To preface, my husband had previously posted a review on my behalf (my words, his account) as I did not have a Yelp account - that review was removed by Yelp SO I created my own account and I am posting MY review of MY experience at this practice.
I had my appointment here on Jan 19 2018, would give zero stars if possible...to start, I have never had a single cavity in my life...this was my experience:
Office is very small and all the staff were speaking in their native language around patients (unprofessional) - they did not take bitewing X-rays but instead just the one X-ray that scans around the head of the whole mouth...without X-rays of the enamel how would one detect decay?? I waited for a very long time before Doctor Lee came in, he introduced himself then decided to spend the next 10 min taking me through his yelp page and showing off the different classes he gives on dental surgery, he mentioned they work with pig jaws for the classes etc - all of which seemed very irrelevant to my simple oral exam and cleaning appointment.....he then moved on to talk about how he can install dentures pointing to the ad on the wall....still waiting for the cleaning to start and shows he has no consideration for my time as none of this was relevant to me.....finally he then took about 18-20 photos of my mouth and said I have 9 cavities and needed immediate deep root cleaning...
I have never had a single cavity in my life, no pain and now being told I have 9 and needed special treatment, that he wanted to do there and then and already suggested to get his "office manager" to come and talk pricing - adding to this, earlier on during his "presentation" he had mentioned that his office manager was out that day, which is why he was having to do his own introduction himself (which he said embarrassed him, but he was still doing it)
So naturally, I became very alarmed and uncomfortable and asked that he stick to the normal cleaning for that appointment and would revisit...he was not overjoyed but did so anyway. After the treatment, now at the front desk they discussed the pricing for all the treatment I supposedly "needed" in their native language again, so I had no clue what was being said or how the amounts were being calculated but he also repeatedly told me that I have "very good insurance coverage" - which really just adds to why they definitely should not have been discussing how to bill my "very good insurance coverage" in their native language.
While I waited, the front desk staff were very pushy for me to leave a positive review on yelp and google there and then while still sitting in the waiting room, before leaving the office, in exchange for a "goody bag" (which probably explains all the good reviews and in my experience with other offices, they give those bags containing toothpaste and toothbrush out for free anyway) - they sent me texts to the yelp page link and also gave me a reminder card with the links saying "don't forget!"
After leaving, I decided a second opinion was needed and went to my husband's trusted dentist out in Rockland County,NY that he has been going to for many years, and that man was kind enough to do another exam for free, and explained that I had 1 small cavity and no deep root cleaning needed at all.
Imagine what Dr Lee would have done to my mouth....this so called professional should be banned from practicing on people, let alone pig jaws. read more
