The Press is listed as Spokanes best bloody Mary. After not being able to find parking in their lot, I was at how few people were inside. Upon entering and not being acknowledged, we sat at a table where we were ignored and received no service. We walked out and headed to Curlys in Hauser ID, where they serve amazing bloody Mary's, food and outstanding service. Will not be returning to the Press. This place isn't worthy of the 1 star I'm required to give it. read more

First time here and I am glad we stopped in. Had a few Moscow Mules and the place had a continuous playlist of songs from 1995-2005 going. Love this place when it is not busy and when you have one of the good bartenders. Meaning as, nice, communicative and even notices to take your order. The parking is a big ol' pain, especially when it is trivia night or it is the weekend. This place is totally boring, a generic yuppy martini bar if I've ever seen one. From the brand logos hung in every possible window to the dim-yet-obnoxiously-fluorescent lighting, nothing about this place is unique. Their pastries are nothing new and neither are their drinks. After the inviting, warm website going to Press was a giant letdown. I had such high hopes for what was touted as a coffee shop-cum-nightspot, but Spokane has let me down again. read more

Came here in the morning for a cup of coffee and to do a little writing. Was pleasantly surprised by the clean, spacious interior. Built it what used to be a Quicki-Lube, they've done a great job of turning it into a very attractive coffee house / martini bar. During the day they serve French press coffee and pastries, and in the evening it's martinis, beer, and wine. Moreover, they have lots of space for outdoor seating. It's a shame that they are right on Grand Ave with lots of traffic going by (though you can't hear it from inside). As I'm writing this, I'm on their free wi-fi and I'm the only customer in the place (10am on a Wednesday). Unlike The Rocket or the Rockwood Bakery, Press is anything but Bohemian. It's also not as expensively decorated as, say, Bistango Martini Bar. But there are plenty of reasons to like Press. Their coffee is wonderful, and they aren't cramped for space or overcrowded like the previously mentioned spots. If you find yourself driving down Grand and thinking about a cup of coffee, I recommend you pass up the Starbucks and give Press a try. read more

Not only were there no drink menus on the table, it took 8 minutes for staff to greet us at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday when there were 4 other people belly up. When I got my Bloody Caesar it was nothing to write home about, not spicy and a stick of celery with 2 beans was what the garnish consisted of. Some one at out table then ordered another round, when I got my second unimpressive Bloody Caesar I took one sip and realized it was a Bloody Mary. Not being a high maintenance patron I just sucked it down with no complaint. When I got my bill I saw they were $8 each, thinking this may be an error I asked the waiter, he said "yep that's right $8". I asked what the Vodka was in it, he replied with "well". I paid my tab with no other argument and tipped on the total. I do, however, feel like I was robbed. Beware of terribly-overpriced unimpressive BM at Press! read more

Ok I have always wanted this place to be great, but we have given it a few chances and every time the service and drinks are awful. We went there on a Saturday night and it was St Pattys day and the bartender was drunk. He was slurring his words like crazy, didn't know how to make drinks. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was a ton of lime juice with vodka and that was it, we tried to get his attention to add some ginger beer but he was too distracted and said he was sooo busy but the place was dead! I have given this place enough chances, but they have burned us more than once. Poor poor service, drunk bartender and awful drinks. My first time here was a few weeks ago on March 7th and I will never go back. We live on the south hill and I had heard great things about The Press, so I wanted to give it a try. It was pretty slow for a Saturday, which was actually kind of nice. I got the feeling from the bartender that he didn't want to be there, I was very specific for no club soda in my drink and sure enough, it had club soda. When you're buying top self, and paying for top shelf, you should DEFINITELY get what you ask for. We ordered pizza next store which is a great addition and that was the best part of the night. A big group of people came in who had obviously been drinking for a while, and one "friend" kneed the other "friend" in the balls, which was inappropriate and immature. This guy was on the floor for a good 10+ minutes, with all of his friends around him laughing hysterically. We finally went over to check on him and he was SO incredibly drunk he should have been called a cab home, but his friends just dumped more booze down his throat. And the group started to get confrontational and nasty with US because we were checking on him. The whole situation was out of control and the bartender should have had a better handle on it. I asked "So, this is how you're going to handle your bar?" and his response was "they are in like 3 times a week..." So because they come in often, they can disrupt the entire place and do whatever the hell they want? Absurd. I was totally turned off by this establishment and how they handle their business. This is kind of a hippity hop college bar scene Appetit up place where folks from the hospital make him and have a beer or two. A little higher class and then your typical college bar fast any style but none the last the age group is definitely 18 2 early thirties. Good make sure its clean bar fun atmosphere. read more

There is always friendly staff working here. Whenever i come here it reminds me of drinking on the patio during the summer time. I love it. I also love the variety of fresh fruits and vegetables they have for your cocktails! Classy! If you are drinking on the south hill go here, there is a pizza place and Qdoba right next store when you get your munchies too. Even if you are not on the south hill it is all about a 3-5 minute drive from downtown, so not out of the way. :) read more

Great place to hang out during happy hour, it's usually not packed and the beer prices are great. Nights it gets full and prices aren't anything special ($5 beers) but it's still a good place to hang out w/ friends. read more

Convenient and close to the motel we stay at in town. Great selection of good ales. Sports screens. Zero atmosphere, but a really attentive, friendly and pretty waitress was there most nights. Pizza next door was surprisingly good. Friendly service. read more

Really cool atmosphere and the service was super fast once they came around. The problem is there is very little seating inside. In the summer they have a huge patio so I'm sure it's better. You don't have to be 21 to o in either which was great since my little sister was with us. I would definitely go back but only if seating was more readily available. read more

My family has been going to Press for years but we will never return. I personally have been to this bar several times since my 21 run last year. Twice, one woman was pouring shots for her and all of her friends and she was playing golf arcade games with them, entirely ignoring her customers wanting service. I work at the Hospital across the way and I was becoming a regular... Until recently, I visited and a male bartender with brown spiky hair, late 20s told me "I needed to leave," kicked me out, and said that he he did not accept my vertical ID. He completely embarrassed and humiliated me. Tonight, my aunt who is 22 with a vertical ID told me that her vertical ID was accepted without hesitation (after I warned her of Press's policy) and the bartender told her "of course they accepted vertical ID's- as long as they're not expired." She was never told to leave. I just worry if other gay costumers have been treated this way. read more

This place has an excellent bloody mary bar once you can get waited on. The service was very poor this last Sunday 1/8/12. If the bartendar wasn't chit chatting with friends then she was texting. If you are not from Spokane and are looking for a place to go make sure you skip Press. My boyfriend and I were in Spokane for a wedding and didn't know where to go so we thought we would walk around and find something close to our hotel. Press was less than a block away and it looked like a nice place. It turns out they don't really care about anyone they don't know. We were ignored several times by the server and the bartender as they focused all their attention on people that they knew on a first name basis. The drinks not only took a long time to get, but they were far more expensive then we expected. We were never asked if we needed another drink or anything from the waitress and when my boyfriend went to get a second drink at the bar he gave up after waiting too long and returned to the table empty handed. We don't know if we will ever go back to Spokane, but we know that we will never ever go back to Press. If you ever do want to find a great place to get a drink while in Spokane cross the street and head over to the Park Inn! read more

I asked the bartender about a beer on tap that I have never seen before, and she said, "I can point at it for you." Seriously . . . she walked over to the tap, struck a pose, and pointed at it. She was such a horrible "bartender" that I couldn't even get mad; I just felt sorry for her. I will definitely not be going back. read more

If you have been a local for very long you know that Spokane does not have a shortage of bars. In fact, I hear that per capita Spokane has more bars than Seattle! So with as many places to booze up, you're bound to find a good one. However, this particular bar still has room for improvement before I'd call myself a regular there. Unfortunately, as with most of he places I've reviewed lately, it comes down to the service. I went on a Wednesday evening there to meet up with some of my friends. To my surprise It was pretty busy! I believe this was because on Wednesdays they serve free pizza till 7 p.m. thanks to their partnership with the pizza place next door. Once seated, it took longer than normal for us to get drink orders taken, but again that could have been due to the business and the fact that there were only two bartenders. A few drinks in things seemed good, until the attention we had been receiving from our server suddenly tanked. Not to make excuses for him, but my guess would be that since most people had left by this time his sense of urgency disappeared. To make a long story slightly shorter we ended up getting slightly impatient because we had to wait to order drinks. This proved to be slightly more irritating when we saw our server casually socializing at the bar. On the flip side there were some nice things about this place. For one, the atmosphere was simple yet complimentary, and did I mention the pizza next door!? I know I mentioned it before, but it's definitely worth going on a Wednesday for the free pizza. We had a terrible experience. The girl at the bar was extremely rude and arguing with me about what I want, almost talking down to me. The guy that was there seemed drunk almost and did the tabs completely wrong after we clarified numerous times, putting the wrong drinks on our friends tabs and double charging for almost everything. I had to wait at least 10 minutes for my drink because people kept coming up to the bar and he would make their drink right after they ordered and stop making mine, then forget that he was even making it and he would start cleaning. The drinks were way too strong compared to the average place and they were very inconsistent. I got the same drink as one of my friends and it looked and tasted completely different. I really wanted to like this place because it's quiet and a chill atmosphere, but until they hire a better staff I don't see myself ever going back. read more

I have came here consistantly after work for drinks. The bartender which his name is Ian I think, is always wasted like tonight. I have tried everything from leaving him huge tips well over 100%! I will not be returning when this guy is on shift. My first visit here he let us wait for thirty minutes while he took shots. I hope to god the WSLCB comes in when he is on shift, the owners will be paying a nice fine for him and he will do the same. Used to go here frequently because of the nice atmosphere and drink selection. The place has really changed in the past several months due to the bartending. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed when the bartender made some racist comments to me. i have rated the press as a bar but not as a coffee shop. this place is great!!! i can not say nothing negative about this place. i have came here on many occasions and had my fun but never commented about the coffee. their coffee is great too!!!! plus, if you decide you want to stay sober the staff is hilarious and you never have to feel like you need to drink to be there. this place is with more laid back down to earth more on the classier side of people. you don't have to worry about trashy i just turned 21 young kids or minors trying to come in. here they have people with more intellectual things to discuss and have fun. i have great respect for this place. regardless if you come here to have coffee or a drink, maybe even a snack. you will always have somebody to chat with even if it is just the bartender or a game to watch, maybe a show, or music to listen too... gotta try this place out. that is all i have to say. you definitely be back... read more
