I moved in July 29 and discovered roaches crawling from the sinks, drains, and baseboards on NIGHT ONE. As in NOTHING UNPACKED, including food. A month later, after repeated fumigations and being shuffled between units, the problem is still unresolved. Management downplays issues, shifts blame onto tenants, and refuses to give clear answers or accountability. I've been living out of boxes for over a month, unable to unpack or set up utilities (like WiFi for work), yet still billed in full. Temporary staff were polite at first but had no authority to resolve anything, while permanent management avoided responsibility and has been missing in action. Now I'm being threatened with a rental increase if I don't move back into the unit, even though I have been given no notice or guarantees the apartment is vermin free. Reviews about roaches and plumbing here are true -- believe them. UPDATE TO ANSWER MANAGEMENT: To be clear they told me to move in 3 times and on the second I left AN EMPTY SALAD container in the counter because I saw a roach and ran out. There is also a pic of a roach they painted over that proves they knew about this infestation before I moved in. This was a pre-existing problem. Again just shifting the blame like I mentioned. The first 3 photos are of the current state of the unit, and I've been told I must move back into it immediately or be charged extra for the temporary unit. The rest are of the very first 8 hours of living in the unit. This building may look nice and the location is great, but new residents should know that if you raise valid concerns, management will treat you as the problem rather than fix the problem. Premiere Towers has been a beautiful, safe, amazing home for me for the last 3 years. As a young woman living downtown, safety was number one for me and I never encountered any issues here, and loved the convenience of the gym, rooftop, doorman and parking. I don't understand some of the negative reviews on this page, as Carlitos was always incredibly helpful and responsive the entire time I have lived here. I am only moving now because of work, but will always hold this place dear to my heart and highly recommend it to anyone. In the 3 years that I lived here, we had very few simple maintenance needs and they were always handled next day. I loved my beautiful first LA home and lived in 2 different gorgeous units while here. I will always hold these memories close to my heart. I lived at Premiere Towers for over six years. Overall, it was a great apartment. Rent was very affordable and reasonable. The building manager, Carlitos, was very responsive via email and addressed maintenance concerns in a very timely manner. Security, specifically Aaron, was very helpful and really knew the building and the residents. Kept the building secure and I appreciate that they were always respectful of our unhoused neighbors. The building is pet friendly and overall pretty quiet. It is a historic building with a lot of character. However, I do wish they would focus on upgrades including technology, amenities, security cameras, etc. read more

You know, I read the reviews on here and was reluctant to tour or even apply, but, I figured hey maybe the management has changed and they are responsive. Not at all, Carlitos had us fill in the application and pay the 40 dollars for it then never had the decency to reach out to let us know the update on the application, I called and he didn't have my number saved and asked for it again. Now my calls aren't being answered! When people show an interest in your business (Apartments) the least you could do is reach back to hopeful apartment hunters because it's already a stressful time for some. I scheduled a last-minute tour for 3 PM. Arrived at 2:30 PM and the receptionist Aaron greeted me. He was really nice and was the one to give me a tour of two different units. Aaron was really nice, told me everything I needed to know, and was honest about all the amenities included. Security seemed strong and Aaron emphasized how seriously they take the safety of their tenants. Really great for living in DTLA. The two units I was shown were clean and had great renovations. The only thing is the outdoor amenities did look on the "older side". However, the view on the rooftop was pretty! The rent is pretty affordable for the new units and ammenities included. I met Carlitos after, he was also pretty funny and nice! Cons: - Lack of parking - Lot's of homeless on the street (everywhere in DTLA is like that) read more

We lived here for about 5 years and 2021 was the worst yet. There is a current bed bug infestation (we saw them marching in through an old phone Jack in the bedroom), roach infestation (they're literally everywhere) and flea infestation (thanks to a guinea pig breeder in the building) The lease clause conveniently has a pest addendum, so we had to throw away all our furniture and clothes when we finally left. Carlitos is unresponsive and unhelpful, and Aaron (head of security) is temperamental at best. The over night guards literally just sleep at the desk and street people break in/ vandalize often. Save your time, money and heartache. Rent is not much lower here than anywhere else in dtla. read more

I've been living here for a couple months now and this place is filthy with roaches everywhere!! All of the trash rooms are full because of the backed up trash chutes that haven't been emptied in ages. Its so full to the point that the door doesn't even shut. Due to the trash and garbage overflow the floors smell and has attracted a lot of roaches. The laundry room is also dirty and every time we bring up these issues to the managers they never do anything about it! It's frustrating. Security is unfriendly too, ignoring us most of the time, even when we say hello. Overall, this place is gross and unpleasant. It's so unfortunate bc the building itself has a lot of potential in being a great place to live. read more

THIS IS AN UPDATED REVIEW. It was extremely difficult to get a hold of Carlitos. We were supposed to meet at 3:00pm for a tour, and he didn't arrive until 4:10pm. Other potential tenants were also waiting for a tour, but couldn't bear the long wait and decided to leave. He also told me, that he would call me back to update us on whether or not we were approved for the place, but never did. I tried calling on multiple occasions and he never picked up the phone. In addition, when I turned in my application and gave him cash, he told me that he would give me a receipt the next day, yet I never received my receipt and Carlitos was conveniently no where to be found. Property management was completely dishonest with us and lied to us about an apartment being available right up until we had to sign the lease. When time came to close the deal, they ignored our calls. Because they weren't up front, we are now stuck without an apartment. read more

Wow this building hasn't gotten any fresh reviews for years and it's a shame bc this building is one of the best!! First off- you can't beat the location and price. Building itself is gorgeous, completely renovated and maintained very well. Rooms are spacious, upgraded kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, rooftop, gym, 24 hour security..!! Great neighbors, wonderful community and fun shopping, restaurants, art galleries steps away. Very kind and helpful on-site manager. The office is directly in front of the building and issues are usually handled within 24 hours. Highly recommended- it has been home to us for many years now. Thank you! read more

It's a shame these reviews haven't been updated more recently because this is an amazing place to live. It's a beautiful historic building units have tons of space and huge windows, one of the few spaces with true 2 bedrooms, gorgeous roof and gym area. When it comes to living in DTLA, security was something super important to me and with parking and 24 hour doorman my roommate and I always feel comfortable and safe. Edit! - Rooftop has NOT been upgraded and is falling apart. I'm unimpressed with how its been maintained. - The apartments are no longer competitive with the area. - Parking lot is just way to tiny, and they were using part of the actual path to get down into the garage (think, 11 feet wide max) with discarded elevator parts - the "modernization of the elevators never happened. Most of the time, only 1 elevator works out of 3. Ask anyone in the building, most have been stuck @ a odd hour, in there for at least 20 minutes. read more

The leasing agent, Bernard, has miscommunicated at various times throughout 2017 to present and did not provide vital information in regards to living here. It seems like English is not his first language. Emails were not replied to, I was not notified of changes in rent despite requesting this information in advance, and I have been abruptly hung on in the middle of the conversations. While asking questions pertaining the the lease, his response is deflective and rude at times. He brushes off comments as saying it's "common sense" without any explanation. I have lived in multiple locations in various countries so "common sense" wouldn't apply here as every country and state has different real estate laws which was not communicated to me clearly from the beginning. I have asked questions so we can be on the same page, but these questions were either ignored or not clearly explained. The lack of professionalism from the leasing office is detrimental to quality of life here, and to add, I love living here and have positive experiences in other living situations. As someone who works in a high-stress corporate world, one would like to come home in peace instead of being treated disrespectfully and rudely. Since emails are not being replied to, it takes time out of my work life to communicate. Based on these experiences, it is unfortunate that Bernard does not care about his tenants or tries to resolve any issues that comes up unless it's on his terms. As for living at Premiere Towers, there were instances from other neighbors having their packages stolen, the elevator keeps breaking down, and there's a roach problem. Given the location, it explains why the rent is fairly reasonable compared to its surrounding competitors. You get what you pay for. I am living in an apartment where the agent is much more supportive and responsive and it has been great so far. I recommend finding a place where the agent works with you. The last thing you want to stress about is your own home. read more

Easily one of the best values in the historic core of DTLA. Lived here for many years in two different apartments and have always found that the building is being cared for by an extremely attentive maintenance staff, manager, and security staff. The people running the place really do make the difference. Cons: -Ceilings are normal height (maybe 9') and there is no exposed brick or concrete like some of the more recently renovated building. -Prices do go up every other year or so, but still stay below most neighboring buildings. -The AC unit could be a bit more powerful-- I think it works pretty well immediately after the filter is changed but gets clogged within a month or two and doesn't work as well. Filters cost like $1 at home depot so I usually just buy extras and replace it more often than the building does, which is annually. -They stopped accepting Fedex and UPS packages at the front desk, which is a mild bummer. They still will take your USPS packages through. Fedex and UPS go to your apartment door. Pro's: -If you seek apartment style living, this is one of the few buildings with real bedrooms. Great for shared situations which require privacy (and the building is mostly 2 bedroom 2 bathroom units with a handful of 1 bedroom and 3 bedrooms sprinkled in.) -The units are constantly being upgraded, so most have a mix of new floors/counters/bathroom fixtures, etc. -Views are great on the higher floors -Parking garage is attached (yes it's tiny but you get an assigned space and the garage door is always working and you don't have to trudge your groceries through the street.) -Cost per SF is lower than all the other buildings in the area and with that you get some of the best management around (take a look at reviews for SB and other nearby buildings!) -The walls between units are rock solid and totally sound proof. So are the floors. In my near five years here I've never, ever been kept awake by noisy neighbors. Yes there is street noise/courtyard noise, but why would you consider living downtown if you can't handle that... -The water pressure is A+ (this matters, people!!) -My refrigerator door broke once and they replaced it same day. -I saw a bug once and they sent an exterminator the next day. Problem solved, bam! -They post notices when major maintenance is happening so I'm never caught off guard (i.e. water turned off, fire/life safety checks, etc). -Most units have bonus closets in the living area and sizable closets in the bedrooms plus extra cupboards in the bathrooms. Most other buildings downtown barely have any so you have to buy extra wardrobes/furniture for storage. -In response to the '09 review: there are two modern elevators in the building which rarely break down. The roof is in great shape and every so often they get new equipment in the gym and new furniture for upstairs to keep it in good shape. read more
