Yes, I'm a mother. So, yes I've given birth. And yes that was hella painful. But dentist pain is sooo different, therefore, I was scared to death. However, he made me feel so much better about the whole visit. I don't kniw anything about other dentists liking him or how amazing he is with his dentistry skills. All I know is that my routine check up that I've always dreaded was very pleasant with him. My last dentist told me that cleaning is supposed to hurt and that I needed to suck it up. Yeap. That was my last visit to that guy. Dr. Choi made my mind and soul ease up and made it truly and utterly painless. Of course there were uncomfortable moments-it is the dentist afterall-but when he said we were done, I said really? That's it? I moved to va since my last check up. But since I'm back for the holidays, I'm getting my wisdoms pulled. Yeap, using my holiday time to go do that. Risking looking like a chipmunk bc it's worth it. I think I would drive 4 hrs if I had major problems in the future. He's that good in my books. It's hard to find a good dentist. It's so hard to find a caring one at that. He came from the top medical school in South Korea. He's extremely patient and explains everything to you. And, he does solid work. Let me tell you 2 personal stories about Dr. Hong and you'll get a better idea of who he is. 1. A lot of dentists (especially the younger ones but I find almost all do this) push for unnecessary treatment. It's so obnoxiously obvious how mercenary the industry has become. For example, I had used a Groupon once to get a cleaning and the dentist had said my teeth and gums were horrible. He wanted to do laser cleaning, a root canal, and 2 crowns on 2 molars that "could split any day now". They really try to scare the bejeezus out of you. The bill was going to be thousands of dollars. Dr. Hong took a look. I thought what he said was funny. He said that in a court of law, the other dentist wouldn't be wrong but in reality, the stuff was clearly unnecessary. I guess that's the purpose of a $20 Groupon? 2. Another incident. Dr. Hong is far from where I live. So, a few times, I had gone somewhere local for the sake of convenience. (Sorry, Dr. Hong.) 2 different dentists actually remarked that the work that Dr. Hong did was solid work. One actually criticized work done by different dentist done a long time ago but he complimented Dr. Hong's - said it was impressive because given the position of the teeth, it was really difficult and he would have just taken it out. For other dentists to endorse your work, that really means something in my book. Just to warn you, he's a little old school so, don't expect any fancy procedures. And his assistant who handles his calls speaks broken English but don't worry - Dr. Hong is perfectly fluent in English. You can also ask him about anything and he's totally fine with it. Most importantly, you don't have to worry that Dr. Hong will try to do unnecessary work. I literally trust him 100% that he'll do what's right. He's truly a good person.

For me, it's all about the bedside manner, not just getting a job done and wanting money. Going to the dentist is often a frightening experience, and I am no stranger to this. I need the anxiety relieved, and Dr. Fruend is excellent at that. He can make you laugh, comfortable, and at ease with opening up your mouth and trusting that he is going to do the best job possible with causing the least amount of pain. I've had a few cavities so far (nothing major), and could not have gone more smoothly. The pain was not overwhelming, the cavities fixed with no problems after, and most importantly, I felt COMFORTABLE. It's no longer scary to go to the dentist. I look forward to cleanings, and it makes me want to keep my teeth in the best shape possible. Also, the office is very artistic looking, with art around, and feels more like a spa than cold, clinical dentists office. It's a fun place, as fun as a dentist's office could ever be! I was extremely nervous for the price of treatment because I knew I had a lot of work to be done - I hadn't seen a dentist in 5 years. Regardless, scheduling was easy on her website and her staff called immediately to warm me up and let me know what my first visit would be like. I had a really late appointment on Thursday (FYI she's open until 7) in the New Jersey office! I had a regular visit and cleaning and was offered a promotion for free whitening. When it was time to pay, it was definitely a lot of treatment and was overwhelming to say the least. But I knew it was something I needed and wanted! Safe to say, I won't wait another 5 years to see a dentist. The Office Manager offered me an In house plan that allowed me to get a percent off of my treatment which made life so much easier! I found Dr. Lee's conduct concerning, and her "coordinator" came across more like a salesperson than someone focused on patient care. I felt extremely uncomfortable with the pressure to sign up for financing. I experienced multiple instances of unethical behavior throughout my visit, which I will not get into in detail in this review. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope of saving someone else from feeling taken advantage of, pressured, and uncomfortable in a setting where they should feel safe and respected. My experience with Dr. Lee and her practice has seriously undermined my trust in dental professionals.
