The sales manager, Jeff Funk, had me initial in 3 places, and then sign a receipt that stated "if you cancel the order, we keep a 20% restocking fee". He reviewed this fee AFTER I SIGNED EVERYTHING. I heard him imply that this was if I cancelled the order after receiving it if it was not as expected. I asked when the expected delivery would be. He said "2-6 weeks, but most likely 2 weeks." My husband and I are seniors on fixed incomes. I told him this and that it was a huge purchase for us. I found we needed the money for medical reasons and called 7 days later to cancel. He said "You signed a contract so we will refund all but 20%" and " I just received the recliner and have to now pay to keep it in storage". I was very upset and attempted to negotiate 10%. This offer was shot down within 24 hours. I have reported this to the BBB and to my bank who are assisting. This unethical practice violates Section 59.1-200 of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act , Section 16(a) reads: 16. Failing to disclose all conditions, charges, or fees relating to: a. The return of goods for refund, exchange, or credit. Such disclosure shall be by means of a sign attached to the goods, or placed in a conspicuous public area of the premises of the supplier, so as to be readily noticeable and readable by the person obtaining the goods from the supplier. I therefore cannot recommend this company. Buyer beware of non-clear disclosure. NOWHERE IS THIS POSTED IN THEIR STORE, NOR WAS I SHOWN THIS IN WRITING MAKING IT CLEAR TO ME WHAT THE STIPULATIONS WERE BEFORE SIGNING THIS CONTRACT SALES RECEIPT. ***UPDATE JULY 2025*** My credit card co. accepted my dispute and refunded my money, keeping 10% as I requested. Additionally, I was receiving several calls a day from this sales person, finally leaving a detailed message that my bank requested I call him back to settle. When checking with my bank/CC co., they advised me that they told this man to not continue to call me but to work with the bank only. I blocked his calls. Not smart for a smaller business chain to operate in this way. You treat one customer poorly, you lose hundreds more. Out of curiosity, I deep dived further into this brand of sofa. The appointment time was confirmed with my tenants, who agreed to provide access. When the appraiser arrived, one tenant did not answer the door. Instead of waiting a reasonable moment or making another attempt, he immediately went next door and completed that unit. Within minutes, I was alerted that the first tenant's wife had been home the entire time but had not heard a knock. I immediately contacted the company, well within the scheduled appointment window, to request that the appraiser return to finish the first unit. I was told he would not and that I would have to reschedule. When I did reschedule, I was charged an additional $200--essentially a penalty for their lack of flexibility. On the second appointment, the appraiser himself arrived late, after 11:42 for an 11:30 appointment. When I politely called the office to ask why their own timeliness standard did not apply to them, their staff member, Jamie, responded rudely, insisting he was already there, then hung up the phone. Between the unnecessary extra charge, the double standard regarding scheduling, and the dismissive treatment by their staff, I cannot consider this company professional or customer-oriented.

The salesman then told me he could give me my money back as a resolution to the problem. I then asked to speak to a manager and the salesman said he would be here on Saturday. I asked the manager if they could waive the delivery fee since I had no one to help get the washer in the house and he said he would do it for $129.00. I then said if you could bring the price down to $100.00 I would except that. The manager said he could not do that. I told the manager that I have bought appliances from them before and bought numerous appliance parts but obviously my words fell on deaf ears. I then told him to cancel the order and I would call him back on Monday to give him my credit card information to credit my account. I called on Monday and spoke with the salesman again and gave him my information to return my money. He said he would take care of it. I checked my bank account on Thursday and the money still had not been returned. I called the store again and the salesman said my account was credited on Monday and it may take 2 to 3 days for the money to clear. He said if you don't see the money in your account by Friday to give us a call. I finally got a receipt for the transaction on my phone Friday afternoon. I then called my bank to verify the transaction and they told me that the transaction was actually done on Friday and not on Monday like the salesman said. I know the customer is not always right every time but when you are told that your money has been returned and it hasn't, you can pick your washer up on Friday and you can't. Then you are told you must have misunderstood what was said. If they are willing to lie about when your money has been returned to your account would they also lie about when the washer was supposed to come in? Integrity is everything!!!! I have done business with The Appliance Place for years and I have bought a Refrigerator, Dishwasher and numerous appliance parts from them with no problems. My family has also done business with The Appliance Place before but after this experience neither my family or I will give The Appliance Place our business or recommendations any more.

I have gotten paintings, an end table, plates, coffee cups, all for under $10 each! The layout is great, but they do pack the floor to the max so watch your step. I believe everything there is donated, so the quality of the items vary but for the price I never complain. Just make sure to inspect as all sales are final. Only once have I come across something that cost more at Restore than Walmart. And I didn't mind too much because the money does go to a good cause.
