Review of Nordstrom Rack - Salt Lake City (11/22/2025) On…read moreSaturday, November 22, 2025, I was shopping at the Nordstrom Rack in Farmington and realized they didn't have the size I needed in a pair of Max Studio pants. When I got home, I called the Salt Lake store to see if they might have them. The woman they connected me with in the women's department--around 5:00 PM--was incredibly helpful. She checked the computer, saw the pants were not available online, and kindly asked if I would hold while she had someone check the floor. She not only found the pants in the size I needed, but also located the matching jacket. I was so grateful for the time and effort she put in. Since they weren't able to hold the items, I drove from Layton to the Salt Lake store right away. Fortunately, the items were there when I arrived, and I was able to make my purchase. (My purchase experience is a different story--see separate review.) Thank you, Nordstrom, for training your employees so well. This young lady was efficient, attentive, and just as capable as the staff at the full-line Nordstrom stores. Her help truly made my day.

This location has a lot of clearance and big mark downs. Some things are a little more expensive, but they are still way less than at the normal department store. The lady checking us out moved slowly and continued to push us to buy the Nordstrom credit card after we repeatedly said no. A little annoying but no biggie since I know it's her job.

If you catch it at the wrong time, good luck finding a place to park because the lot is tiny. Inside, the store isn't large, but it packs a punch for what it has. A lot of items are discounted 30% or 40% (or more, depending on the event). Some of the items are samples and/or irregular items, so the discount(s) can be pretty steep. One of the best parts of this is that for someone who is out of town, they will ship your purchase for free. So I always take advantage of that because why pack it in your luggage when they'll do that for you? It's a great outlet with pretty stellar deals and a great selection. 100% worth the stop.

Only issue is if you don't like the department store, there are other department stores. This is the only game in town. Prices are bad. Like, REALLY expensive for what you are getting. This goes back to being the "only game in town." There is no local competition so they can charge what they see fit. And no, I don't buy the "but there's more material" argument. There's not that much more material. If you shop with their coupons and buy multiples of some items you can save some serious money but you are still coming out with an empty wallet. The level of service has dropped off considerably and customer service and business practices at this location are now shady at best. Manager engages in bait and switch practices and sales associates are either new, incompetent or shady as well. I went in last week to purchase a belt and specifically inquired about black Friday deals on custom suits. The sales rep told me they would be 30% off for black Friday and that sale would start on Wednesday the night before thanksgiving. I go into the store on black Friday. I confirmed with the sales associate that the suits were 30% off and proceeded to take measurements and get fitted for four suits. When I go to check out the discount is not present. Sales associate checked with manager and he said there was no sale on the custom suits. I told him I had specifically confirmed the sale on custom suits with two different sales associates on two separate days. Dude could care less and told me to go pound sand in his polite manager way. Steer clear of this location. There are plenty of other options around the valley or online with trained associates and managers who don't routinely engage with bait and switch practices.
