The staff here are perfectly friendly, but the systems in place just seem so inefficient - it must drive them crazy too. It took a full 20 minutes to check in, and to order room service you had to go downstairs that night to pay for it - sort of negating the need for room service. After I'd ordered my dinner - burger and chips - I waited half an hour to receive jus the burger. Breakfast was pretty good and the hotel is by no means uncomfortable. It's a little rough around the edges; for example my door didn't fully close without a push because the carpet was too thick and my double bed was two singles pushed together. The hotel is also not in a nice area, I think on a council estate in fact. So it's not like it's a great idea to go out exploring for dinner. The breakfast is pretty decent. Overall, I'd have been happier if it was cheaper, but with so many problems, and the £72 per night cost, I think two stars is fair.

My room was ready early, cleaned properly, and check in and out was a breeze. The WiFi worked VERY well and was generally quite fast. The bar was convient and had a good selection of beers. Breakfast was solid with well done eggs and bacon. Only did the dinner once and it was pretty good, the soup I had was excellent. The other nights I had plans with co-workers or plans of my own. Only wish it had a gym. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

This Ramada hotel is well loacted, about a minute from the M61 motorway and a few minutes from the Reebok stadium, home to Bolton Wanderers. Fortunately, we were here on a non footballing weekend and we didn't have to share the premises with lots of football fans. The hotel has some nice amenities like a health centre, endorsed by Sebastian Coe himself, no less. Obviously, running the 2012 Olympics campaign still leaves him some free time on his hands! The health centre has a nice pool, spa bath and sauna as well as a gym. We had a really good wedding reception and the most important thing was that Lesley and Andrew really had a good time. It was a joyful occasion shared with friends and family and revellers of all ages joined in the ceilidh dancing. The kitchen however did struggle at times - there was a long gap between main course and dessert and I saw the suden appearance of the managers on the floor, helping to serve the dessert. The service for the dinner started well but did go downhill as the wheels gradually came off. There was little sign of teas and coffees at the end of the dinner. Fortunately, this didn't detract from Lesley and Andrerw's enjoyment of their day but I wonder if the hotel struggled to cope with having more than one wedding party going on that evening. They did give us a good rate for the room - £30 per person for the night. I'm not sure if that was a special rate for the wedding but it was good value for that class of hotel.

I couldn't fault this hotel. My youngest son contacted them…read moreto plan his wedding day and the staff were absolutely superb. All the planning was done by them, while the two families chose to provide gifts, wedding cake etc. A room for the night was included for the couple and those of us who didn't want the problem of getting home late at night booked double rooms for a very reasonable price with an excellent breakfast included. The wedding itself was smoothly conducted, with a registrar present and all guests had a celebratory drink of bucks fizz or natural orange juice as preferred. There was a Wedding Breakfast as I have been told to call it actually a glorious meal. We also had full use of the function room for the evening, with its own bar, right through until everyone had had enough; although some of us went through to the adjoining public bar as they had two real ales on hand-pump! Drinks prices were (for an hotel) very good, in fact, the same as pub prices around the area. The rooms were basic, but very comfortable and, for most of us, on the ground floor and very close to the function room. The car-parking area is next to the hotel and ample for all of our needs. The location is perfect as it is surrounded by fields and trees, yet is right next to the East Lancashire Road (A580), so very easy to find.
