust what I believed to be a routine styling option with a salon I wasn't familiar with. Ladies, no matter the salon you go to, make sure you ask your stylist not to go over 400 degrees on the flat iron. Spare your beautiful hair and your heart. read more

They do good hair but when I went there were too many unsupervised kids running around. They said the credit card machine wasn't working and I had to go to the atm up the street that's not even my bank to get cash, but when I got back I saw them swipe someone else's card. What? Very long wait times. If you are a friend or family you can walk in without an appoint and get your hair done. If you are new client expect to wait a LONG time. People in there hanging out and chilling. Why would someone spend hours in a hair salon if they aren't having there hair done?! Like I said they do good hair but I don't think I'll be coming back. Great place if you have multicultural hair. I have African American curls and they always cut it perfectly. The stylists are great too! Always good conversation and good laughs. The only thing is the wait. The past 2 times I've gone, I've waited an hour and 15 mins to be seen for just a wash and trim. I've gone to Mabell's in the morning before when it isn't as busy and the wait time is normal. Just depends on what day/time you go read more

Everything about the service was great. My locs came out beautiful and juicy. She straightened my daughter's hair and I was so satisfied. My biggest worry was heat damage and crying if it hurt my daughter too much. She was gentle and assured me no heat damage. She did her thing! read more

I have been here for myself n recently in for my daughters hair (61/2 years old) Patricia was amazing with her. N my daughter did not make it easy. The whole staff was amazing n tried talking to her to make her more comfortable. I was skeptical bringing my daughter to a hair salon due to really really thick tangled curly hair but I'm glad I took her there. She loves her hair. N the the whole staff including Mabell was just simply amazing. I have definitely found my hair salon.. it's extremely convenient for us which is a plus. Thanks guys. I'm giving them one star mainly based on my wait here. I made an appointment for a razor cut (undercut) two days before the time I wanted. I ended up waiting 2.5 hours and eventually just left. This was terrible service and I'm appalled that they just let me sit there and wait. Never coming back and will tell my friends to not come here either. read more

Mabell is a great hair salon and I strongly recommend it to everyone. As soon as I walked in I was politely greeted and given a wait time. I had to wait a hour but it was WORTH it! They do take appointments and I will definitely make one next time. They play up to date music and they have a television for customer's entertainment. The hair stylists are very welcoming and knowledgable of hair trends, care, & materials/tools. They are very professional but they also have a sense of humor. They are excellent here in many ways: personable, professional, helpful, and have a large amount of expertise in various hairstyles. The stylists listen to you about your style needs and work their magic from this point. They also have a lot of expertise in styling many different types of hair from the African Diaspora. The biggest reason why I keep returning is because they were very welcoming and I felt like I was instantly accepted as part of their family. if you are 3B-3C hair and need a hair cut don't go there. went there for a trim and shape with a photo and asked for a dry cut then Patricia agreed but after sitting on the chair she wet my hair and brush it and i ended up with a short hair that has nothing to do with the photo i showed her! i am so upset and will never go there again read more

I usually get a wash and set at Mabels. They are phenomenal! Trust me, you will not regret it. I GUARANTEE you will leave the salon with the best results and you will be in love with what they have done to your hair. Once, I had about an inch and a half of new growth and my hair was badly tangled and with patience they had me leaving the salon with sleek, manageable, and shiny hair. My hair looked amazingggg!
