I highly recommend Gates Antiques and Jay Gates, not only for quality antique furniture, art, and porcelain, but also for the exceptional repair and restoration service they provide. I recently came into possession of a drop leaf table that has been in my family for 80 years. Sadly it was in rough condition so I took it to Gates Antiques to be restored. The craftsmanship and attention to detail given to the table was truly impressive. I now have a beautiful piece of furniture that I am proud to have in my home. I will be able to pass it down to my children someday. Mr. Gates is friendly and great to work with. He is known in the community for integrity, knowledge, craftsmanship, and truly fine antiques.

In this day and age it's exceedingly rare to encounter a businessman who takes a personal interest in a customer dilemma. But Jay Gates is one of those men. A family heirloom spinet desk of mine had been water damaged and was in the process of being restored by another business when the restorer/owner died unexpectedly while working on my desk. The desk was only partially finished and in pieces when I reclaimed it. I contacted Gates Antiques right away, shortly before Christmas, and Jay said to bring it right in. Not only did he complete the restoration beautifully, but he prioritized the work since I had been without the desk since August. It was delivered today, magnificently restored. I'm forever grateful to Jay and his employees for stepping in and graciously taking over this project. I cannot recommend Gates Antiques too highly.

Sophisticated, curated American antiques. This family business has buildings of restored period antiques. A delight to visit.

Spoke with Stephanie for guidance on disposing of some paintings and other items. She was most professional and helped immensely.

This place is amazing and the owner couldn't have been nicer. Gates has the best antiques around and I will be a regular visitor.

If you love primitive décor, rustic furniture, antique quilts, toys, baskets, pewter, rugs, and…read moremost of all game boards... then this is the place for you! The shop is in a historic house where every room is filled with treasures. As you make your way up the narrow steps, the upstairs has all kinds of nooks and crannies and tiny alcoves filled with vintage pieces. I love the heavy wooden plank floors that creak beneath your feet. The four poster bed with the crocheted canopy is a sight to be seen. The fireplaces are decorated with beautiful candlesticks, garlands, pictures and mirrors. There are dozens of rush, cane, ladder-back, embroidered and weaved chairs. Several areas are stocked with shelves of bygone dish patterns and vintage pottery. Almost every railing is draped with gorgeous quilts and blankets. The walls along the stairs are filled with game boards including Parcheesi, checkers and chess, Chinese checkers, backgammon and carrom. I have several of these in my home and I love them! The Glass cloches are quite a find and there is a section of garden décor as well! I love the looms and spindles and other antique machines and tools. Some of the prices are high, but others are reasonable for the age of the wares. The owners are quite nice and knowledgeable. Even if you are not into this style, this unique shop is worth a gander just to get a glimpse of the past! At Game Antiques, you'll be a winner!!
