Getting up to look at the starters raised my fears of long standing cooked food...the pastas looked stuck together, the salads limp, the mini quiches crumbled when you tried to get one , the cheese filled jackets were oily , the ribs grisly ...the melon was nice though.. Taking a break with the white wine...which wasn't great we tried the next course. When I asked for be nut roast I thought the chef was going to faint.. while he disappeared around the back I helped myself to some veggies..which were all over cooked and mushy..when the nut roast finally arrived it tasted generic..the meat was apparently good.. Desserts offered various pre bought cakes..which were nice..Overall the service lacked organisation like having to ask for plates, fresh food being put out and nut roasts not ready..I don't mind carverys but this was pretty poor..

The soup starter was just warm at best. The beef was very dry and way overcooked. The roasties wher horrible. Of the 4 of us only one attempted to try and eat the meal. The manager did not appologise at all when we complained. Very poor for such a "quality" hotel.

Once a top notch hotel, the Bel Air is now a cross between a sports bar and a pub; big screen tv's line the walls with Sky Sports playing on mute, photos of rugby stars adorn the walls, and uplifting quotes are painted all around. I wasn't drinking on the day due to a horrible cold but I am assured the beer/ale selection was worth a thumbs up, though this changes and you can have a dissapointing beer experience. The staff here are perfectly friendly, but the systems in place just seem so inefficient - it must drive them crazy too. It took a full 20 minutes to check in, and to order room service you had to go downstairs that night to pay for it - sort of negating the need for room service. After I'd ordered my dinner - burger and chips - I waited half an hour to receive jus the burger. Breakfast was pretty good and the hotel is by no means uncomfortable. It's a little rough around the edges; for example my door didn't fully close without a push because the carpet was too thick and my double bed was two singles pushed together. The hotel is also not in a nice area, I think on a council estate in fact. So it's not like it's a great idea to go out exploring for dinner. The breakfast is pretty decent. Overall, I'd have been happier if it was cheaper, but with so many problems, and the £72 per night cost, I think two stars is fair.

My room was ready early, cleaned properly, and check in and out was a breeze. The WiFi worked VERY well and was generally quite fast. The bar was convient and had a good selection of beers. Breakfast was solid with well done eggs and bacon. Only did the dinner once and it was pretty good, the soup I had was excellent. The other nights I had plans with co-workers or plans of my own. Only wish it had a gym. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Our welcome was friendly and, even though we were using the self check-in, someone took the time to come over and made sure we knew all about breakfast etc. The interior is all very standard Premier Inn, well signposted to the rooms and the like. The room was very well put together, and the bed was probably one of the comfiest I've stayed in for a while! You can't open the windows but the air conditioning helped cool it all down after a rather rushed journey in. The midday check out was a real treat the next day - it's a simple touch but makes a huge difference.
